Kristen BellIf you're a "Veronica Mars" fan itching for the series to make a much deserved comeback, fret not — you've got solid company in the form of Kristen Bell herself. The actress has long championed for a theatrical resurrection of the beloved television franchise, going so far as to recently declare that she would self-finance a "Veronica Mars" movie if she had to.

The Hollywood Reporter quotes Bell as having said that she "absolutely would" finance a "Veronica Mars" movie on her own, but that's not the biggest obstacle facing the franchise — with or without Bell's own money, the property is owned by Warner Bros., and they've shown no signs of moving forward with a movie.

"It's a business and the sad truth is that ... they're not going to relinquish the rights to something and let us do it," explained Bell. "We really have to do it with them because they own it." Read More...

"Veronica Mars" was canceled in 2007, but there is still a sizable contingent of fans out there who want to see more of the Kristen Bell-led CW television series. A contingent that isn't large enough, according to producer Joel Silver, who MTV spoke with at the press junket for "Splice."

"We analyzed all these areas about it," he sad. "I talked to [the Warner Bros.] home-video people about it, because a movie like that would be driven by home video. But the home video itself didn't do that well for 'Veronica Mars,' so [the department] didn't feel there was a need or an audience for a direct-to-video 'Veronica Mars,' which could have driven a theatrical release." Lost-- Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse won't explain the ending of "Lost" after it airs. Lindelof says: "We're going to be as definitive as we can be and say this is our ending, but there's no way to end the show where the fans aren't going to say, 'What did they mean by this?' Which is why we're not going to explain it." [The Live Feed]

Joss Whedonby Kathleen Newman-Bremang

It’s a question that has plagued TV-lovers for generations: what happens to all those canceled TV shows and their beloved characters when they vanish into pop culture oblivion? These days, they’re either relegated to DVD box sets or -- if they’re lucky -- they move on up to the big screen. To see a show that you’ve loved and lost make it to into movie form is pretty much every fan’s dream. So long as it's done right.

I get why fans of the "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" TV series have been up in arms since news broke that the franchise will make its way to theaters without the help of show creator Josh Weldon. The news kind of sucks for "Buffy" fans, but it got me thinking of all the other shows I love and miss. Read More...

Since "Veronica Mars" ended its run in 2007, fans of the much-loved teen-detective series have been waiting anxiously for the show to make its big return in the form of a movie. Creator Rob Thomas (no, not the guy from Matchbox 20) promised the show's cult fanbase that one day, he would bring the feisty private investigator to the big screen

The show's star, Kristen Bell, is also hoping the movie will finally come together. "I cannot give you an update, but I will tell you we're trying to make it happen," she told MTV News on the set of Thomas' new project, "Party Down," a comedy series airing on the Starz channel about aspiring actors/ cater waiters, for which Bell was filming a cameo. "When making a movie, there are a lot of different entities that have to be involved — mainly money."

From the set of "Party Down," where many of her "Veronica Mars" castmates have found jobs, she added, "As soon as all that is assembled, I know that everyone is excited and ready to go. We just have to pull it together. ... Rob left here to go meet with [producer] Joel [Silver], so we'll see." Read More...

Krysten RitterContributed by Silas Lesnick

Though Krysten Ritter hits the big screen in February's "Confessions of a Shopaholic," a lot of fans remember her best from her continuing role on "Veronica Mars" as Gia Goodman, a part she says she'd love to return to if the long-rumored "Mars" film ever hits the big screen.

Appearing throughout most of the second of the season, Gia was a one-time friend to Veronica who broke off the friendship when Veronica began investigating Gia's father, baseball team owner Woody Goodman.

Though Krysten's character sort of disappeared as Veronica left for college in season three, she remained a fan-favorite. A potential "Mars" movie was news to Gia, but she was quick to announce her willingness to participate. Read More...
