From the minute rumors started circulating earlier this week about an alleged Rat Pack movie starring George Clooney as Frank Sinatra and Angelina Jolie as Marilyn Monroe we smelled, well, a rat. Too good to be true? Of course it was.
Aside from the fact that the “Salt 2” talk is already cranking up (not to mention a busy schedule that includes “The Tourist” and possible turns as “Cleopatra” and “Maleficent”), the superstar Jolie casting sounded like some kind of a secret Freemason film dream to finally complete Jolie’s impossible leading man trifecta (Brad, Johnny and George). Angie’s reps quickly quashed the rumors that she was locked in to star in the adaptation of the “dog’s-eye view” book “The Life and Opinions of Maf the Dog, and of His Friend Marilyn Monroe,” which will tell the story of the couple’s relationship from the view of the Scottish poodle Sinatra gave to Monroe as a gift.
That still got us thinking and scheming, though, about our own dream cast for “Maf.” Read more...

I'm not trying to rain on Warmoth's parade in running this Twitter-Wood special report, but this feels newsworthy. Director Oren Peli's "Paranormal Activity" is something of a sensation. Three weeks into its limited release (yet slowly widening) run, the (roughly) $11,000 budgeted found footage horror/suspense flick has earned more than $30 million in box office sales. It's downright staggering.
The success owes its thanks largely to two factors. One: the movie is actually damn good, featuring some well-crafted smoke & mirror and believable performances from the newcomer stars. Two: Paramount has waged an incredibly successful grassroots promotional campaign, built largely on extending the film's word-of-mouth appeal through social networking tools. Micro-blogging service Twitter has of course been one aspect of this campaign, and even celebrities have been getting in on the fun. This Twitter-Wood special edition is all about rounding up those celeb tweets. So hit the jump and enjoy!

From Newsroom blog: On Monday night's red carpet for the Film Society of Lincoln Center's annual gala, the focus was mostly on honoree, Oscar-winner and all-around swell guy Tom Hanks. That is, until our own Josh Horowitz had a chance to speak with Charlize Theron and the talk turned to stars of a very different variety.

Looks like the drama from "The Hills" has lept off screen and straight into Hollywood. After superstar Charlize Theron shared her not so dazzling opinion of the hit MTV series, we of course had to ask two of the show's most notorious stars -- Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt -- about the actress' comments as the dynamic duo hit up a local Taco Bell to help fight world hunger (seriously!).
While Lauren may have made peace with Charlize, needless to say Drama King himself Spencer wasn't feeling Ms. Theron's thoughts about the show that made he and his boo famous, and went after Charlize hard. After Heidi mentioned that she's not part of the demographic, Spencer took a jab at the age of the starlett saying, "I think she's like 65 or something?" Tsk, tsk Spencer, you should never make fun of a lady's age! I guess Heidi thought Spencer went too far, because she looked at him and told him to "be nice." Check out the shenanigans below.

Did you hear the one about the internationally known comic who watches "The Hills"? There's no punch line to that, by the way. "That's the joke," Seth Rogen laughed, "the fact that I watch the f--king 'Hills.' "
It's actually not just one joke, but a bunch of jokes. And if you're lucky enough to be at the right L.A.-area comedy club this summer, you might hear 'em all, Rogen said. In preparation for the new Judd Apatow movie about the world of stand-up comedy, he'll be trying out a bunch of new material. His best stuff? Well, Spencer, Heidi and a rabbi walk into a bar ...
"I haven't done [stand-up] in almost eight or nine years," he confessed. "I've been writing some jokes. They're varying degrees of hilarious, [and the best stuff] is some 'Hills' jokes. I'm just writing on premises — I haven't really flushed it out yet.
"I watched the sh-t out of 'The Hills.' I don't know what else to say," he continued. "I watch the living crap out of it." Read more...
