Recent headlines have speculated wildly on the fate of "Where the Wild Things Are." Advance screenings have reportedly proven too scary for kids, and resulting rumors have Spike Jonze's flick being re-cut, re-focused, or even entirely re-shot.
According to one of the film's voice stars, however, there are at least three kids who had no problem handling the horribleness.
"My children are 9, 11, and 16," insisted Forest Whitaker, saying that he took his children to one of those early "Things" screenings. "It was intense. They liked it, though. They enjoyed it." Read more...

As a rule of thumb, Pete Wentz is excited about pretty much everything, so when I was talking to him yesterday about Fall Out Boy's upcoming arena tour -- which he's dubbed the "Young Wild Things Tour," in a nod to Maurice Sendak's "Where the Wild Things Are" -- it wasn't exactly breaking news that he was super-pumped to hit the road. But what was rather interesting was just closely he was following the upcoming Spike Jonze/Dave Eggers adaptation of the book, which is tentatively due from Warner Bros. next October (see our first look from the film here).
"I'm so excited to see the new movie. I've only seen one picture but it was stunning - I think it's an Eggerts script. This movie was a long time coming," he wrote me in an email. Over the past day or so, an image from Spike Jonze's upcoming (10/3/08) adaptation of the classic children's novel "Where the Wild Things Things Are" has been floating around the 'net. The photo in question was taken at Warner Bros.' booth at the Licensing Show here in NYC.
