Last week, we got our first look at Alan Rickman's Caterpillar in the upcoming Tim Burton-directed "Alice in Wonderland." It was a slightly blurry magazine scan, not necessarily how you'd want to have your first glimpse of the beloved character.
Well you don't have to worry about that anymore. Disney finally issued the full, hi-res images, three posters which combine into a triptych. They'd previously been available exclusively on the Disloyal Subjects of the Mad Hatter Facebook page, but now we have them here for you. Check out the lovely triptych below, or click it to check out our newly updated "Alice" flipbook, complete with a better look at that Caterpillar poster.
FROM MTV.COM: In 2007, Jamie Campbell Bower co-starred in Tim Burton's "Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street." A few years later, after being cast as a vampire in "New Moon," the young British actor has not forgotten the director who gave him his big break, telling MTV News that Burton would be the ideal man to helm the final "Twilight" installment, "Breaking Dawn."
What does Burton think about that idea? When we caught up with the director at the opening of a retrospective of his work at New York's Museum of Modern Art, he was flattered.

Yesterday, we paid a visit to New York City's Museum of Modern Art to take a peek at the upcoming Tim Burton career retrospective exhibit (running from November 22 -- Sunday! -- to April 26, 2010). We've got interviews and video... and PICTURES! There's some crazy stuff in there, including a concept drawing of Brainiac from Burton's aborted "Superman Lives" project. Click the image below to check out the full image gallery.
FROM MTV.COM: Tim Burton definitely has his own aesthetic: part goth, part whimsy, part just plain Burton. Throughout his career, he has established himself as the go-to guy for the strangely charming and bizarre.
Now, the man behind such classics as "Pee-wee's Big Adventure," "Beetlejuice," "Edward Scissorhands" and "The Nightmare Before Christmas" is being honored with a retrospective exhibit of the artwork connected to some of his most beloved films at the Museum of Modern Art in New York this winter. The visionary said he still doesn't believe that the work in the exhibit belongs to him.

New Yorkers get a lucky break in two weeks. Starting November 22 and continuing through to the end of April 2010, a career retrospecting Tim Burton exhibit will live at New York's Museum of Modern Art. The exhibit will consist of sketches, paintings, storyboards, puppets, props, costumes and moving image galleries from Burton projects known and unknown. Fans won't want to miss such a rare opportunity to look closely at the legendary filmmaker's process as brings his out-of-this-world ideas together.
For shame if you don't know who Burton is. He's behind an incredible number of bona fide modern classics: "Edward Scissorhands," "Pee-Wee's Big Adventure," "Beetlejuice," "Batman" & "Batman Returns"... a lot of noteworthy stuff. Today's Daily TwitPic actually comes from MoMA's Twitter feed. They posted an image yesterday, a sneak peek at a few of the items which will be incorporated into the exhibit. Check it out after the jump. Read more...
Cancelling "Dollhouse" disappointed a lot of Joss Whedon fans when FOX announced that it had pulled the plug, but Eliza Dushku felt the brunt of the decision as hard as anyone. She faced her Twitter followers with the news today and a sad smiley.
Mike Tyson, meanwhile, reportedly faced a paparazzo, landing at least one good punch, and Kirstie Alley has his back in Twitter-Wood. There were a few great pics today in the feed, too, including a shot from MoMA's new Tim Burton exhibit and Sarah Silverman's birthday tribute to her show's multi-talented producer, director and writer Rob Schrab, better known to any comic book readers out there as the creator of "Scud: The Disposable Assassin." Check those out after the jump and find out which "Twilight" actor visiting Alex Rodriguez's home. It's all in the Twitter-Wood report for November 12, 2009. Read more...
I'm a longtime fan of Tim Burton and a forever fan of Disney's animated classic, "Alice in Wonderland." So the idea that the two are combining into one beautiful work of nightmare-inducing psychedelia has me pretty tickled. So as you might imagine, I've been following the upcoming movie's development pretty closely.
All along, the one thing I've been most excited about seeing -- and the one thing that's been kept under wraps for all this time -- has been the character of the hookah-smoking caterpillar, who will be voiced by Alan Rickman. It made me feel better when Tim Burton told us over the summer that he hadn't even seen the character yet, but it's still an itch that I've been hoping to scratch. Not anymore though! Read more...
FROM MTV.COM: Tim Burton digs supernatural stories: the goth-comic ghost tale of "Beetlejuice," the headless killer from the great beyond in "Sleepy Hollow," the undead love story of "Corpse Bride." In a way, Burton knows vampires too, resurrecting Bela Lugosi — the definitive cinematic Count Dracula — in the Oscar-winning biopic "Ed Wood."
All of this has made "New Moon" vampire Jamie Campbell Bower think that Burton should direct "Breaking Dawn," the expected film adaptation of the final book in Stephenie Meyer's "Twilight" series.

FROM SPLASH PAGE: Before "The Dark Knight," many fans wondered how Jack Nicholson's portrayal of the Joker in Tim Burton's "Batman" could ever be topped, least of all by the seemingly unnatural choice of Heath Ledger. But if you believe one certain rumor, Nicholson almost lost the part to another actor—none other than Willem Dafoe.
Dafoe's IMDB page harbors a curious bit of "trivia," which states that the actor was considered for the Clown Prince of Crime in the Burton-directed "Batman." MTV News went straight to Dafoe for official word on the rumor, and while the actor said he was never considered for the Joker role, he did have an early attachment to the 1989 film.
"Very early, they talked to me about playing Batman," Dafoe told MTV News.

--I love Sci Fi Wire's crazy, crazy list features. The cereal one from the other day is going to be tough to top, but today's "movie and TV clowns that scared the hell out of us" is pretty fantastic. Or it would be, if clowns didn't already scare the crap out of me. Kudos for including Pennywise from Stephen King's "It" and -- more importantly -- the Killer Klowns from "Killer Klowns from Outer Space." Another door?!?! (Sci Fi Wire)
--All this month, Cinematical is highlighting the top bad guys in movies -- "Villains We Love," as they call it. Today's pick is a special one for me, since it comes from Tim Burton's "The Nightmare Before Christmas." MTV Gore Girl Jenni Miller writes of villain Oogie Boogie, "He's a singing, dancing sack full of worms with a striped tongue." That sounds about right. Head over to Cinematical for a great meditation on the glory of Oogie Boogie. (Cinematical) Read more...
