FROM SPLASH PAGE: Sure, Anne Hathaway is the latest in a long line of rumored contenders for the role of Black Cat in "Spider-Man 4" (even though there's no confirmation the character is even in the film), but does anyone remember another rumor from a few years back that cast an entirely different actress in the role?
Well, even if you didn't remember the pre-"Spider-Man 3" rumor that had "Dollhouse" actress Eliza Dushku playing cat burglar Felicia Hardy, we did — and we asked her about it when she dropped by Splash Page HQ a while back.
"Don't you love the Internet and the fans out there?" Dushku laughed when MTV Movies Editor Josh Horowitz asked if she'd seen the fan-made "Spider-Man 4" posters with her as Black Cat. "They do it up!"

FROM SPLASH PAGE: A while back, the third "Batman" movie seemed to be the subject of new casting rumors every day — from Michael Caine's assertion that Johnny Depp would play The Riddler to a British tabloid's "scoop" that Shia LaBeouf would play Robin. Nowadays, though, "Spider-Man 4" has been receiving the lion's share of casting rumors, including quite a few that have popped up, circulated widely and subsequently been debunked within the last week.
Last week, many blogs echoed an anonymous rumor that Rachel McAdams would play Black Cat, only to have the actress dismiss the casting report this week. The dust had barely settled, whoever, when another Black Cat rumor hit the 'Net — this time, featuring Julia Stiles.
So, now we find ourselves wondering which one of these rumors you'd like to see become official. Is it one of the Black Cat rumors or something else entirely? What about Dylan Baker's potential return as The Lizard or Bruce Campbell's "meaty" cameo?

While the villain might thrive on the bright lights of Broadway courtesy of Alan Cumming, original Green Goblin actor Willem Dafoe's future involvement in the Sam Raimi-directed franchise isn't exactly a certainty—in fact, Dafoe himself still doesn't know whether he'll appear in future "Spider-Man" movies.

FROM SPLASH PAGE: As we reported last week, much about "Spider-Man 4" is still in flux: Gary Ross is currently hard at work on a draft of the script after getting notes from director Sam Raimi and they claim they're still figuring out which villain makes the most sense to compliment Peter Parker's character growth in the picture. What's more, beyond the return of franchise stars Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst, few decisions about the cast have been made.
All of which makes comments that Raimi's buddy Bruce Campbell made last month extremely interesting, when he told Access Hollywood he'd have a major role in the new film.
When MTV News had a chance to talk to Raimi, of course we needed to know if Campbell was speaking the truth. After sneaking into cameos in the first three "Spider-Man" flicks, has the "Evil Dead" star really nabbed a major part in the fourth installment?

With just a single announcement, a "World of Warcraft" movie went from an eye-rolling geek joke to something any film fan wants to see. What was that stroke of greatness? Sam Raimi!
According to Variety and Ain't It Cool News, the director of a thousand genres has signed on to helm "Warcraft," a live action adaptation of the wildly popular online role-playing game for Warner Bros. The project has been in limbo since Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures teamed up with Blizzard to develop the game into a big screen adventure. Things have gotten serious now, with Raimi and Charles Roven, producer of "The Dark Knight," both confirmed to be on board. Read more...
FROM SPLASH PAGE: While chatting with Marvel Comics' Spider-Man editor, Steve Wacker, about "Spider-Man: The Short Halloween" (written by "Saturday Night Live" regulars Bill Hader and Seth Meyers and previewed on Splash Page), the conversation turned to the famous wall-crawler's return to the big screen. Naturally, I had to ask Marvel's go-to Spidey guy who he'd like to see Peter Parker battle in "Spider-Man 4."
"I like The Vulture," Wacker told MTV News. "The flying around would be cool, and if you cast Larry David in that role, I'll watch forever -- even if it's just a beginning fight, with Spider-Man beating on Larry David with wings."
"Morbius would be awesome, but who do you put in that?" added Wacker. "I guess you put the guy from 'Twilight,' right?"

Director Sam Raimi and Tobey Maguire are locked in, the story is being fleshed out and so fans are dying to know: where will the Peter Parker story take us next and what will be the villains that he has to face?

FROM SPLASH PAGE: The fourth film in the blockbuster "Spider-Man" franchise will begin shooting in 2010, actor J.K. Simmons told MTV News at Sundance, revealing that he'll continue in the role of Daily Bugle publisher J. Jonah Jameson. "I saw Sam [Raimi] at his Christmas party."
The news appears to confirm earlier reports that Sony was looking towards a May 2011 release.
