All week long, we’ve been giving you an exclusive look at the new “A-Team,” straight from the mouth of the director of the June 11th film that will bring them to the big screen, Joe Carnahan. From B.A. Baracus to “Howlin’ Mad” Murdock to the villainous Lynch, fans seem likely to see a good mix of the old and the new. Now, “A-Team Week” continues with an exclusive peek at the prettiest part of the crack commando unit: The Face Man.
“I think Dirk Benedict gave [Bradley Cooper] the biggest compliment: ‘This was who I wanted to be’,” Carnahan recalled of the day when the original Templeton Peck visited the set to film a cameo. Read more...
As we were reminded recently when we caught up with Todd Phillips, director of “The Hangover,” everyone involved with the sequel to 2009’s most surprising hit is keeping their lips zipped. All he’d reveal to us is that there’ll be more Bartha.
But, as those who’ve already enjoyed the four-buddies-in-Vegas flick will remember, a key subplot involved scandal-plagued boxer Mike Tyson. And in one of the many other interviews Phillips has done promoting this week’s “Hangover” DVD release, the filmmaker stated (joked?) that he wants to use the sequel to give the same treatment to Tiger Woods.
Yep, that Tiger Woods. Read more...
For years, Todd Phillips –- arguably the best comedy director in the business right now whose name doesn’t rhyme with Bud Apatow -– was pestered by fanboys and film writers alike trying to get the deets on “Old School 2.” Now, the good news is that people seem to have finally stopped asking about a sequel to the Will Ferrell/Vince Vaughn/Luke Wilson hard-partying hit; the bad news, however, is that it’s because they’re all asking for the latest on the sequel to this past summer’s Bradley Cooper/Ed Helms/Zach Galifianakis hard-partying hit.
“Right now we’re figuring all that stuff out,” the affable Phillips responded this week when asked about a second installment of “The Hangover,” which hits DVD and Blu-Ray this week. “Don’t put me on the spot.” Read more...
Getting some of the funniest guys in show business and dropping them in Vegas for a bachelor party sounds like a winning formula, but nobody expected "The Hangover" to gross a whopping $450 million dollars worldwide. Now the film is hitting DVD and Blu-ray, and is our lead film for this week's DVD Report.
Todd Phillips already had hits like "Old School" and "Road Trip" in the bank at the time he was begged to director "The Hangover," and the veteran comedy helmer pulled together a cast of unproven but fan-favorite stars. Headlining the zany misadventure romp would be Bradley Cooper (best known as the quintessential a-hole in "Wedding Crashers), Ed Helms ("Daily Show" and "The Office" alum) and underground comedy icon Zach Galifianakis. While all three shared a level of success, none had ever held a film together on their own, making this a considerable experiment for all involved. Read more...
Hit summer comedy "The Hangover" hits DVD and Blu-ray today. The story follows three friends who take their soon-to-be-married pal to Las Vegas for his bachelor party. Drinks are consumed, blackouts follow and the trio awaken the next morning to find their affianced fourth missing in action. That's what happens when you have a wild night in Vegas.
They begin to piece together the lost night from their home base in one of the luxurious suites at Caesars Palace, a Las Vegas staple. In this exclusive clip below, from the DVD/Blu-ray extras, members of the cast and crew talk about the experience of arriving in Vegas for the first time, securing shoot access for Caesars and -- naturally -- losing money during the production's downtime.
Before "The Hangover" became one of the biggest success stories of 2009, it was just a Warner Bros. comedy starring that guy who cheats from "He's Just Not That Into You," the dude from "The Office," and some short, fat guy with a beard.
Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms and Zach Galifianakis weren't putting all their eggs in one basket, because I'm fairly certain none of them expected "The Hangover" to gross over $459 million in the worldwide box office. In fact, the stars of "The Hangover" have been some of the busiest guys around Hollywood over the past year. Here's a look at what else they've been up to since "The Hangover" hit theaters in June -- beyond, of course, preparing for 2011's "The Hangover 2." Read more...
The 2010 Golden Globe nominations hit this morning. As per usual, this triggered a stream of reactions from celebrities and the press that covers them. You can't have an awards show without a little bit of post-nomination griping. Which of course paves the way for post-win griping. As you might expect, eyes are primarily focused on the Globes' two biggest categories: Best Drama and Best Comedy/Musical. So that's the first one we're going to consider too: what's right, what isn't, who's deserving, who's notably absent... Read more...

The nominations for the 2010 Golden Globes were released this morning. We knew they were coming of course, but that didn't stop the surprises. MTV's Eric Ditzian considered the possibility yesterday that "Avatar" would join the more predictable Best Drama nominees as a wild card, but I'm still somewhat surprised to see it on the list. It's a great movie and director James Cameron deserves the accolades he's receiving, but I would have preferred to see one of the more original contenders, such as "District 9" or "Moon" in its place. Of course, this speaks to the monumental year that Hollywood has had; it's hard to make a case that any Best Drama Contender doesn't deserve to be there.
The Best Musical/Comedy category is a bit more discussion-worthy. Where on earth is "Zombieland"? Or hell, how about "The Informant!"? I would have taken either of those over "The Hangover," which seems to be there purely for its surprising summer box office performance. It was an okay movie, with a few high points, but not exactly what I'd call one of the best comedies of the year. Hit the jump for the full list of nominations. Read more...
This is not the same Ed Helms we saw earlier this summer in "The Hangover." Maybe it's close to what his character became by the end of that movie, but this guys looks much cleaner, much slicker. He looks like a shark. I'm fairly certain that's the point too, as Helms will play the son of a rival car dealer out to screw over the competition in this Friday's "The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard."
I'll admit, "District 9" has kept this summer comedy more off my radar than it should be. As an avid "Entourage" watcher, I'm a big fan of Jeremy Piven. Helms joined Zach Galifianakis in stealing the show in "The Hangover," and the duo are joined by an excellent cast which includes Ving Rhames, David Koechner ("Anchorman"), James Brolin, Alan Thicke, Tony Hale and Kathryn Hahn. Check out the full poster after the jump. Read more...
-- Wait... you mean an IESB rumor has been debunked?! I don't believe it. A weekend rumor that Steven Spielberg is interested in at the very least producing an adaptation of the hit video game "Halo" has been officially put to rest. Microsoft commented on the "news," stating that any "Halo" motion picture projects are officially on hold while the publisher concentrates on making games. I can't imagine why. Maybe it's the $60 price tag vs. the $10 movie ticket. (Kotaku)
-- Molly Ringwald wrote out a lengthy, heartfelt remembrance of her tragically fallen "Breakfast Club" and "Sixteen Candles" director, John Hughes. A lot has been said of Hughes in the past week, but Ringwald's reminiscence eclipses them all. (The New York Times) Read more...
