Has there ever been a more perfect match for a movie soundtrack than Daft Punk and "Tron: Legacy"? Certainly there are few collaborative efforts that have received as much fan excitement as this one. Daft Punk is going to be involved in a good portion of the "Tron: Legacy" promotional efforts as the days tick down until the film's December 17 release, and that explains why the latest trailer is really a music video for one of the 24 songs on the "Tron: Legacy" soundtrack, "Derezzed."
The only new scene in the trailer is a shot of the Daft Punk duo, Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter, in their cameo as disc jockeys at a nightclub within the digital world. And those costumes that they're wearing aren't even costumes, but just the typical outfits that Daft Punk wear during all their performances. 'Lord Of The Rings' Gets Retold From The Perspective Of Mordor

Yet one Russian novelist felt otherwise. In 1999, paleontologist Kirill Yeskov wrote a novel called "The Last Ringbearer" which revisited the climactic final battle of "The Lord of the Rings" from the perspective of Sauron's underlings. In this version, Gandalf is a war-monger whose sole purpose is to crush the scientific and technological initiative of Mordor while Sauron is forward-thinking by passing a "universal literacy law." It's certainly a different take on the story, to say the least.
Salon recently reviewed the novel in its new English translation, and though they debated whether it qualifies as fan fiction or something greater, the online mag felt the book was a soaring accomplishment all the same.
