The KillingAMC's new series "The Killing" has been, for lack of a better word, killing it. The powerful murder mystery drama has made such an impression on the small screen since its debut earlier this month that its cast is already being sought after by Hollywood to showcase their talents on the big screen.

Take, for instance, Mireille Enos, who plays the lead character Sarah Linden on the show. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the actress is currently in talks to star as none other than Brad Pitt's wife in the upcoming "World War Z." The movie, based on Max Brooks' novel of the same name, follows life in a post-zombie apocalyptic world.

Check out the rest of today's biggest casting news, including another "Killing" star -- Joel Kinnaman -- making the transition to film for the thriller "Safe House."

In the new romantic dramedy "Love & Other Drugs" (out November 24), Jake Gyllenhaal gets it on with Anne Hathaway over and over and over again. In the upcoming sci-fi thriller "Source Code" (out April 15) he has to relive the same eight minutes of another man's life over and over and over again. And, each time, it ends the same way: with him getting blown up. While the whole having sex with Anne Hathaway thing sure sounds preferable, the newly released trailer for "Source Code" makes a strong case that the latter option is equally as awesome.

In the flick, Gyllenhaal plays Captain Colter Stevens, a decorated soldier tasked with figuring out who bombed a Chicago commuter train. And here's the twist: As part of the titular "Source Code" experiment, Stevens investigates the bombing by inhabiting another man's body for the last eight minutes of his life. As it happens, said man was on the train that went boom for those precious 480 seconds, and Stevens must relive the explosive incident ad nauseum, gathering clues each time, so that he can discover the bomber's identity and prevent a second, much deadlier, terrorist attack from killing millions of Chicagoans. Brad Pitt-- "Sherlock Holmes 2" screenwriters Michele and Kieran Mulroney have commented on the long-standing rumors of Brad Pitt playing Professor Moriarty in the sequel. "We're gigantic Brad Pitt fans," said Michele. "I think he's a brilliant actor and a particularly brilliant character actor. And certainly the role that you're talking about of Professor Moriarty is a big character to bite off. I hope Brad likes it. Let's leave it at that." [Collider]

-- "Shrek Forever After" is already slated for a 3-D release, and now DreamWorks Animation plans to give the first three movies the same treatment in a special 3-D Blu-ray Disc release. DreamWorks CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg explained: "To go back and rebuild to a quality 3D experience is not inexpensive, but we are about to achieve a pretty high quality result." "Up in the Air" star Vera Farmiga was nominated for an Oscar last night in the Best Supporting Actress category. Mo'Nique had that one pretty much locked up of course, but Farmiga was still out on the red carpet last night to celebrate both her own work and that of her peers.

One of her upcoming projects is "Source Code," a sci-fi flick from "Moon" director Duncan Jones (the most criminally underrated film of 2009). And given how excellent "Moon" was, MTV's Josh Horowitz had to ask Farmiga if we can expect more of the same in his sophomore effort.

"I can't tell you much," she said after confirming that she starts shooting in April. Read More...

FROM HOLLYWOOD CRUSH: It's coming down to crunch time, people. Today the Golden Globes have announced their list of 2010 nominees. There were some pleasant surprises, some let downs (my heart breaks at "District 9" only being nominated for Best Screenplay), but still plenty of noms that have we at Hollywood Crush pretty darn excited.

First and foremost, both Anna Kendrick and Vera Farmiga got nominated for their outstanding roles in "Up in the Air" (press play above to hear Anna talk about her role). While it's unsurprising, the news bodes well for the two in terms of Oscar talk. However, they're up against some pretty stiff competition with Mo'nique in "Precious," and Julianne Moore and Penelope Cruz are never actors to be taken lightly.

FROM MTV.COM: Already early favorites to win the major trophies of this awards season, director Jason Reitman and stars George Clooney, Anna Kendrick and Vera Farmiga walked the red carpet of their star-studded premiere Monday night. And naturally, the evening's buzz had them floating "Up in the Air."

"I'm trying to look very poised and elegant," a dressed-to-the-nines Kendrick grinned. "I don't know if I'm succeeding."

"I'm nervous right now because I'm outside my premiere for my movie, and that's always an exciting moment," explained Reitman, whose first two films ("Thank You for Smoking" and "Juno") received awards-season recognition, starting a streak he'll likely keep alive. "Particularly at this theater, because we're at the Mann Village Theatre in Westwood; I've lined up on this street for movies since I was 10 years old."

Far closer in spirit and structure to his debut flick, "Thank You for Smoking," than "Juno," Jason Reitman's latest effort clearly is a step up in his increasingly exciting film career. Undeniably moving and heartfelt, "Up in the Air" is one of the year's best and a surefire awards contender for George Clooney, Reitman, and perhaps Vera Farmiga.

The film has been scorching through Toronto, leaving virtually everyone who's seen it gushing about it as the best thing since Billy Wilder helmed "The Apartment." Okay, maybe not THAT much gushing but close. Read More...

Will ArnettWow is this a busy week. After the runaway success of "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" last week -- and other shoe-in blockbusters in the weeks before it -- it's nice to see a little bit of variety for Friday's releases. "G-Force," with showings in two and three dimensions both, is an easy weekend win for families, provided they're not making a repeat (or first-time) trip to Hogwarts.

The CG animated adventure about a secret agent force of talking guinea pigs is a big-ticket item for a number of reasons. It is Disney's first (non-concert) live-action release shot in Digital 3-D. It is also produced by blockbuster-meister Jerry Bruckheimer in his 3-D debut. Then there's the knockout ensemble cast, which includes Nicolas Cage, Penélope Cruz, Steve Buscemi, Tracy Morgan, Will Arnett, Bill Nighy and Zach Galifianakis. Yeah, wow. Read More...
