FROM HOLLYWOOD CRUSH: Welcome to Dress Like A Movie Star Week here on Hollywood Crush. For the next five days we will be bringing you Halloween costume ideas inspired by some of the most outrageous, colorful and downright awesome characters on the big screen in 2009. We know your wallets aren't exactly being filled by a money tree in your backyards these days, so we're going to try our darnest to keep these costume ideas easy to create and easy on your bank account! Let the trick and treating begin!

Some may say its too soon to base a Halloween costume around a movie that came out the same month, but in the case of the most badass zombie killing sisters around, were going to make an exception. "Zombieland" power girls Wichita and Little Rock (Emma Stone and Abigail Breslin) struck a special chord in our hearts when they managed to look fantastic and fashionable in the middle of the zombie apocalypse while conning and outsmarting Columbus (Jesse Eisenberg) and Tallahassee (Woody Harrelson) at every step of their journey.

Though you'd think there would be more clothing options available with the rest of the world turned into flesh-eating monsters, Wichita and Little Rock wear the same outfit for the entirety of the film. While we aren't recommending you don't shower for weeks as it is implied the girls were forced to ("Don't say the s-word," Wichita begged her kid sister), there are a few elements of the ladies ensembles you just cant live without.

1. "Where The Wild Things Are" ($32.5 million)
2. "Law Abiding Citizen" ($21.3 million)
3. "Paranormal Activity" ($20.3 million)
4. "Couples Retreat" ($17.9 million)
5. "The Stepfather" ($12.3 million)

The wild rumpus was in full swing at the box office this weekend as "Where The Wild Things Are," the Spike Jonze-directed adaptation of Maurice Sendak's much-beloved children's book, decisively outgrossed the competition for a first place finish. "Wild Things" managed a $32.5 million intake by Sunday's conclusion, which wasn't quite as high as what some watchdogs thought the film might earn, but it's not a bad start towards earning back its $80 million budget. 1. "Couples Retreat" ($35.3 million)
2. "Zombieland" ($15 million)
3. "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs" ($12 million)
4. "Toy Story" & "Toy Story 2" (3-D Double Feature) ($7.7 million)
5. "Paranormal Activity" ($7 million)

Taking vacation time is always a good thing for everybody, but it's particularly beneficial for Universal this weekend as "Couples Retreat" booked a flight to the number one spot at the box office. The film managed $35.3 million over the course of the weekend with a per screen average of $11 thousand, which is hardly a laughable result despite the movie's comedic tone. Read more...

1. "Couples Retreat" ($12.3 million)
2. "Zombieland" ($4.75 million)
3. "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs" ($3.1 million)
4. "Toy Story" & "Toy Story 2" (3-D Double Feature) ($2.54 million)
5. "Paranormal Activity" ($2 million)

The cheese stands alone as the Vince Vaughn-starring "Couples Retreat," the weekend's only new wide release, debuted on Friday in an expected first place finish at the box office. "Couples Retreat" marks the directorial debut of Peter Billingsley, who is most famous for his childhood portrayal of Ralphie in the classic "A Christmas Story" — apparently, Billingsley didn't shoot his eye out, because his directorial vision resulted in an $11.5 million Friday opening according to the numbers from Deadline Hollywood Daily. Today, NASA bombed the moon. It's a little more complicated than I'm making it out to be, but that really is the gist of it. The "bombings" are part of the LCROSS mission, short for Lunar CRater Observation and Sensing Satellite. The mission is meant to determine whether or not there's any water to be found on or beneath the surface of Earth's only natural satellite. LCROSS impacted on the surface of the moon, sending debris skyward. A second satellite followed, collecting and analyzing the debris while traveling along its own downward trajectory to the moon's surface.

I say that you shouldn't believe the hype. There's another reason for the "bombing," a darker reason. "Zombieland" writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick know what's really up. After all... it was their idea. Read more...

FROM MTV.COM: Without giving away too much about "Zombieland," the comedy about how America goes from land of the free to home of the flesh-eating ghoulie, let's just say the ending of the Woody Harrelson-led popcorn flick sets things up perfectly for a sequel. Given that the movie nabbed the top box-office spot over the weekend with $25 million in ticket sales, another "Zombieland" might be infecting audiences in the future.

"We would love it, and everyone involved creatively wants to do another one," Paul Wernick, one of the screenwriters, told MTV News before the film's release. "Woody came up to us after the final cut of the last scene and gave us a hug and said, 'I've never wanted to do a sequel in the previous movies I've done until this one.' "

1. "Zombieland" ($25 million)
2. "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs" ($16.7 million)
3. "Toy Story" & "Toy Story 2" (3-D Double Feature) ($12.5 million)
4. "The Invention of Lying" ($7.35 million)
5. "Surrogates" ($7.34 million)

Based on yesterday's projections, the remainder of the box office weekend played out as many suspected it would. Unsurprisingly, the Woody Harrelson-starring "Zombieland" took the first place prize with $25 million, surpassing its $23.6 million budget in its first weekend in theaters. The creature-filled dark comedy, which also stars notable up-and-comers Jesse Eisenberg ("Adventureland"), Emma Stone ("Superbad") and Abigail Breslin ("Little Miss Sunshine"), marks the sixth time a Sony film has opened in the number one spot this year. 1. "Zombieland" ($9.4 million)
2. "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs" ($3.7 million)
3. "Toy Story" & "Toy Story 2" (3-D Double Feature) ($3.2 million)
4. "The Invention of Lying" ($2.5 million)
5. "Surrogates" ($2.2 million)

One might wonder why Sony Pictures is so happy in the middle of a zombie apocalypse, but the movie studio has plenty of reasons to smile as the Woody Harrelson-starring "Zombieland" nabbed the top spot at the box office on its opening day. The film earned $9.4 million going into Saturday, and Deadline Hollywood Daily's Nikki Finke is projecting a $25 million weekend total for the film. The movie was produced for an estimated $23.6 million, so "Zombieland" should have no trouble clawing its way towards the profit margin by Sunday's end. Read more...

FROM MTV.COM: "Zombieland" may be the first undead road-trip movie. The picture is light and unassuming, but it has a jaunty spirit; it's funny beyond the call of genre and — the cool part, of course — wonderfully disgusting.

The premise has a nice, low-budget simplicity. A nationwide zombie plague has turned the country into a wasteland of stumbling gut-munchers (although they can move pretty fast when they want to). Only a few uninfected outriders remain, following 10 simple rules to stay alive. One of these is "Beware of bathrooms" (zombies like to crawl up on you under toilet-stall doors). Another — which should be retroactively posted in every monster movie ever made — is: "Check the backseat!"

Do you have a zombie plan? Do you have a multi-phase strategy in place for when the zombie apocalypse inevitably takes place? Are you adequately prepared for the day when humanity is left to fend for its very soul in the face of a world overrun by the ravenous undead?

Of course I have a zombie plan. Living in Harlem and mere blocks from the Metro North train tracks, I plan to forage for ammunition and food for some weeks after the initial infection, and then follow the train lines north along the Hudson River. I will eventually make my way to Nova Scotia, an island with quality farmland where zombie infection can easily be contained. My zombie dispatching weapons of choice will be a modified aluminum baseball bat and a sawed-off shotgun. I am, if nothing else, a traditionalist.

Zombieland” got me going back over my strategy, checking it for flaws. The plan’s sound, but it never hurts to brush up on the basics. Practice makes perfect, after all. If you too feel the need a refresher course on surviving zombie hoards before this Friday, here are some lessons to keep in mind. Read more...
