--This news just arrived in my mailbox, so consider it hot off the presses. Overture Films has issued a casting announcement for Matt Reeves' "Let Me In," a remake of the Swedish vampire flick "Let the Right One In." Joining the cast are Kodi Smit-McPhee ("The Road"), Chloe Moretz ("500 Days of Summer") and Richard Jenkins ("The Visitor").

--As if the badass trailer for Chris Nolan's "Inception" wasn't enough to get you excited, there's more news on the hush-hush project today. IMAX Corporation announced that the sci-fi flick will hit IMAX theaters and regular theaters simultaneously on July 16, 2010. And yes, that is too long to wait for something that looks so freaking cool. (ComingSoon) Read more...

Milk may have been a bad choice for Ron Burgundy, but it was a very, very good decision by longtime comedy partners Will Ferrell and Adam McKay to collaborate in 2004 on “Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy.” Now, the duo are wise enough to finally be working out plans for a sequel –- so wise in fact, that they’re like little Buddhas, covered in hair.

“We have an idea, we love it, we’ve talked to the cast and they all love it,” writer/producer/director McKay revealed recently, giving us news we love more than lamp. “It’s all about the scheduling now.”

Echoing the recent statements of his producing partner Judd Apatow, McKay left open the possibility that Ron, Champ, Brian, Brick and the rest of the gang could be glimpsed at a different time in their lives. Rather than making them elderly, McKay seemed to like the idea of an '80s news team staying classy in San Diego. Read more...

-- Ian McKellen told attendees at an all-night "Lord of the Rings" screening that an actor has been selected to play Bilbo in "The Hobbit." There are no further details than that, though McKellen also mentioned that he'll be getting the script "within the next week." This falls very deeply into the rumor territory for now, though I have little doubt that a script exists or that there's a Bilbo short list. Especially since "Hobbit" director Guillermo del Toro told us as much in an interview. (TheOneRing.net)

-- The word is the "Fight Club" and "Zodiac" director David Fincher is all set to direct the Aaron Sorkin-penned "The Social Network," also known as "the Facebook movie" in some circles. As you might expect, the story follows the rise of the beast that we call Facebook and its founder, Mark Zuckerberg. Sorkin and Fincher make for odd bedfellows; I'll definitely see this one. Paul RuddWhile visions of "Anchorman" and "The 40 Year Old Virgin" might dance in your head at the thought of Steve Carell and Paul Rudd reuniting, you should resist them, and try to concentrate on this film instead, as it's taken a long and painful road to the big screen. According to Variety, Jay Roach ("Meet the Fockers") is finally getting his "Dinner With Schmucks after numerous cancellations caused by the Paramount-DreamWorks divorce, and the departure of original star Sacha Baron Cohen.

It's finally found new life at Paramount, with Rudd and Carell coming aboard to star. The film is a remake of the 1998 French film "Le Diner de cons" and centers on a group of men who have a weekly habit of having a dinner party, and inviting the most pathetic and idiotic guests they can find. Steve CarellWhen you think of macho, macho men, you probably think of Sly Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, the 300 Spartans, or the Greatest Badass of All, Clint Eastwood's Dirty Harry. You may have to redefine that list after seeing the upcoming "Hi-T" and add a man named Steve Carell.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Carell is set to produce and star in "Hi-T," a Warner Bros. comedy that's all about masculinity. Carell will play a man who begins taking testosterone injections after an injury leaves him unable to produce it. (If you remember your biology class, you'll remember where testosterone is produced -- so expect a crotch shot of epic proportions.) Read more...

Steve Carell3-D, CG animated films are all the rage in kid's entertainment at the moment -- and they just keep landing incredible voice casts. Variety reports that Steve Carrell, Jason Segel, Kristen Wigg, Will Arnett, Danny McBride, Russell Brand, Jermaine Clement, Jack McBrayer, and Julie Andrews will all be providing voices "Despicable." Whew. If you're out of breath just reading that, imagine what it was like to type it!

Carrell will play the lead, an unpleasant (some might say despicable) man named Groo, who comes up with one heck of a heist plan -- he wants to steal the moon. Luckily, he has the backing of his equally evil mother (voiced by Andrews). The only flaw comes by way of three orphan girls, who somehow come under his undoubtedly lousy care, and won't leave. Steve CarellWho would have ever thought Steve Carell would suffer from a Napoleonic complex? According to Variety, he's signed on to play the title role in "The Adventures of Brigadier Gerard," a comedy set during the Napoleonic Wars.

The movie is based on a series of stories by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (who seems to be enjoying a Hollywood renaissance lately) and follows Brigadier Gerard, who is convinced he is the bravest soldier, the greatest with swords and horses, and the handsomest and most gallant lover in all of France. He is, of course, believing this with the greatest humility. Read more...

Steve CarellIt didn't take a genius to figure out that Steve Carrell's "Get Smart" remake would end up a franchise. I remember seeing the first promo at Comic-Con 2007, before it was replayed into numbing oblivion, and knowing it was not going to be the only one. People were going too nuts for it. And Carrell was just too perfectly cast as Agent Maxwell Smart.

Warner Bros has only just started mobilizing the sequel, so it's uncertain as to whether the rest of the cast will return. But Anne Hathaway already told MTV that she'd love to reprise her role as Agent 99. And surely they can write a return for Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson? He needs a break from Disney movies! As a huge fan of the classic Sixties show “Get Smart,” the best compliment I can give to this summer’s big-screen remake is that it missed being good by that much. You could see the Rock twist coming a mile away, Steve Carell was a bit too smooth with his portrayal of bumbling spy Maxwell Smart, and don’t get me started on the dumb idea of making the Cone of Silence CGI – but still, it wasn’t “Honeymooners” or “Bewitched” bad.

Since it made some money at the box-office, and even loyalists like myself might be willing to give the series one more chance, talk has turned to pre-release quotes from the cast that they’d be willing to do a sequel. And Anne Hathaway (possibly the best part about the flick) re-affirmed her commitment to us this week, saying she’d love to take another crack at sexy/smart Agent 99.

“I would love to do a second one,” she insisted. “But I haven’t heard if we're going to. I hope we get to. I really loved playing Agent 99, it would be fun to do all the training again, and hanging out with all those boys was so much fun.” Read more...
