Craig Gillespie’s “Fright Night” remake has found its vampire: Colin Farrell. As reported by THR, he’ll go up against Anton Yelchin as Charlie Brewster in the remake of Tom Holland’s 1985 horror classic. Also joining the fun is Toni Collette, who is on board to play Charlie’s mother, one of many who just can’t resist her bloodsucking neighbor’s charm. Gillespie’s version will stick to the basics of the original, focusing on young Charlie's supicions about his neighbor Jerry, whom he believes to be a vampire. He confides in his mother as well as his best friend, Evil Ed and girlfriend, Amy, but no one believes his accusations.

With vampires continuing to be the hot thing in Hollywood, “Fright Night” should be a welcome edition to a genre that’s on the verge of growing tiresome. We’re not in for another dose of sparkling beasts or even creatures of the night with an affinity for gore. In fact, “Fright Night” is just the opposite; it’s an amalgamation of horror, suspense, camp and the teen factor, a la John Hughes, that feels remarkably real.

Of course, good source material doesn’t guarantee a well-made film, even with such a notable cast attached. Luckily there are tons of hits and misses in the world of horror reboots that Gillespie can consider when assembling the pieces of his re-creation. Check out this list of winners and losers to see where they went right and where they went wrong. Read More...

Zombies"The Crazies" is not a zombie movie. Although it's a remake of an older movie made by zombie godfather George Romero, the crazy freaks that populate Breck Eisner's latest thriller aren't of the undead variety. For some reason, plenty of films – horror or comedy, good or bad – are inexplicably labeled as part of the zombie genre, even when there isn't an undead flesh-eater in sight.

Beyond the jump, we've listed a few flicks that some casual moviegoers might mistakenly describe as an exploration of the walking dead. Read More...

So I've been milking this whole "Eric is a Hollywood superstar" thing for a couple days, based on my seconds-long cameo in "The Crazies." But now as the horror flick, about a town accidentally infected with a government-engineered bio weapon that turns everyone into crazy-eyed killas, opens on Friday, it's time to tell the true story of my time on set. By now I hope you've taken in the story of how I went from mild-manner entertainment journalist to Hollywood mover-and-shaker because of my role in "The Crazies." I'm kind of a big deal.

But we haven't yet shown you the entire exclusive clip from the film. The scene picks up about thirty minutes into the film, as a mysterious insanity-inducing, bloody murder-generating plague has descended on the population of Ogden Marsh, Iowa. Sheriff David Dutton (Timothy Olyphant) and his pregnant wife Judy (Radha Mitchell) are just trying to figure out what in the hell is going on when government soldiers in hazmat suits descend on the town and institute a military lockdown. Judy ends up being admitted into the quarantine as David fights like crazy to free her. He's unsuccessful and, well, hit play on the video to find out what happens next.

Directed Breck Eisner ("Sahara"), "The Crazies" opens this Friday, February 26.

Some people feel the need to apologize for having an ego, a sense of swaggering self-love, for being an asshat. Not me. Not after what is surely my star-making turn in "The Crazies," the horror remake about a town overrun with a government bio-weapon that drives its citizens to murderous insanity (out this Friday, February 26).

Allow me to explain. Last spring, the folks at Overture Films called up and asked if I might like to fly down to Georgia for a juicy "Crazies" role. My first thought? "It's about damn time!" Granted, it'd been a while since my last thespian turn, somewhere around the age of seven when I debuted as the male lead in "The Woodcutter and his Wife." But I knew I had what it takes to become a Hollywood star.

And as I settled into my scene opposite Radha Mitchell, as I vomited fake blood and she screamed like a mad woman, I knew a Hollywood star I would soon become. Check out the video to get the full story of my journey from MTV Movies writer to future Oscar-winning actor and tabloid fixture. Internet, I am ready for my close-up...
