Chris HemsworthIt's official — that Chris Hemsworth fella is a bona fide movie star.

The "Thor" actor has enjoyed two back-to-back weeks in first place at the box office, and he's certainly seeing some rewards: Deadline reports that Hemsworth's deal for "Snow White and the Huntsman" has officially closed, locking him into the starring role opposite "Twilight" favorite Kristen Stewart. Definitely an exciting next step for both the rising star as well as the project itself, which has struggled to find its Huntsman for some time now.

Despite rumors to the contrary, "Hanna" star Saoirse Ronan is not headed to Middle-Earth.

"It's probably not going to work out with 'The Hobbit,' unfortunately," Ronan told the Belfast Telegraph in a recent interview. "I would have been working for about a year on it and there were other projects that I was very interested in, but Pete and [his producer wife] Fran have been very good about it and very understanding."

Bummer to hear it, but we'll get our Saoirse fix soon enough when she gets in front of the camera for "The Host." In the meantime, let's focus on some happier Hollywood news. Past the jump, get the lowdown on Matt Damon's possible directorial debut and much more!

Saoirse RonanIf one person's going to represent the dwindling human race in the face of an alien invasion, we could do far worse than "Hanna."

Our friends at Hollywood Crush report that Saoirse Ronan, who took on the title role in this year's awesome action flick "Hanna," is set to star in "The Host," based on a novel from "Twilight" author Stephenie Meyer. Ronan would play Melanie Ryder, one of the last survivors of the invading Souls, an alien species that can possess human bodies. Melanie comes under the possession of Wanderer, but the strong-willed teenager refuses to surrender her consciousness and the two form a bond in the process.

There's plenty more news out there today beyond Ronan's latest role. After the jump, we've got an update on "Kill Bin Laden" and a follow-up to our report on Christoph Waltz's status in Quentin Tarantino's new movie.

Did you take my advice and check out "Hanna" over the weekend? Something tells me that a bunch of you did. Although it wasn't the number one movie at the box-office, it managed to beat Russell Brand's "Arthur" for second place. In other words, "Hanna" may have just missed the box-office's heart, but she was certainly close to the mark.

So, let's review: a successful opening weekend for a character that, in my opinion, has tons of franchise potential — could it be long before we hear official talk of a sequel? When I spoke with leading lady Saoirse Ronan last week, I put the question to her — and unsurprisingly, it wasn't the first time she'd been asked about sequels.

"[Director Joe Wright and I have] talked about it a little bit because journalists keep bringing it up," she said with a laugh. "You're like the tenth one or something, at least!"

"But it's great that people have that kind of reaction to it," she quickly added, affirming that, yes, she would love to pursue a "Hanna" sequel.

Look around the web for news on "Hanna" star Saoirse Ronan's upcoming projects and you'll notice at least one particular standout: according to multiple outlets, she's starring in Peter Jackson's "The Hobbit" as Itaril, an elf specifically created for the director's two-part imagining of the classic J.R.R. Tolkien novel.

As great as that casting would be, it's simply not set in stone just yet. I spoke with Saoirse earlier in the week and brought up "The Hobbit," reminding her that I and countless others are very much pulling for her to get involved with the "Lord of the Rings" prequels. And as much as she herself would love to join the project, the occasional assassin says that nothing is confirmed as of yet.

"I'm so boring," she laughed when I asked her for an update on her "Hobbit" status. "Nothing's confirmed, but I know that [Jackson and his team have] been working on the script really hard and I think they're going to introduce a few more characters, so we'll have to wait and see."

Something tells me we'll be hearing Saoirse Ronan's name quite a bit in the coming years. Having already turned in stunning performances in "Atonement" and "The Lovely Bones," the Irish actress is about to deliver her most surprising turn yet as the central heroine of "Hanna," playing a teenage assassin raised in isolation and sent off into the world on a high-risk mission fueled by vengeance.

"Hanna," which arrives in theaters this weekend, marks the second collaboration between Ronan and director Joe Wright. It's no wonder that these two enjoy working together — their partnership has paid off in two very memorable movies thus far — but despite what you may have heard, don't bank on them reuniting for a third film, at least not just yet.

Rumors have pegged Saoirse for a supporting role in Wright's developing adaptation of Tolstoy's "Anna Karenina," with the director himself admitting that he'd like her to join the film. But as of now, Ronan says she's not a part of the project.

A list of actors tapped to read for the role of Peeta Mellark has hit the web, and Hollywood Crush has the rundown on the fan favorites who made the cut (most notably Hunter Parrish) and those who didn't (goodbye, Alex Pettyfer). There were also a few actors noted who were expected to try out for the other lead, Gale, including "Hunger Games" fan Liam Hemsworth.

Armie HammerWhere "Snow White" loses one man, she gains another. Except we're not exactly talking about the same Snow White, are we?

Earlier today, we brought you the sad news that Viggo Mortensen has dropped out of "Snow White and the Huntsman," leaving the Kristen Stewart-starring adaptation without a leading man for the time being. While the search is still on to replace Mortensen, a different "Snow White" project is picking up some steam in the form of a new casting addition: Armie Hammer.

Deadline reports that "The Social Network" actor, who starred in the Oscar-winning film as the infamous Winklevoss Twins, is joining the cast of what was once called "The Brothers Grimm: Snow White," but has since been referred to by Relativity Media as an "upcoming untitled Snow White feature based on the Brothers Grimm story." Any bets on the new title?
