It's fair to say that "Tron Legacy" is one of the most highly anticipated releases this year. Not only is it a long-awaited big screen return to a beloved franchise, it's also going to sport the latest in 3-D technology. Between that and the December 17 release date, the comparisons to "Avatar" are easy enough to draw.

One of the big draws for many longtime fans of the original "Tron" is the return of Jeff Bridges, who was just nominated for a Best Actor Academy Award for his performance in "Crazy Heart." And finally, we have our first look at Bridges in "Legacy," thanks to this official still from Disney. Click it to check out our full gallery.

For every film that hits theaters, we get at least one trailer, one poster, two clips and four stills. Let’s say two films hit theaters every weekend. That’s about 64 pieces of promotional material a month. Of course that’s only a rough estimate, but it’s clear we’re being bombarded by massive amounts of advertising. Have no fear, Promo Police is here.

In this inaugural article, “MacGruber,” “Kick-Ass,” the kids of “Frozen,” “Tron”’s yellow cycle and the partnership between Adidas and “Star Wars” are all under investigation. Are these suspects transgressors of poor promotion or are they model citizens? Check out the details on their rap sheets. Read more...

Yesterday we revealed a new poster for "Tron Legacy" featuring a slick-looking yellow lightcycle. You can see it right above this text. Nice, eh?

Well we've got more "Tron" stuff for you today, compliments of the movie's director, Joseph Kosinski, one of our "10 in '10" picks this week. He had all sorts of fascinating information to share about the film in a lengthy exclusive interview with MTV. There's a lot of mystery surrounding the coming "Tron" sequel, which hits theaters in December of this year. Hit the jump for some of the interview's highlights. Read more...

"Tron Legacy" can't arrive soon enough, right? The long-hoped-for sequel to Disney's groundbreaking sci-fi flick hits theaters on December 17 of this year, a CG-heavy, 3-D spectacle to rival 2009's year-ending juggernaut, "Avatar." Precious little has been revealed about "Legacy" thus far, but that's all going to change later today.

Director Joseph Kosinski took some time out of his busy schedule recently to chat with MTV at length about "Tron" and more, a participant in our "10 To Watch In 2010" interview series. The goods will show up later today on MTV.com, so stay tuned for some juicy details to finally surface!

Ginormous red carpets are kind of like a round of speed dating. That is if the pool of your potential dates are those that keep US Weekly in business. Heather Graham gives you a once over and then makes a face as if she ate some sour milk as she saunters past. George Lucas pauses, thinks it over, and decides nah, why make me the happiest lad on the carpet (and I actually liked Jar Jar)? On your end, it's a series of split second bizarre calculations your mind is not meant to make. For instance Kenneth Branagh and Joseph Gordon-Levitt walk up to you at the same time but you can only talk to one (some skilled practitioners of the red carpet arts would say grab both but perhaps I'm not there yet), right? What do you do?

Yesterday was my second Globes red carpet. When we arrived I was thrilled to see we had a lovely position next to the giant "Extra" platform (we'll see in the weeks to come if some of that Mario Lopez je ne sais quoi rubbed off on me) and a USA Today reporter who literally almost poked Penelope Cruz's eye out with her umbrella. For all of the spectacle in last night's Golden Globe Awards festivities, the tragic events in Haiti remained on everybody's mind. The collected attendees all had something to say, expressing their thoughts on the red carpet, during the show and at the various after-parties.

In the video below, "Tron Legacy" star Olivia Wilde details a celebrity fashion auction of Golden Globes attire being held to aid in the Haiti relief efforts.

"Tron Legacy" star Olivia Wilde stopped to chat with MTV's Josh Horowitz last night on the red carpet at the 67th Annual Golden Globe Awards. She told us that while she's thrilled to be a part of the classic Disney franchise, she just wants to get the job done without spoiling anything.

"I've seen tiny bits. I don't want to ruin it for myself. But everyone's so excited and everyone's so pleased with the results. I couldn't be happier." Read more...

Without a doubt, 2009 was a kind year for the moviegoing crowd thanks to a wealth of brilliant blockbusters, smaller slices of science fiction, quietly intense dramas and plenty of other standout stories. But that's all in the past now, boys and girls. 2010 is bound to bring bright film prospects that are at least as cool as 2009's offerings, if not better.

It would take a long, long time to go through every single movie that I'm itching to see, but of the new year's upcoming film slate, these are the five theatrical debuts that I'm most excited for. Read more...

There's really not much to say here, as the image speaks for itself. "Tron Legacy" is coming out next December. There will be lightcycles. And now you can see one, right here. Click the image to check out our gallery of official "Tron Legacy" pics.

Here it is, folks. Your very first look at "Tron Legacy." Feast your eyes...

All right, I know it's not the most action-packed view of things. But it's more than we've gotten so far, which is precisely nothing. And it does speak to what will likely be a very slick viewing experience. I certainly want to see more, but I find this image to be very encouraging. Check out the full-sized pic as well as another one over on MSN.
