Zac EfronZac Efron doesn't have a hard time making the ladies swoon, but it seems that one of his upcoming projects will certify his status as a box office babe: "Die in a Gunfight," an action flick that shares common themes with Shakespeare's classic "Romeo and Juliet."

Last week, we spoke with "Gunfight" director Anthony Mandler, who very recently signed on to helm the project. He gave us the scoop on working with the former "High School Musical" sensation on this latest film and helping him bridge the difficult road from kid star to adult actor.

"I just signed on to a movie 'Die in a Gunfight' that Zac Efron's starring in," Mandler told MTV News. "It’s a 'Fight Club,' 'Romeo and Juliet'–esque, dystopian, another world [type of story] that's really exciting."

There was not shortage of star power at last night's Golden Globe Awards, and MTV News' Josh Horowitz was on the red carpet to chat 'em up, get their thoughts on the night... and probe them for scoop on their upcoming projects.

Robert Pattinson was on hand and feeling very chatty, talking about landing the lead role in David Cronenberg's "Cosmopolis," taking a "big step" forward with the adaptation of "Water for Elephants" and giving "Twilight" fans a thrill with that revealing new "Breaking Dawn" photo.

Meanwhile, Zac Efron talked about his new haircut, his role in the upcoming flick "The Lucky Ones," and starring opposite Michelle Pfeiffer in the ensemble romantic comedy "New Year's Eve." Emma Stone dished on the "Spider-Man" reboot and the mechanical contraptions Spidey will use to sling his webs. And Olivia Wilde revealed that she was hiding Justin Bieber underneath her dress (sadly, when we checked, we discovered she was joking). Read More...

Sarah Jessica Parker and Zac EfronThe end of the year is approaching, and all the Hollywood rom-com heavyweights are slowly making their way towards "New Year's Eve." Today's newest official cast member is Sarah Jessica Parker, who will round out at least one of the story lines for another previously attached actress. The Hollywood Reporter has the scoop that SJP will be playing the mother of Abigail Breslin, who relies too much on her daughter for company. There goes anyone's lingering hopes of "Sex and the City 3." Good-bye, Carrie Bradshaw!

Two other actors are circling the project with interest. Halle Berry is looking to come on board as a caterer who runs into a former flame. Meanwhile, Zac Efron is interested in playing a bike messenger who crosses paths with Michelle Pfeiffer's character, a frustrated secretary who decides to work on her unfulfilled New Year's resolutions from the previous year. Apparently Efron's character will help her cross some of those puppies off. Read More...

From the minute rumors started circulating earlier this week about an alleged Rat Pack movie starring George Clooney as Frank Sinatra and Angelina Jolie as Marilyn Monroe we smelled, well, a rat. Too good to be true? Of course it was.

Aside from the fact that the “Salt 2” talk is already cranking up (not to mention a busy schedule that includes “The Tourist” and possible turns as “Cleopatra” and “Maleficent”), the superstar Jolie casting sounded like some kind of a secret Freemason film dream to finally complete Jolie’s impossible leading man trifecta (Brad, Johnny and George). Angie’s reps quickly quashed the rumors that she was locked in to star in the adaptation of the “dog’s-eye view” book “The Life and Opinions of Maf the Dog, and of His Friend Marilyn Monroe,” which will tell the story of the couple’s relationship from the view of the Scottish poodle Sinatra gave to Monroe as a gift.

That still got us thinking and scheming, though, about our own dream cast for “Maf.” Read More...

Zac Efron may have had his breakout as a "High School Musical" heartthrob, but he's been very clear in his intentions to evolve beyond those beginnings into more serious acting fare. He's taking another shot this Friday with "Charlie St. Cloud," a fantasy/drama about a young man (Efron) grieving over the death of his younger brother.

With the movie out on Friday, this is prime time for Efron to figure out what he's going to do next. He's already got a TV appearance lined up, voicing Anakin Skywalker on the next "Robot Chicken: Star Wars" special. Now Deadline reports that there are two film roles he's considering as well. First up is "The Lucky One," an adaptation of the Nicholas Sparks novel, about a soldier coming home from Iraq who sets out to find a woman in a picture he's been carrying as his good luck charm. The other is "Die In a Gunfight," an action flick with echoes of the "Romeo & Juliet" story written by a pair of fresh-faced newcomers. Deadline describes "The Lucky One" as Efron's "likely" next effort. What do you make of all this? Will you be seeing "Charlie St. Cloud" this weekend?
