Transformers fan-favorite characters the Dinobots aren't headed to the big screen in the upcoming "Transformers" sequel, but that doesn't mean they're headed for extinction.

In an interview with MTV, longtime Transformers comics scribe Simon Furman -- who also served as consultant on 2007's Michael Bay-helmed movie -- confirmed that, contrary to initial fan speculation, the upcoming "Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen," will be Dinobot-free.

"I think that possibility was raised briefly and fairly comprehensively shot down," said Furman. "Much as I love the Dinobots, I'm glad." Read more...

Let's have it for corporate partnerships. In a promotion somewhat similar to Dominos' deal with "The Dark Knight,", Walmart customers who purchase the newly released "Transformers" DVD can gain access to a series of production diaries straight from the set of the currently-filming sequel. According to MovieChronicles.com, one video per week (for an undetermined amount of time) is set to roll out on the retailer's special "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" minisite. When Michael Bay got behind the camera for his most recent film, he chronicled a lot more than just automobiles transforming into robots from outer space. Millions of fans also watched then 21-year-old Megan Fox transform from an obscure actress best remembered for a Lindsay Lohan movie into one of the most desired hotties on the planet.

Now, the "Transformers" star is back on the set with Michael Bay -- and true to the director's favorite word, she says he's making an awesome sequel.

"As big as the first movie was, this is 10 times as big, 10 times as many set pieces, explosions, and acrobatic stunts," she told us about "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. "Shia and I make out a little bit; I don't know if anyone wants to see that." Read more...
