Lindsay LohanIt's summer movie season, which means horror fans have sun, surf, and killer fish on the brain. We've been bringing you tons of "Piranha 3DD" news – because life just doesn't feel complete without it – but this week's best in horror updates also skinny-dips, battles sharks (and some invisible sea creatures), and heads to Venice, California.

Movies like "Hobo With a Shotgun" and "Machete" have breathed new life into the exploitation subgenre, and "Skinny Dip" is upping the ante with a great cast that includes Sasha Grey, badass Danny Trejo, and now Pam Grier, Michael Madsen, and Brigitte Nielsen. Meanwhile, Halle Berry is battling sharks in "Dark Tide," but the cast of "Sector 7" has to deal with a transparent monster on board their ship. There's a vampire on Venice Beach that wants to take a bite out of you. No, it isn't Lindsay Lohan, but she's dressed to kill for a new bloodsucking photoshoot that "Buffy" star Sarah Michelle Gellar would probably put a stake to.

It's all in this week's Horror Bites after the jump.

Hugh Hefner and Crystal HarrisMemories and condolences in the wake of R&B performer Teena Marie's death were out in force in Twitter-Wood this morning. Ice-T, Quinton Aaron, Sasha Grey and Tyrese Gibson all noted her importance and expressed their grief in posts, whether they were friends, fans or both.

Hugh Hefner's engagement to 24-year-old Playboy Playmate Crystal Harris also attracted attention today. Patton Oswalt and Seth Green both contributed opinions on that front, while Tinsel Korey shared her favorite scene from "Eclipse." You can find out what that was and see how Zachary Quinto feels about the blizzard he came face to face with after the jump.

SkylineNow that a cholera epidemic has reached Haiti's capital, Port-au-Prince, and the death toll is climbing toward 1,000, the worsening situation has become a recurring topic of conversation in our Twitter feed. Danny DeVito was searching around for something to do to help yesterday, while Olivia Wilde shared a picture from a Haitian pediatric hospital where she's been hanging out.

In movie-related posts, "Skyline" prompted a few micro-reviews over the weekend. Sasha Grey broke her spectrum of reactions down into a single tweet and may have managed to break a Twitter-Wood record for most sentences in a single post. Check it out after the jump and see if you share her sentiments. Even if you don't, you'll see what Eli Roth received for participating in a "Scream" documentary and what Marlon Wayans recommends for the Minnesota Vikings.

Some citizens of Twitter-Wood were able to score seats inside or at home during the MTV Video Music Awards last night. Dane Cook and Chris Pine found themselves on the wrong side of a locked door right before Eminem's performance, judging from a post on Cook's account.

Meanwhile, much of Hollywood has been focused on Toronto in recent days with the Toronto International Film Festival underway. James Gunn and Rachelle Lefevre both had important screenings going down according to their feeds. You can find out a bit more about them below along with the reason Jessica Simpson gave for sustaining rug burns yesterday and the memento Alison Brie took home from Fashion Week in New York.

Sasha Grey made her proper Hollywood debut last year in Steven Soderbergh's "The Girlfriend Experience" and now she's back for more. The adult film star is in talks to line up her next Hollywood role, a part in Mark Pellington's upcoming drama "I Melt With You."

The Hollywood Reporter brings word that Grey is "in negotiations" to join a cast that includes Thomas Jane, Rob Lowe and Jeremy Piven. She would play Raven, "a free spirit who helps one of the men realize that nirvana can only be achieved by death." Sounds pretty out there. The movie follows a group of college friends who do some soul-searching during their annual summer reunion; they subsequently decide to "resurrect a pact they vowed to live, die and kill by," whatever that may mean. Sounds dangerous though. Pellington, who directed "Arlington Road," "The Mothman Prophecies" and "Henry Poole Is Here" (among others), is no stranger to unusual stories and plot twists.

This was one of those Twitter-Wood Mondays where I could have easily put together a double-installment, what with everyone remembering the late Peter Graves' "Mission: Impossible" days, reactions to "The Pacific" and a truly disturbing "Twilight" doll that Alex Meraz TwitPic'd.

Still, today's highlight may have been Russell Brand's commentary on Lady Gaga's "Telephone" video, which incidentally was not banned by MTV. In fact, I wish I could turn on a Brand audio track during some parts of the video. Check out his Twitter account for more than what I've retweeted, and find a depiction of Robert Pattinson, some fratty guys on Splash Mountain and more in Twitter-Wood for March 15th, 2010. When Sony announced their plan to reboot their Spider-Man movies, the future of the franchise became last night's unofficial Twitter-Wood topic of discussion among skeptics, fans and even cast members. Elizabeth Banks, for one, said her farewell to playing Betty Brant with a tweet, while "Community" star Donald Glover put his name out as an option to replace Tobey Maguire and Joe Lynch just wonders how long the "Iron Man" films will last before the same fate befalls them.

And speaking of the "Iron Man" films, director Jon Favreau like the "Thor" set so much when he visited that he's now announced he'll be dropping by as frequently as possible. Those posts are all retweeted after the jump where you can also find out which actress says "Youth in Revolt" reminded her of her own life and whether or not Wil Wheaton plans on playing "Star Trek Online." It's all in the Twitter-Wood report for January 12, 2010. Read More...

For those of you following the Edi Gathegi and Christian Serratos' exchanges of the last few days, there are two more to share today, including a photo proving that the two "New Moon" performers were able to connect. Gathegi may have even had to naked for the occasion, according to Serratos' account, but don't worry. The picture is totally SFW.

Tom Hanks stepped into the recording studio for "Toy Story 3," meanwhile, and the film's diligent director Lee Unkrich documented their their session. Check out all of those posts after the jump where you'll also find Simon Pegg's beef with Jar Jar Binks, Kat Dennings' new rule about seal impression etiquette and what Brian Lynch wants to see happen with the fourth "Twilight" movie. It's all in the Twitter-Wood report for December 10, 2009. Read More...

Editor's note: There were apparently some technical difficulties last night, as Twitter-Wood never ran. So in lieu of today's Daily TwitPic, here's a special morning edition of Twitter-Wood for 9/14/09.

The VMA's trended nearly as well in the Twitter-Wood feed last night as they did on Twitter, and if you've had any internet access over the last 24 hours you probably know that a lot of that was provoked by Kanye West's unexpected interruption during Taylor Swift's acceptance speech. Elizabeth Banks, Kat Dennings, John Stamos and others contributed to the online conversation that followed, expressing their thoughts on his interjection.

Football was pretty popular last night as well, and if you didn't know that Ashton Kutcher was a Bears fan, you do now, thanks to Demi Moore's photo tweet of her defeated fan-husband after the Green Bay Packers stuck it to Chicago in the fourth quarter. Check out all of those posts, as well as Edgar Wright's suggestion to Jason Reitman, Sasha Grey in a Wonder Woman costume and much more. It's in the Twitter-Wood report for September 14, 2009. As you may recall from yesterday's Twitter-Wood, John Stamos called upon one of his Twitter fans to post a photo of his alleged Uncle Jesse-based tattoo. Well today that tweeter responded in kind, and the wrist tattoos are linked to at the top of the report for all to see now.

In other tweets, Robert Rodriguez gleefully celebrated his confirmed actors for "Machete," calling out Jessica Alba and Robert De Niro. As it turns out, the director has his own Twitter fan in Dane Cook, who's read the script. Kristen Bell, meanwhile, claims to have been reading "hacked" tweets coming out of her account. In what may be a related event, Dax Shepard called out a poser using the fake name @IMkristenBeII (note how two upper case i's can resemble two lowercase L's), who tried to break up with him. You can check out all that drama and more below. I'm @brianwarmoth, and this is the Twitter-Wood report for August 27, 2009. Read More...
