Lots going on in this new poster from "Sherlock Holmes," directed by Guy Ritchie. The latest take on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's classic hits theaters on Christmas Day, December 25.

You can see all sorts of crazy action happening in those little boxes on the side. There's Rachel McAdams and Mark Strong, who play Irene Adler and Lord Blackwood, respectively. I also see a dog, a bird, some keys and a gun, and a bottle of what appears to be poison. And of course Holmes (Robert Downey Jr) and Watson (Jude Law) in the middle of it all, cool and collected, as ever. Hit the jump for the full dealie. Read more...

It's been a while since our visit to the set of "Sherlock Holmes," and now thanks to the new trailer we have a slightly better idea as to what director Guy Ritchie has in store for us. In our first look at footage from the film, we're able to glimpse the unique relationship between Robert Downey Jr.'s titular character and his faithful sidekick Watson, played by Jude Law, as well as the always sexy Rachel McAdams and Mark Strong's villainous Lord Blackwood.

We also get a good sense of the tone of the action-adventure, which infuses Richie's sense of humor and trademark filmmaking with Arthur Conan Doyle's period mystery series. Take a look at the trailer below, and then click here to watch our interview with Downey and Law from the film's New York City set.

Rachel McAdamsWhen we recently visited the set of this winter’s eagerly-anticipated “Sherlock Holmes” movie, we found Robert Downey Jr., Jude Law, and Rachel McAdams. But naturally, we were also looking for a certain hat and phrase that have long been the hallmarks of the world’s most famous sleuth.

“There’s lots of explosions, [and] people almost die,” McAdams explained to us when we held a magnifying glass up to her recently. But when it came time to talk about Sherlock’s signature stuff, the “Notebook” star insisted that Guy Ritchie’s new vision had omitted a few essentials.

When we asked Rachel if Downey gets the chance to utter the revered Sherlock line “Elementary, my dear Watson” to Jude Law, she didn’t seem to remember it from the script. “I don’t know if he ever worked it in anywhere,” she revealed. Read more...

Larry Carroll and ShoWestThe cabbie who drove me to the hotel kept making fun of Ashton Kutcher. My room at Planet Hollywood is themed around Dolph Lundgren’s 1987 clunker “Masters of the Universe.” This afternoon, I browsed concession booths pitching Dipping Dots, White Castle Jalapeno Cheeseburgers, and more variations on nachos and popcorn than I thought humanly possible.

I might be in Nevada, but it sure feels like I’m still in LA.

Welcome to ShoWest, the annual convention in Las Vegas where theater owners, studios and journalists come to meet up and talk about all the big films of the next few months. I’ve already taken some pictures of all the various posters, from the best (“Terminator Salvation” has a really badass standee) to the worst (Nia Vardalos in a quasi-sequel to “My Big Fat Greek Wedding,” a half-decade too late?) to the uneventful (the “New Moon” poster is so plain that I found it over in a corner of the hallway, leaning against the wall virtually unnoticed). Harrison FordEarlier this month, MTV caught up with Harrison Ford to discuss a few of his upcoming projects -- and he confirmed that he was attached to "Morning Glory," a comedy directed by Roger Mitchell, written by Aline Brosh McKenna ("The Devil Wears Prada") and produced by J.J. Abrams. Ford's participation has been reaffirmed by Variety, and now he has Rachel McAdams for a leading lady.

McAdams will play an aspiring news producer who tries to save a failing morning show by gaining control of its feuding news anchors. Ford will play one of those talking heads, an egotistical and iconic newsanchor. There's shades of Ron Burgundy here, as his co-anchor and rival will be female. Read more...

'Sherlock Holmes'Guy Ritchie held a press conference in London yesterday, confirming all the casting bits we have heard over the last few weeks, and cementing just how sexy and action-packed his take on Sherlock Holmes is going to be. Joining Robert Downey Jr. as the title character will be Jude Law as the able sidekick Dr. Watson -- a suave and posh alternative to the doddery Watsons that we normally see onscreen.

It won't be all testosterone though. Rachel McAdams has been confirmed as Irene Adler, a femme fatale who Holmes always considered to be "the woman," and who outwitted him when few could. But Dr. Watson won't be left out in the cold, as Kelly Reilly has been cast his love interest, Mary Morstan.

The continuing mystery (and it's so appropriate we're left with one when it comes to the great detective) is who we'll see facing off against Holmes and Watson. Mark Strong is playing the villainous Blackwood, but lips are tight when it comes to Professor Moriarty making an appearance. Read more...

Rachel McAdamsThere's a big-budget, Oscar-bait movie adaptation coming soon, based on one of the bestselling novels of the last few years. So once again, an old question raises its ugly head: Should moviegoers read the book before "The Time Traveler's Wife" comes out, or afterwards?

"It depends on how attached you get to books," insisted Rachel McAdams, who will star in the movie opposite Eric Bana when it hits theaters on Christmas Day. "Because, you know, the films always change [things]."

Published by Audrey Niffenegger in 2003, the book told the story of a man who suffers from a genetic disorder that has him time-traveling, usually at inopportune moments. His wife, an artist who tries her best to love him despite his unpredictable condition, finds her past and future intertwined as Henry (Bana in the film) experiences the entirety of her life experiences.
