FROM HOLLYWOOD CRUSH: Unofficial “Twilight” Twitter accounts are now out of fashion, as the Saga now has its own official home on Twitter at @Twilight, and its follow list is the most official listing for movie-verified cast accounts that you’re likely to find. The series’ hunks Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner may still be absent from the micro-blogging site – as is Kristen Stewart – but the 20 accounts it does follow span the Cullen family, “New Moon,” “Eclipse” and Stephenie Meyer’s universe.

Here’s a rundown of who they are and where you can find them:

(not so fast, Twilighters-- head over to Hollywood Crush for the juicy list!)

FROM HOLLYWOOD CRUSH: "New Moon" is still two months away from hitting theaters, "Eclipse" is filming and Summit Entertainment is figuring out who is doing what in "Breaking Dawn" pre-production, but with film rights for Stephenie Meyer's "The Host" being purchased earlier this week, the focus has shifted away momentarily from "The Twilight Saga" and instead to its science fiction cousin.

I've met plenty of "Twilight" fans who still haven't read "The Host," even though its maintained its spot on the New York Times bestsellers list from its debut in May 2008. In many ways, I like it more than "The Twilight Saga" for its intriguing plot and interesting characters. The dynamic relationship between Melanie, a rebel human trying to resist an alien invasion, and Wanda, the alien or Soul who possess her body, is the driving force of the entire novel, and a really intriguing one at that.

In other news, water is still wet. I think the most surprising thing about the news that "Twilight" author Stephenie Meyer's novel "The Host" got picked up for a big screen adaptation is that it took so long to actually happen. Summit Entertainment has been doing so well with the "Twilight" series, you'd think they would have optioned the other Meyer book ages ago.

Instead, Nick Wechsler, Steve Schwartz and Paula Mae Schwartz ponied up to grab the rights for themselves, tapping "The Truman Show" writer Andrew Niccol to develop a script, according to a report in Variety. Wechsler and the Schwartzes are also the producers behind director John Hillcoat's upcoming adaptation of Cormac McCarthy novel "The Road." Read more...

FROM SPLASH PAGE: Last month, we told you about the upcoming biography comic book about "Twilight" author Stephenie Meyer. Timed to hit shelves in November (right alongside the next film in the franchise, "New Moon"), "Female Force: Stephenie Meyer" arrives in two formats: a standard comic and a limited-run, 32-page version featuring an illustrated history of Forks (the town where "Twilight" takes place) and an alternate, Stephenie Meyer cover that we debuted exclusively on Splash Page.

Now, courtesy of the crew at Bluewater Productions, we have an exclusive, five-page preview of "Female Force: Stephenie Meyer"—as well as a two-page preview of the "History of Forks" story found in the special, extended edition of the comic.

As any Twilighter knows, vampires sparkle in the sunlight as though they have diamonds embedded in their skin. "Twight" author Stephenie Meyer's vampires do at least. That's the one big regret "New Moon" actor Edi Gathegi, who plays Laurent, has as his character bids farewell to the series. I'm not going to spoil it for those who haven't read the book, but suffice to say that Laurent isn't in any condition to come to the party in "Eclipse" and "Breaking Dawn."

The actor, who appeared in New Jersey this weekend for an official Summit/Creation Entertainment "Twilight" convention, is nonetheless happy about his work in the first two movies and thankful for the time he's had. "Honestly, perspective," he said. "I'm happy I'm in 'Twilight.' I'm happy I made it to 'New Moon.' Things could be worse." Read more...

In a somewhat amazing turn of events, "Twilight" author Stephenie Meyer is getting the comic book treatment. Not the high school vampire stories that she wrote mind you, but the author herself. That's not news anymore; word hit in the first week of August that the latest in Bluewater Productions' "Female Force" series of comics would focus on Meyer.

The reason you're reading this post is the big "EXCLUSIVE" right up there in the headline. Over on MTV Splash Page, you can take a first look at the cover for the comic as well as the not-yet-circulated official press release. I don't want to spoil all of the good stuff, but it seems that a certain well-known vampire will be narrating the comic. Head over to Splash Page for the rest of the details, as well as the full cover shot.

Last week, the "Twilight"-loving Internet was set ablaze when the news broke that Rachelle Lefevre, who played Victoria in "Twilight" and the upcoming "New Moon," would be replaced by Bryce Dallas Howard in "Eclipse," the third movie in the series based on Stephenie Meyer's popular book series. As you might imagine, Twilighters had some things to say over the weekend at the annual TwiCon gathering. See for yourself:

You Twilighters here on the MTV Movies Blog had plenty to say yourselves too. In fact, that's why I'm here today. I figure if we're going to highlight TwiCon goers on video, I can at least highlight some of you commenters here on the blog. So keep reading for some of your own thoughtful responses to the Lefevre/Howard controversy. By the way: kudos to you all for keeping things relatively civil and respectful. Read more...

Stephenie MeyerI may not have read any of the "Twilight" books, but I'm having a grand old time following the allegations of plagiarism lodged against Stephenie Meyer by one Jordan Scott. It isn't quite as hilarious as the "Metallica sues band for use of E, F chords" thing, but at least this story is true. To catch up you newcomers in the peanut gallery:

Stephenie Meyer is the author of the insanely popular "Twilight" book series, the last of which is called "Breaking Dawn." It's about modern-day vampires and werewolves, and Mormon love. Jordan Scott is the author of the virtually unknown book, "The Nocturne." It's about a young sorcerer and his lady-love in 15th century France. Both feature weddings, honeymoon getaways and life-threatening pregnancies. The verdict? Stephenie Meyer is a big, fat copycat!!!!! Riiiiiiiiight. Read more...

Breaking DawnThis is a big, fat, ugly rumor as far as I'm concerned, spawned off of some hopeful fan who sees the last "Potter" book, "Deathly Hallows," headed for a duology and wants "Twilight" to one-up it. I know there's been talk of a "Breaking Dawn" two-parter, but three movies for this single book seems excessive. As many of you readers know, I haven't read Stephenie Meyer's books. But you'd better believe they live here in the office. Just going by simple page counts, I don't see enough content in "Breaking Dawn" to sustain a trilogy.

As I understand it, the plan is to break things up according to how things are laid out in the book. So Edward (Robert Pattinson) and Bella's (Kristen Stewart) wedding/honeymoon will serve as the first movie, Bella's pregnancy from Jacob's (Taylor Lautner) perspective as the second and the early years of Bella's newborn for the third. (Did I get that right?!) Read more...

Stephenie MeyerFROM MTV.COM: There are some things you can always count on in one of today's modern vampire novels: a breathless, cross-species love affair, bone-breaking lovemaking, lots of smoldering eyes and buckets of spilled blood. But, according to TMZ, an author named Jordan Scott claims she saw a few too many similarities between her 2006 vamp tale, "The Nocturne," and "Twilight" scribe Stephenie Meyer's 2008 book, "Breaking Dawn."

In a cease-and-desist letter obtained by the site, Scott's publisher claims the fourth book in the "Twilight" series has "striking and substantial" similarities to "The Nocturne," part of a trilogy that 21-year-old musician/author Scott began writing when she was 15.
