Robert Downey Jr. I felt guilty even as I wrote that headline. Guy Ritchie is a cool guy. I was pleasantly surprised at how pleasant he was to chat with a few months back. I came away really liking him. Problem was that film ("Revolver") was kind of unwatchable and a lot of his recent stuff hasn't really been all that great.

So as much it might sound like brilliant casting for Robert Downey Jr. to play perhaps the most famous detective in literary history, I worry. Not for Downey who will surely make something arresting and innovative out of the part but really, does it have to be helmed by Guy? Does anything on his resume give you hope he has a Sherlock tale in him? As I said, I worry.

Am I being too tough on Guy? Am I missing something here? What kind of a Holmes do you think Downey will be? And here's a question to ponder: who should play Watson?!?

Robert Downey Jr in 'Tropic Thunder'When talking about upcoming films, most actors will tell you that they hope it makes waves, wows critics, or at least scores tons of money.

Brandon T. Jackson, meanwhile, just hopes "Tropic Thunder" doesn't send him to Hell.

"Hopefully everybody doesn't get too pissed off and we all can have a good time and laugh together," he laughed.

What has Jackson anxious isn't the film itself, but his co-star Robert Downey Jr. who portrays a white actor who becomes a black man for a movie. Not a white actor in black face, mind you, but a "black man," Jackson insisted at the red carpet for "Iron Man." Read More...

Iron ManRemember the last property you worshipped that was bastardized by Hollywood? Alright all of you irate "League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" fans, sit down. Now to be fair, thus far most of what we've seen of "Iron Man" has gotten we, the die-hards, pretty pumped. Like how they're using the armor from that first "Tales of Suspense" appearance?!? And the fact that they're apparently setting up James Rhodes to don his own armor in a sequel? And what about those glimpses of Iron Monger?!?

Okay, sorry. Lost it for a second. But seriously, what do you think? We want to hear from you. It's T-minus three weeks until "Iron Man" opens. What NEEDS to be in the flick? Hints of Tony Stark's alcoholism? A cameo by Stan Lee? Some memorable quote or allusion that makes Iron Man the character and franchise you love? We'll be taking the best comments to the cast, and it might even end up on MTV.

It's now or never! Sound off. What damn well better be in "Iron Man" to make you, the loyal fan, happy?

Robert Downey Jr in 'Tropic Thunder'Much to Ben Stiller's chagrin, the cat is now officially out of the bag about Tom Cruise's cameo in "Tropic Thunder" (check out our new Ben Stiller interview here). This morning, the New York Times reported at length about Cruise's performance in Stiller's upcoming big summer comedy. So the surprise is gone. Oh, well. But I am here to tell you that it will do nothing to detract from your enjoyment of "Tropic Thunder" when it opensĀ August 15. And it all comes down to one man. No, not Cruise. Robert Downey Jr.

I've seen "Tropic Thunder" and as I've been telling anyone who will listen since, Robert Downey Jr.'s performance is absolutely one of the funniest I have seen in years. Read More...

Robert Downey Jr.During a recent sit-down with actor Robert Downey Jr., the question of cameos was the burning question at hand. After all, we've been reporting for the past year that everyone from Sam Jackson to Hilary Swank are seemingly making the trek to Tony Stark's neck of the woods. And that's not even including William Hurt's admission to MTV News in February that he shares a scene with Downey in "The Incredible Hulk."

So how did Downey respond to our inquiries? Well, he did admit that one unnamed star would "probably appear in the end credits" of "Iron Man," but refused to confirm whether the subject in question is Jackson, Swank or a third party. He managed to be a bit more forthcoming on the topic of his "Hulk" cameo, revealing the moment in question. Read More...

Up, up and away! OK, so maybe it's a different superhero that typically spits out that catchphrase, but in this spankin' new photo from the highly anticipated blockbuster flick "Iron Man," Tony Stark is in the early stages of elbowing into Superman's airspace.

This screenshot is an early peek from the "Iron Man" Super Bowl TV spot that will air on Sunday. It's also significant because it gives fans a peek at the underground garage of billionaire industrialist Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) and one of his early versions of the iconic suit, both of which we could only describe after we crashed the Marvel Comics set in June.
