Ben Stiller fans have been waiting on a follow-up to his cult classic film "Zoolander" since its release in 2001 -- but other than a few joking comments from screenwriter John Hamburg, we haven't heard much on that front to get us hopeful. Still, as Zoolander himself proclaimed, "You gotta tame the beast before you let it out of its cage." Now, it's looking like that tiger's getting ready to pounce.
"I'd love to do 'Zoolander 2,'" the actor proclaimed in an interview with Screen Rush. "We've actually worked on a script over the years and hopefully it'll happen. It's just a matter of ... getting it all together and finding the right story, but it would really be fun to do that again." Read more...
Derek Zoolander once wondered if there were more to life than being “really, really, ridiculously good looking.” By the end of his 2001 movie about the world of competitive male modeling, he may or may not have discovered the truth. Dude was pretty dumb, after all. Now he might get another shot to answer that timeless philosophical brain-teaser in a long-awaited sequel.
“Ben [Stiller] and I have talked about it for a little while," revealed the film’s scribe, John Hamburg, about a film that would reunite Stiller’s Zoolander with his nemesis-turned-comrade Hansel (Owen Wilson). "I think someday we will make that movie.”
While he offered no details about a plot, nor any hint about other potential returning stars like Will Ferrell and Christine Taylor, Hamburg did drop a possible title for the film: “Twolander.” Read more...
If you haven't already, you should probably read my interview with Hasbro chieftain Brian Goldner. As the Executive Producer on Stephen Sommers' upcoming "G.I. Joe" action flick, it's Goldner that knows the inside skinny on Hollywood's take on the fan-favorite franchise. So it was a blast for me -- a huge fan of the Marvel comics -- to get an extended chat with the toymaker's new CEO to discuss the secrets of "G.I. Joe."
My article (read it here) reveals that the film will focus on the comics (yay), will largely portray the rise of Cobra Commander, and that it'll still have a healthy dose of patriotism, among other tidbits. But one of the more interesting items that didn't make the article was whether the movie would feature some of G.I. Joe's impressive range of armored vehicles. Read more...
When we spoke to comic superstar Will Ferrell for his new film "Semi-Pro," one of the biggest nagging questions we wanted answered was the status of that long-rumored sequel to Ben Stiller's ode-to-male-modeling, "Zoolander."
"Yeah, there was a little talk," Ferrell admitted. "I brought it up to Ben really five years after the fact. Just for whatever reasons, it's just not crystallizing."
One of the biggest obsticles for the actor? How his evil designer Mugatu could fit into the plot. "That's the other thing," Ferrell says, sighing. "I mean, Mugatu, what do you do with that guy? Would he still be obsessed with that?"
