The Hollywood Reporter announced Lautner's commitment to "Armstrong," Universal's upcoming 3-D adaptation of the Hasbro toy property slated for release at some point in 2012. The film was initially scheduled for May 15, 2011, before Lautner's involvement.
"Stretch Armstrong" focuses on an uptight spy who inadvertently exposes himself to a formula that allows him to physically stretch his body to great lengths. With his newfound ability, the spy is forced to not only re-adjust to everyday life, but also to rethink his own crime-fighting tactics.
FROM HOLLYWOOD CRUSH: "New Moon" may not be nominated for a single award at the Golden Globes, but that doesn't mean the supernatural blockbuster won't be represented when the 67th annual show airs on Sunday, January 17. Werewolf Taylor Lautner will be on hand as a presenter, according to an Associated Press report, joining a predictably deep pool of top Hollywood talent.
FROM MTV.COM:Taylor Lautner's got abs of gold. "New Moon" has reeled in $288 million in just seven weeks in theaters, making it the fifth-highest-grossing film of the year and climbing. Now the movie's star is about to get paid. Big-time.
Lautner is set to earn $7.5 million for his next picture, according to a Deadline Hollywood report, making him the highest-paid teen in Hollywood. The film, titled "Northern Lights," is about a young aerobatics pilot who falls in love with a female pilot. Helmed by "Max Payne" director John Moore, the film is set to start shooting on April 1.
FROM HOLLYWOOD CRUSH: It's not even 2010 yet, but already we're counting down the days until "Valentine's Day" hits theaters. Ensemble romantic comedies tend to be some of the better rom-coms that are put out nowadays (look at this year's "He's Just Not That Into You" or our personal Christmas favorite, 2001's "Love Actually"), and even though we have some reservations on how this particular star-fest will hold up, it's still something we can't wait to see.
The second trailer (see it after the jump!) hit theaters over the weekend, and it's definitely showing off its aspect that is getting all the buzz: its massive cast. We see in the trailer how much of the film will be spent interweaving its characters with one another, such as can be seen with Ashton Kutcher in particular and at the Anti-Valentine's Day party lead by Jennifer Garner and Jessica Biel.
The decision-makers at Summit Entertainment know a good thing when they see one. By good thing, I mean Taylor Lautner. By Taylor Lautner, I mean shirtless Taylor Lautner fighting bad guys and stuff.
That's the method to Summit's madness as the movie studio is developing a new action film for "The Twilight Saga: New Moon" star Lautner titled "Cancun" based on a spec script from Eric Champnella and Grant Thompson. Lautner is developing the film alongside his father Dan Lautner. Read more...
You probably know this if you're a "Twilight" fan, but "New Moon" star Taylor Lautner hosted "Saturday Night Live" this past weekend. The episode had its highlights and its lowlights, as has become the standard for the sketch comedy series in more recent years. The best moment may well have been Lautner's opening monologue, during which he referenced his relationship with a "certain country singer," his abundant shirtlessness in "New Moon" and his inappropriate response to the Kanye West/Taylor Swift showdown at the MTV Video Music Awards. He also showed his badass tendencies with some impressive kung fu/dance stylings.
Check out the monologue in the clip below or head over to Hulu.com for the full episode.
FROM MTV.COM:Taylor Lautner has already wrapped production on what will become his first onscreen appearance following his breakout turn as heroic werewolf Jacob Black in "The Twilight Saga: New Moon": a turn opposite rumored real-life girlfriend Taylor Swift in the ensemble romantic comedy "Valentine's Day."
But Lautner's next role might return him to hero territory. The Los Angeles Times reports that the 17-year-old is circling "Max Steel," Paramount's planned big-screen adaptation based on the Mattel toy line. The character has also appeared in an animated TV series and within the pages of a comic book.
While "New Moon" has certainly accrued fan approval and box office power since its release on November 20, critics haven't had the same appreciation for the vampire romance. "Eclipse," the next in the series, wrapped in October and is slated for a June 30, 2010 release, we have a few suggestions to help make it a film everyone -- not just Twilighters -- will enjoy.
Amp up the Bella and Edward romance "Twilight" established the potent romance between Bella and Edward, but "New Moon" sacrificed much of the chemistry for the sake of Bella's growing bond with Jacob. Granted, the reason why Edward was mostly absent during "New Moon" was because he broke up with Bella and was moping around in an apartment for months on end, but Chris Weitz forgot to reestablish why exactly Bella and Edward were so in love. With "Eclipse," we hope David Slade explores their connection, especially with so many fans jumping ship to Team Jacob after seeing Taylor Lautner's abs. Read more...
One of the reasons the ladies love "Twilight" -- and "New Moon" in particular -- so much is the abundance of well-manicured male pecs on display. And while much has been made of Taylor Lautner's -- ie Jacob Black, werewolf -- abundant shirtlessness, his pack brothers, the so-called Wolf Pack, spend a lot of their screen time in states of half-undress.
Of course, with any film as large as "New Moon," you're going to have a backup plan. What if someone gets sick? Has a death in the family? Is torn to shreds by a werewolf that's broken out of its cage? You've got to be prepared for these things. Tinsley Korey, who plays wolf-boy Sam Uley's fiancee Emily, shows us just how UNprepared director Chris Weitz was for a Wolf Pack breakdown in today's Daily TwitPic. I warn you: the image that lies after the jump is... disturbing. Read more...
FROM HOLLYWOOD CRUSH: In case you were knee-deep in Stove Top stuffing and green bean casserole last week and missed the news, "New Moon" hottie Taylor Lautner will be hosting "Saturday Night Live" December 12 with musical guest Bon Jovi. Though we, along with many Twilighters, had been campaigning for Robert Pattinson to secure hosting duties, we couldn't be more excited for the 17-year-old to grace the Studio 8H stage. In fact, we've even dreamed up a few sketch ideas for the star. "SNL" scribes, we hope you're listening!
We know it's going to happen, the only question is how will it? Though several humorous scenarios ran through our minds (Taylor as vampire!), the one that tickled our funny bones the most was seeing Taylor cast as Bella Swan (just like his maybe girlfriend Taylor Swift was when she hosted!). I mean, come on, he already has the wig for it! With Andy Samberg as Edward Cullen, any moment from either the first or second film would be hilarious, but we're hoping for the Volterra scene from "New Moon." Taylor splashing through a fountain and running into the arms of Andy would be epic.
