500 Day of Spider-Man

An odd holiday release schedule broke this week's programming into three different openings for three different movies, but as we head into the weekend, MTV Movies Blog has your movie pairings for everything that came out this week.

Read on for this week's Double Feature Friday!

"The Amazing Spider-Man" & "(500) Days of Summer"
These two films don't play well together simply because Marc Webb directed both of them. The shared quality does, however, explain the more important aspect that they share. I wrote about it briefly in my review of "The Amazing Spider-Man," but Webb's only two feature films contain two of the most emotionally honest and unabashedly cute movie romances of the last few years. Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone's on-screen chemistry will definitely stir up any left over feelings you may have for the days when Joseph Gordon-Levitt's Tom and Zooey Deschanel's Summer first met.

Odds are that if you've seen a "Savages" trailer, poster or TV spot for Oliver Stone's new ensemble crime thriller, you're well aware that there is a lot going on in this film. There's a star-studded cast, lots of drugs, lots of blood, lots of violence.

In the week leading up to the film's release, we've already covered some of the film's serious subjects, like the stars' thoughts on the film's gratuitous violence and equal opportunity nudity, as well as the leading ladies' argument for why their characters are both motivated by love, not war.

As such, we thought we'd end the week on a humorous note and prep a little quiz for stars Taylor Kitsch, Aaron Johnson and John Travolta to see how familiar they were with other Savages in pop culture. The results were entertaining, to say the least.

Defective Comics

Deep down inside, Bruce Wayne is just a normal guy, who has to occasionally go to IKEA just like the rest of us. In a new series of illustrations, Daniel Danger and Olly Moss are proving just that.

Savages Banner

The closer we get to the July 6 release date of "Savages," the more intrigued we get by its line-up of leading actors. Oliver Stone's latest stars Aaron Johnson, Taylor Kitsch, Blake Lively, Salma Hayek, Benicio Del Toro and John Travolta, and they all look like they're giving performances at the top of their game.

A new series of clips from the film have been released (via Collider), and they showcase some of the great onscreen chemistry that we're going to be privy to in the upcoming movie. But what the scenes did more than anything else was solidify our excitement for Hayek's villainous turn as the Mexican Baja Cartel leader Elena. One clip featuring her and Lively's Ophelia is particularly tense, and we have a feeling Hayek is going to be getting a lot of attention for her role in this film.

Savages Banner

Oliver Stone's "Savages" is basically guaranteed to be a messy affair. First, there's a pair of buddies, played by Taylor Kitsch and Aaron Johnson, that grow and sell weed together. Then, we find out that they share a girlfriend (Blake Lively). When she gets kidnapped by the Mexican cartel, they have to go after her.

As you can see, things get a little complicated over the course of the film, so if you want a quick debriefing about who is who and who is sleeping with whom, there is a new series of in-character interviews with the cast.

Shaquille O'Neal

Sadly, the picture above is not from the set of a "Steel" prequel. A boy can dream, can't he? It is, in fact, from the set of "Grown Ups 2," which, to be clear, is not a prequel to "Steel."

Also, Travis Bickle trades his gun for a Nintendo Zapper and the Simpsons make movie references in today's Dailies!
