Happy "One Month Until Twilight" Day, everybody! Today's "Twilight" Tuesday shines a spotlight on Anna Kendrick, a talented actress who is so down-to-earth that she's definitely…well, part of a 20-way-tie for my favorite actor in the upcoming movie.
Believe it or not, there are still some "Twilight" haters out there trying to stir the pot. And as the series' young stars continue to grow in fame, I'm sure we'll hear even more stories trying to invent feuds between them.
"My mom tells me this stuff and I wish she didn't," laughed Kendrick when we spoke with her, discussing a rumored rift between herself and Kristen Stewart. "But she reads everything, and you know, she is my mom! She was like, 'Somebody said that you were mean on set,' and I was actually like horrified, you know? Maybe I was having a bad day, and did I take it out on the wrong person? I felt so awful." Read more...
Some people are excited to see Benicio del Toro, while others are talking about the newest "Narnia" character. Personally, I'm more curious to see what Catherine Hardwicke and her "Twilight" team do with Taylor Lautner, an actor who could someday join Lon Chaney and Jason Bateman as the greatest werewolves of all time.
Our interview with Lautner just went live, so be sure to read up on his breakdown of Jacob Black, his new driving skills, and an eagerness to get half-naked. As any Twilighter would expect, the 16-year-old star is eager to film the proposed sequels that would greatly expand his role by putting him into some hairy situations.
"The coolest thing about being a werewolf in the second film, if that were to happen, is to be shirtless; that would be pretty fun," he laughed, thinking about his Portland surroundings. "It would definitely be chilly." Read more...
If it's possible to create a riot in cyberspace, "Twilight" star Kristen Stewart may have done just that a few weeks ago, mentioning a scene in the upcoming movie in which "[Robert Pattinson as Edward] throws me over his back, right before he's going to tell me that he's a vampire, and then he runs over the treetops."
Some 1,600 comments later, the debate rages on, over whether the scene strays too far from the book's depiction. Naturally, when we landed the first-ever on-set "Twilight" interview with Stewart's co-star Rachelle Lefevre, we had to get her thoughts on whether those treetops would be tweaking "Twilight" too much.
"There's a scene where Edward reveals to Bella that he is a vampire, and he doesn't just reveal that he's a vampire, he reveals all that that encompasses," Lefevre said of the script. "It's almost a demonstration, and I think that scene is going to be amazing." Read more...
Seems Ethan Hawke is a bit unstable these days: Recent reports surrounding his new film "Daybreakers" have him playing either a vampire or a researcher, depending on who you ask (and on what day).
Thankfully, we're here to end the confusion. The "Before Sunrise" star's agent confirmed to MTV News that Hawke actually plays both: a vampire researcher who searches for an alternative to human blood, which has become scarce as more and more people become creatures of the night. "It takes place in the future and the whole world is vampires. We're eating our own resources so people are trying to come up with blood substitutes, trying to get us off of foreign humans," Hawke said. "It's a huge allegory for where we are."
But just because it's an allegory for a serious issue (dwindling fossil fuels), that doesn't mean the flick takes itself seriously, said Hawke. "[It's] low art," the former Mr. Thurman confessed. "Completely unpretentious and silly."
"Daybreakers" co-stars Willem Dafoe and Sam Neill.
Serious question: From "Day of the Dead" to "Daybreakers," why does horror lend itself particularly well to satire? Sound off below.
