This bit of news falls into that murky grey area between MTV Movies Blog and Splash Page. On the one hand, it's an all-new horror property from an established gore-nography director. On the other, there's a graphic novel tie-in being produced and the studio in charge of the project is a spin-off arm of a comic book publisher. Since Splash editor Rick Marshall is out at Comic-Con right now, I'm going to take this one for Movies today. Shhhh... don't tell him.
To those of you who skimped on your high school French -- or those who took Spanish/Italian instead -- "abbatoir" translates to "slaughterhouse" in English. It is fitting then that Darren Lynn Bousman, the director of "Saw II" through "Saw IV," is set to spill blood in Radical Pictures' new property, "Abbatoir." Bousman's last project was "Repo! The Genetic Opera" and he's also signed on for a remake of the 1980 horror flick "Mother's Day." Clearly, the man has a specialty. Read More...
We have to hand it to Paris Hilton, socialite heiress and star of the upcoming film “Repo," who has been having a lot of fun recently with her image in a series of campaign ad spoofs, the first two of which aired on FunnyorDie.com.
So in the spirit of good fun, we wanted to know: if elected, what would her first act be as President of these United States? “To get more jobs to get the economy better,” Hilton told MTV News. Also on the agenda? "To paint the White House pink."
TO GET MORE JOBS TO GET THE ECONOMY BETTER! Has any politician ever had as clear a plan? As robust a platform? As tantalizing a solution to what ails us? Agree or disagree below.
FROM HEADBANGER'S BLOG:What could Paris Hilton possibly have in common with Filter’s frontman Richard Patrick, Slipknot percussionist Clown and Ozzy Osbourne bassist Blasko — besides a taste for Paris’ homemade porn, that is? They’ve all contributed to the wacko horror film songfest “Repo! The Genetic Opera,” the soundtrack of which comes out September 30. The opera also features Broadway star Sarah Brightman, Paul Sorvino, “House of 1000 Corpses” actor Bill Mosely, ex-From First to Last singer Sonny Moore, Skinny Puppy screamer Nivek Ogre and more.
Now our demented breathren over at Headbanger's Blog have a brand-new guest blog from director Darren Lynn Bousman in which he reveals his music-laden fantasies, along with offering up eight songs from the offbeat production, which is best described as a cross between “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” and “Blade Runner.” Click here to read more on the Headbanger's Blog...
He’s one of the most successful horror directors of all-time. But where does guy who brought us three “Saw” films and the upcoming “Repo! The Genetic Opera” go to find his dream project?
Would you believe at the end of a rainbow?
Believe it, Darren Lynn Bousman insisted, telling MTV News that the project he most wants to do next is “Leprechaun.” No, seriously.
“I would do ‘Leprechaun’ in a second,” the amiable Bousman laughed. “If Lionsgate is listening, give me ‘Leprechaun.’” Read More...
Over the weekend at Comic-Con I was given the opportunity to moderate the panel for "Repo: The Genetic Opera," a crazy out there (in a good way) rock opera starring the likes of Paris Hilton, Alexa Vega, Paul Sorvino(!). You can check out our exclusive clips right here.
After I interviewed Paris and Alexa and before the public panel started I got a picture with the lovely young ladies as did MTV News producer Todd Brown. It was only after I closely studied the photos that I noticed a bizarre phenomenon. Take a look at my pic and you'll see what I'm talking about.
This begs the question: why did I so conspicuously not rest my hand on Paris' back? Was I nervous? Was her slight figure too narrow for me to get my bearings and know where to place my hand? Surely this was a unique problem to me. But no... Read More...
