The friendship between "Toy Story" heroes Woody and Buzz Lightyear has remained an animated affair — until now.

Tom Hanks
and Tim Allen could bring their partnership to the live-action realm for Disney's "Jungle Cruise," based on the Magic Kingdom theme park. Deadline reports that Disney is trying to bring our favorite "Toy Story" leads together, with Roger S.H. Schulman writing the script. No directors are attached yet and Hanks and Allen's participation is not finalized at this stage.

Beyond the "Jungle Cruise" news, we've got word on Jonah Hill's possible directorial debut and a sexy zombie project from Nicholas Hoult. Read on for more!

Less than two years after the release of "Inglourious Basterds," Quentin Tarantino is ready to start shooting again—and we mean that on more than one level.

Multiple reports have surfaced over the past few days that Tarantino is in the midst of scripting his untitled spaghetti western, a project that he's discussed numerous times over the years. Deadline has official confirmation from Tarantino himself, who says the script is already finished. He'll turn it into The Weinstein Company in roughly two months, according to the site.

Tarantino's long-awaited western is just one of the many news items we're fielding today, so click past the jump for details on Tim Burton's new project and a look at the new "Toy Story" short!

A few months ago, we started your morning with a Daily TwitPic two-fer, a pair of photos featuring some impressive Pixar-themed tattoo art. The pics surfaced because of a Twitter request made by "Toy Story" director Lee Unkrich.

Today's Daily TwitPic is in the same vein. I'm not sure if Unkrich put out another request for body art photos, but he got one that he then re-tweeted. It's a very clever tattoo, simple and not very showy but incredibly evocative of the popular CG-animated series. I'm not entirely sure that it's an actual tattoo -- it could just as easily be permanent marker -- but points to the creator for the idea, if nothing else. Read More...

Christmas is almost upon us, and if you haven't checked everything and everyone off your holiday shopping list, you're a terrible person. We kid! But seriously: nothing says "You're important to me" like a last-minute trip to the mall for scented candles or your third consecutive pair of Christmas mittens.

We've all gotten those crappy goodies during less-than-memorable family get-togethers, just as we've all been given those prezzies that are so superlative they make our hearts sing. And you know who gets the best gifts of all? People in the movies. Before you check under the tree this year to see if your loved ones think you've been naughty or nice, check out our picks for the best presents in movie history. Read More...

I admit it: I'm an overgrown child at heart. Warmoth's Twitter Pic of the Day selection yesterday featured "The Office" star Rainn Wilson's high school yearbook photo. All I saw however were homemade "Toy Story" models. Seriously, young Rainn is cool and all, but this morning's Daily TwitPic shout goes to Pixar's Lee Unkrich for sharing a fan's efforts with the world (wide web).

You'll actually find three pics after the jump, not just one. All three recall scenes from the original "Toy Story," convincing models made out of... well... I can't really tell. The work belongs to Twitter user @peejou, who may or may not explain how she got the job done in her feed. I couldn't tell you, as most of it is written in Japanese. But the work speaks for itself, so hit the jump and enjoy. Read More...

Late yesterday, Disney sent out a release linking to a video message from "Toy Story 3" director Lee Unkrich. There is apparently much reason to celebrate around the Pixar/Disney Animation studios these days, as the 3-D theatrical re-launch of "Toy Story" and "Toy Story 2" in a double feature has been doing very well. So well in fact that the Mouse House has decided to extend the run, which was originally supposed to last for a brief two-week window.

This is great news. The first two "Toy Story" flicks are a lot of fun and all reports indicate that the 3-D upgrades are first rate. If you haven't seen them before, this is the best option for seeing them that's come along in quite some time. And if you have seen them... this is still the best way to watch them. Unkrich also had some news to share on the "Toy Story 3" front, the trailer for which can be seen running in front of the double-feature. Read More...

1. "Couples Retreat" ($35.3 million)
2. "Zombieland" ($15 million)
3. "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs" ($12 million)
4. "Toy Story" & "Toy Story 2" (3-D Double Feature) ($7.7 million)
5. "Paranormal Activity" ($7 million)

Taking vacation time is always a good thing for everybody, but it's particularly beneficial for Universal this weekend as "Couples Retreat" booked a flight to the number one spot at the box office. The film managed $35.3 million over the course of the weekend with a per screen average of $11 thousand, which is hardly a laughable result despite the movie's comedic tone. Read More...

1. "Couples Retreat" ($12.3 million)
2. "Zombieland" ($4.75 million)
3. "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs" ($3.1 million)
4. "Toy Story" & "Toy Story 2" (3-D Double Feature) ($2.54 million)
5. "Paranormal Activity" ($2 million)

The cheese stands alone as the Vince Vaughn-starring "Couples Retreat," the weekend's only new wide release, debuted on Friday in an expected first place finish at the box office. "Couples Retreat" marks the directorial debut of Peter Billingsley, who is most famous for his childhood portrayal of Ralphie in the classic "A Christmas Story" — apparently, Billingsley didn't shoot his eye out, because his directorial vision resulted in an $11.5 million Friday opening according to the numbers from Deadline Hollywood Daily. 1. "Zombieland" ($25 million)
2. "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs" ($16.7 million)
3. "Toy Story" & "Toy Story 2" (3-D Double Feature) ($12.5 million)
4. "The Invention of Lying" ($7.35 million)
5. "Surrogates" ($7.34 million)

Based on yesterday's projections, the remainder of the box office weekend played out as many suspected it would. Unsurprisingly, the Woody Harrelson-starring "Zombieland" took the first place prize with $25 million, surpassing its $23.6 million budget in its first weekend in theaters. The creature-filled dark comedy, which also stars notable up-and-comers Jesse Eisenberg ("Adventureland"), Emma Stone ("Superbad") and Abigail Breslin ("Little Miss Sunshine"), marks the sixth time a Sony film has opened in the number one spot this year.
