Vanessa HudgensVanessa Hudgens broke her "High School Musical" mold with this year's "Sucker Punch," and now she'll branch out even further by standing on "Frozen Ground."

Deadline reports that the actress has been cast opposite Nicolas Cage and John Cusack in the thriller based on Alaska's most notorious serial predator, Robert Hansen, who abducted and murdered over 24 women over 12 years. Hudgens will play the one victim who escaped. Cage plays the Alaskan State Trooper who works to bring Hansen (Cusack) to justice.

Love is a drug, and it's one we're getting addicted to in this exclusive clip from "Sucker Punch," which arrives on Blu-ray and DVD next Tuesday (June 28).

MTV News has an exclusive first look at the dance sequence within Zack Snyder's latest. The sexy scene shows a whole lot of seductive dancing between Blue (Oscar Isaac) and Vera (Carla Gugino) to the tune of "Love Is The Drug." Cut into that cabaret-like sequence are shots of Rocket (Jena Malone), Sweet Pea (Abbie Cornish), Blondie (Vanessa Hudgens) and Amber (Jamie Chung) strutting their stuff on the stage while Baby Doll (Emily Browning) hangs in the background.

Zack Snyder's long-awaited cinematic mind-trip "Sucker Punch" finally hits theaters this Friday. At the center of the story are five women, all of them inmates at the fictional Lennox House for the Mentally Insane. They're also exotic dancers, and ass-kicking warriors as well. The film's most intense action unfolds in a sort of fantasy reality. The less said about it here, the better; what you need to know is that each of the five Lennox inmates get to show off their particular talents during these sequences.

To get you in the mood for Friday's release, we're profiling each one right here on MTV Movies Blog all week. We've already highlighted Amber (Jamie Chung), Rocket (Jena Malone) and Sweet Pea (Abbie Cornish), and today we're showcasing Blondie, played by Vanessa Hudgens.

Mila KunisJust in case you missed the news, Mila Kunis is newly single after eight years of dating Macaulay Culkin. Just this week, Warner Bros. released the official plot synopsis for director Zack Snyder's "Sucker Punch," and the online outlets lucky enough to visit the film's set last year were released from embargo to share their experience. So it only makes sense that a kick-ass, full-length trailer has now hit the Interwebs. If you have any knowledge of the film's premise, the trailer definitely fleshes out some of the elements of the plot we've learned this week... but even if you know squat about the movie, this bad boy will knock your socks off.

There's definitely much more exposition in this trailer than this summer's teaser. We see Baby Doll (Emily Browning) lose everyone she loves and get tossed into a mental institution for murdering the man she blames. Read More...

Vanessa Hudgens, Emily Browning, Jamie Chung and Jena Malone are some of the actresses that seem least likely to be the next big action stars, but based on how well-received the panel and footage from their upcoming "Sucker Punch" was on Saturday at Comic-Con, it seems like that is exactly what they are set up to be.

When the four starlets of Zack Snyder's latest project came to chat with MTV at SDCC, they said that they didn't take the violence of the film lightly.

"We probably at the beginning all felt like, oh my God, we don't look like fighters," Browning said. "We're kind of all little girls. We trained our asses off -- we worked really hard." Read More...

One of the things I'm most bummed about missing as my MTV colleagues depart for San Diego Comic-Con tomorrow is the "Sucker Punch" presence there. There's a great deal of mystery surrounding director Zack Snyder's first original feature. In the past year we've spoken with several of the film's stars, and they've all been tight-lipped. Which is admittedly a great thing, but also frustrating with the movie still so far away from release.

MTV spoke with star Vanessa Hudgens over the weekend on the eve of SDCC for roughly the billionth time about the 2011 release. And while she remains just as quiet about the details of this crazy movie, her excitement is palpable.

"Shooting a .50-cal [machine gun], there's nothing like it," she said, smiling. She said as much back in April when we spoke to her, referring to her scene with the tank-mounted .50-cal as her favorite. According to Hudgens, she and her female co-stars really enjoyed the ass-kicking roles Snyder cooked up for them, and the associated gunplay. "I think all of us girls loved it so much. We're all strong individuals, and when you give us a gun... you kind of unleash something." Read More...

"Beastly" takes a tale as old as time and re-jiggers it for modern audiences. While Disney's "Beauty and the Beast" featured animate, talking household items and a "beast" with noble bearing, "Beastly" instead features a horribly scarred rich kid played by Alex Pettyfer, the lovely Vanessa Hudgens as his love interest and Neil Patrick Harris as the beast's blind, wise-beyond-his-years tutor. Check out the debut trailer below, featuring an exclusive introduction from Hudgens.

A couple weeks ago there was news that Ashley Tisdale would be getting her own direct-to-Disney Channel movie, spun off from the teen-friendly hit, "High School Musical." Very little is known about "Sharpey's Fabulous Adventures," other than that it is expected to premiere in 2011. So when MTV's Larry Carroll sat down for a chat with star Vanessa Hudgens earlier this week, he asked if we might see her Gabriella Montez might pop up in the spin-off. Hear Hudgens' response in the video below, then head over to Hollywood Crush for the full report.
