Sandra BullockLast year, Sandra Bullock scored the two biggest box-office hits of her career, "Alfonso Cuarón's 3-D space thriller "Gravity."

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Bullock is in negotiations to star opposite Robert Downey Jr. in the film that has already seen a bevy of beautiful A-list actresses come and go.

Originally set up as a star vehicle for Angelina Jolie, Brangelina's poutier-lipped half departed the flick when Warner Bros. reportedly balked at her $20 mil salary. This summer, the studio talked to Marion Cotillard, screen-tested Scarlett Johansson and Blake Lively, then shifted their gaze back to Jolie. None of this yielded a leading lady, so WB started talks with Natalie Portman, who's garnering the strongest buzz of her career for the upcoming psychological thriller "Black Swan." Read more...

Sandra Bullock's 2010 got off to a tremendous start, career-wise. She won an Oscar, a Golden Globe, a Critics' Choice Award, a People's Choice Award, a Screen Actor's Guild Award and an Image Award, all of them for her performance in "The Blind Side." She also picked Worst Actress and Worst Screen Couple awards at the Razzies for "All About Steve." She not only accepted the dubious awards with grace, she also made history by becoming the first Oscar winner to also win a Razzie in the same awards season.

Sadly, Bullock's personal life has not been as kind. There are unconfirmed reports that the actress has left the Southern California home she shares with her husband, TV personality Jesse James, due to marital difficulties. This isn't the forum for bringing out all of the gossip surrounding Bullock's personal life, but suffice to say it is causing her grief. It's come to the point that Warner Bros UK issued a statement revealing that Bullock won't be attending next Tuesday's London premiere of "The Blind Side" due to "unforeseen personal reasons." Sandra Bullock and Julia RobertsIn light of her recent Best Actress victory at the Academy Awards, "The Blind Side" leading lady Sandra Bullock is understandably enjoying some time in the spotlight. With more than a few projects already lined up, Bullock's future is pretty well covered. The road that led to the Oscars, however, is somewhat more mystifying, but it sure has a lot in common with Julia Roberts' own career.

That's not to suggest that Roberts is responsible for Bullock's award-winning performance — though the "Pretty Woman" star was reportedly the first choice to play Leigh Anne Tuohy in "The Blind Side," a role that Roberts ultimately declined. But looking past that irony, Roberts' career path is actually quite similar to Bullock's in many ways. Read more...

FROM MTV.COM: For seven long years, she was the girl in that failed movie/TV show that you vaguely recognized. In 1994, she took the bus ride from hell with Keanu Reeves and became America's new sweetheart. Now, after a decade and a half as the A-list star of various chick-flick hits, Sandra Bullock has begun a new stage of her career: Oscar nominee.

Oddly enough, Bullock's sweet success was made bitter by another distinction: a Razzie nomination for Worst Actress. Being simultaneously nominated as the best and worst at your job is something truly rare. Yet, for Bullock, such a dichotomy seems oddly appropriate.

FROM MTV.COM: In the hours since the early morning announcement of the 82nd Academy Award nominations, reactions from the Hollywood elite recognized by the Oscar gods have been rolling in.

Sandra Bullock, who nabbed a nod for her turn in "The Blind Side" (also a Best Picture selection), told The Hollywood Reporter, "I'd always assumed that the road to Oscar was planned. I thought people chose projects that were considered 'Oscar-worthy.' No one wanted to make this film. I didn't want to make this film for the better part of the year. Everyone is as blindsided — can I say that? — as I am."

FROM MTV.COM: Days after winning its seventh-straight weekend at the box office, "Avatar" nabbed nine nominations for the 82nd Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Director, tying "The Hurt Locker" for most Oscar nods in 2010. "Inglourious Basterds" garnered eight nominations, including Best Picture and Best Director, while "Precious: Based on the Novel 'Push' by Sapphire" and "Up in the Air" collected six and "Up" secured five.

For the first time since 1943, when "Casablanca" triumphed, the Oscars have selected 10 nominees in the Best Picture category, rather than the usual five. Despite the increased number, there were few surprises. Joining Cameron's big blue-alien epic are "The Hurt Locker," "Inglourious Basterds," "Up in the Air," "Precious, "District 9," "An Education," "A Serious Man," "Up" and "The Blind Side."
