Oprah's announcement that her show may end its 25-season run in 2011 was almost enough to unseat "New Moon" as the top trending topic of the Twitter-Wood feed today. Kevin Nealon and Wil Wheaton both had a opinions on her possible bow out of syndication, while Eli Roth and Kevin Smith helped keep "Twilight" alive in Twitter conversation.

Two big names celebrated birthdays last night in very public fashion, as P. Diddy entertained a few folks on my follow list and Larry King got a little rowdy in my pick for Twitter Pic of the Day. Check that out after the jump along with Jeremy Piven's Calgary Flames trip and Danny DeVito's wholesome moment with Carrie Fisher. I'm @brianwarmoth, and this is the Twitter-Wood report for November 20, 2009. Read more...

Wil WheatonThat is not a dirty headline. "Star Trek: The Next Generation" star Wil Wheaton, noted geek, really does have a measuring stick to show off in today's Daily TwitPic. I had no idea what that thing was at first, until I got my latest ThinkGeek newsletter (they sold me a Dreamcast and I've been on their list ever since). It's an actual ThinkGeek-branded slide rule.

Sure, fine. The pic maybe isn't as exciting as Stamos's baby hair or Peter Facinelli eating a horse, but I have to give it up for a guy who isn't afraid to proudly show off his new ruler. Again, nothing dirty there. Hit the jump to see Wheaton pimping his purchase. Read more...

Brett Ratner may not be making that "Guitar Hero" movie that he's dreamed about, but he is getting the chance to help launch the new game with a commercial. And he's excited -- like tweeting about it excited.

Meanwhile in Los Angeles, those wildfires are still burning, and the faces of the Twitter-Wood feed are still watching the smoke fly. Richard Kelly and Rose McGowan caught a glimpse of the flames, while Kevin Smith linked to what the little actress from "Jersey Girl" is up to these days, and Miranda Cosgrove locked herself out of her home. Find out what happened and see the proudest display of nerd-pride on the Internet today in the Twitter-Wood report for September 1, 2009. Read more...

Jeremy PivenNorth Korea's release of American journalists Laura Ling and Euna Lee today proved once again how quickly the news pipeline flows into the Twitter-Wood feed. Actors like John Cusack, Alyssa Milano and Rose McGowan were among the first to express their support via tweets and celebrate the pair's pardon, which followed closed-door negotiations with former U.S. President Bill Clinton.

Meanwhile, Jeremy Piven's appearance on WWE RAW last night earned him Trending status on Twitter's sidebar, and he responded in kind by posting my selection for Twitter Pic of the Day (narrowly beating out Cusack). Thirdly, anyone with a soft spot for Disney tween and teen celebs will want to read the gushing exchange between Selena Gomez and Ashley Tisdale that took place today. It's all in the mix below in the Twitter-Wood Report for August 4, 2009. Read more...

San Diego Comic-ConThe lines between celebrities and fans get thrown out the window in many cases at Comic-Con, and posts in the Twitter-Wood feed over the last few days have offered some great insight into who's gushing over whom. Today, Kevin Smith gets sappy about Neil Gaiman, Tyrese gets starry eyed about Jim Lee, and the "Twilight" crew was just happy to show up. I plucked a few pictures and tweets to illustrate.

Comic-Con International is only halfway over, though, and plenty more celebs are just now arriving at the party. "Iron Man 2" director Jon Favreau and Robert Rodriguez can be counted among them. Shoot on down below, and you'll catch details from them, Tom Felton's bizarre encounter at his car, and Wil Wheaton's candid take on Hollywood folks on the show floor. It's all in the Twitter-Wood report for July 24, 2009. Read more...

Russell BrandWarmoth's out, so I'm stepping in to cover today's Twitter-Wood beat. It's pretty daunting, manning this great ship Twitter-Wood. Brian has done a kickass job of turning this feature into a daily destination for a lot of people. And since he's not here, I feel compelled to give props where props are due. It ain't easy mining hundreds of celeb Tweets for worthwhile things to share. I would encourage you all to shout out Brian in future Twitter-Wood comments sections.

Today's feed features a cryptic message from comedian Eddie Izzard and a truth bomb sponsored by none other than Donnie Wahlberg. There also a hilarious one-liner from Russell Brand and comments from Ice T about his time spent yesterday with the video game "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2." All that plus some terrifying links from Wil Wheaton and Ryan Seacrest -- but for totally different reasons -- in today's Twitter-Wood, for July 16, 2009. Read more...

Ed McMahonThe death of Ed McMahon, "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" and Perez Hilton's scuffle with Black Eyed Peas frontman will.i.am dominated Twitter's trending topics today, and the Twitter-Wood feed is on the case. Ashton Kutcher, Jon Favreau and plenty of others tweeted condolences to Johnny Carson's former "Tonight Show" announcer, who died today in Los Angeles.

Tweets on the latter two categories have been significantly more mixed in their sentiments, but "Revenge of the Fallen" star Tyrese Gibson maintained his Twitter vigil that's been documenting his recent film-related travels. Meanwhile, Ice-T chimed in with some public advice to Hilton. You can check out all of those tweets, our second celeb camera phone pic of the Mona Lisa, and much more below in the Twitter-Wood report for June 23, 2009. Read more...

Gwyneth PaltrowProtests, marches, and link-passing have taken over Twitter following last week's contested election results in Iran, and the Twitter-Wood feed has been no exception. Alyssa Milano has been particularly persistent with her #iranelection-tagged tweets, and directors Errol Morris, James Gunn, and Jon Favreau all logged on to comment on the events in Tehran.

Meanwhile, a few tweets squeaked through with details from the "Iron Man 2" and "Casino Jack" sets, as well as from Wil Wheaton's guest appearance on the TNT series "Leverage." Also, Jonah Hill joins Kat Dennings and Nick Jasenovec in doubting the legitimacy of the controversial Michael Cera Twitter account that I've mentioned before. Click onward for all of these, birthday wishes to actor Michael Showalter, a much more in 140 characters or less in today's Twitter-Wood report! Read more...

Wil WheatonI am back, and Friday must be a busy day in Hollywood, because the "Twitter-Wood" feed was tweeting off the hook this afternoon. As usual, you can learn a lot from Rainn Wilson and Wil Wheaton. Both were rattling off tales of recent escapades. But there was plenty of shop talk, too, with writer Brian Lynch offering up his thoughts on James Cameron's "Avatar" (not to be confused with M. Night Shyamalan's "The Last Night Airbender").

Also, I'm tagging today's post with an advance warning of brief "Star Trek" nerdery, as Wil Wheaton's post calls out the version of Christopher Pike in the original TV series, not the new one played by Bruce Greenwood in the J.J. Abrams film. And with that, here is today's Hollywood Twitter report in the words of the actors, directors, and writers who make it all happen. Read more...

Wil WheatonContributed by Wil Wheaton

You may know Wil Wheaton as Gordie in "Stand By Me," or perhaps you know him as Wesley Crusher from "Star Trek: The Next Generation." We however, know him as a nerd god, who's a walking encyclopedia of "Trek" and "Watchmen" knowledge. That's why we invited him to the taping of our new movie show "Spoilers" (airing this Saturday at 8pm EST!), to see "Watchmen" and "Trek" footage. You can read Wil Wheaton's thoughts on "Watchmen" here, and "Trek" below.

It was all stuff that I've seen already, but it looked cool and everyone in the theater loved it. You know, a lot of my fellow Trekkies are all worked up because the trailer shows all this action stuff, and I keep hearing people dismissively calling it "Star Trek: 90210” just because there are young people in it or something. I really hope those guys can take a step back and realize a couple of things: these trailers and previews aren't aimed at us; they're aimed at teenagers, so they have to be presented in a language that they understand.
