The A-Team on DVDWhen writer-director Joe Carnahan's adaptation of the beloved '80s TV show "The A-Team" hit theaters this summer, it seemed poised for blockbuster awesomeness. It had a built-in fanbase, a talented director and a spot-on cast -- Liam Neeson as Hannibal, Bradley Cooper (pictured) as Faceman, UFC fighter Quinton "Rampage" Jackson as B.A. and "District 9" star Sharlto Copley as "Howling Mad" Murdock. But for some reason it failed to find a blockbuster-sized auidence.

When Carnahan called up MTV to chat about the movie's release on DVD and Blu-ray (it hit stores December 14), he talked about why he thinks it didn't connect with audiences in theaters, dished on the Blu-ray's extended director's cut and revealed his thoughts on an "A-Team" sequel. He also spilled the beans on his "'Jaws'-like' next film "The Grey," which stars Liam Neeson as the leader of a group of oil drillers being hunted by wolves in the Arctic. Sounds chilling. Welcome to “A-Team Week” on the MTV Movies Blog, boys and girls. For the next five days, we’ll be dragging your pre-conceived notions out of 1985 and into the present, with an exclusive sneak peek at Joe Carnahan’s high-adrenaline update on the classic TV show. Today, we kick off the festivities with behind-the-scenes clips and Carnahan’s thoughts on the one performance everyone seems most curious about: Quinton “Rampage” Jackson as Sergeant B.A. Baracus.

Carnahan went out on a limb to cast the mixed martial artist and former UFC Light-Heavyweight title holder. But according to the “Smokin’ Aces” filmmaker, fans will be thrilled with what they see in theaters on June 11th. Read More...

Last week, Jessica Biel revealed exclusively to MTV some of the first hard details about her character in director Joe Carnahan's big screen adaptation of "The A-Team." She'll play Carissa Sosa, a Department of Defense flunkie who has a romantic history with A-Team honcho Faceman (Bradley Cooper). Presuming the flick follows the action genre mold, Sosa will likely spend much of the movie pursuing Faceman and his pals until circumstances force them all to work together against a greater threat. Or something like that. Remember: this is pure speculation.

If facts are what you're looking for, there are some more to share on "The A-Team." Earlier this week, "Entertainment Tonight" reported from the set of the movie in a short video clip featuring interviews with Cooper, Biel and B.A. Baracus actor and UFC champ Quinton "Rampage" Jackson. You also get a brief, up-close glimpse of "District 9" star Sharlto Copley in his full "Howling Mad" Murdock get-up, but Liam Neeson's Hannibal is notably absent. Check out the video-y goodness after the jump. Read More...

--The folks from ComingSoon got a chance to chat with "2012" director Roland Emmerich, who had some things to say about what's next. He's got two projects on his plate: one having something to do with William Shakespeare (details in the article) and the other, an adaptation of Isaac Asimov's "Foundation" trilogy. (ComingSoon)

--Writers, producers and all-around cool guys Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman, who pretty much have an equity stake in Hollywood at this point, have some things to say about their upcoming View-Master movie. Apparently the idea for the story was born before the classic 3-D viewing toy came into the picture as a peg for a movie, from the mind of "Fringe" writer Brad Kane. Orci then references back to story relayed to the duo by "Transformers" producer Steven Spielberg, whose original idea for "E.T." had nothing to do with aliens. (Sci Fi Wire) Read More...

--This news just arrived in my mailbox, so consider it hot off the presses. Overture Films has issued a casting announcement for Matt Reeves' "Let Me In," a remake of the Swedish vampire flick "Let the Right One In." Joining the cast are Kodi Smit-McPhee ("The Road"), Chloe Moretz ("500 Days of Summer") and Richard Jenkins ("The Visitor").

--As if the badass trailer for Chris Nolan's "Inception" wasn't enough to get you excited, there's more news on the hush-hush project today. IMAX Corporation announced that the sci-fi flick will hit IMAX theaters and regular theaters simultaneously on July 16, 2010. And yes, that is too long to wait for something that looks so freaking cool. (ComingSoon) Read More...

-- Filmmaker Charles Burnett is stepping up to direct a feature-length documentary about President Barack Obama's mother, Stanley Ann Dunham. The film, titled "Stanley Ann Dunham: A Most Generous Spirit" will not only track our president's childhood, but also Dunham's work in helping out developing countries. President Obama is currently "in talks" to be involved; my bet is that he will be. (The Hollywood Reporter)

This post has been updated because of an error in judgment that I made when it was originally written. I sincerely apologize to the staff of The Sun for my hurtful comments. The people there are working journalists and talented writers. They deserve the same respect, the same benefit of the doubt, that I would show to any other fellow professional. All I can say is that I will learn from this mistake and choose my words more carefully in the future.

Here's a link to the original article in The Sun. While I still haven't had my query to Jackson's management responded to, it looks as though the original story was indeed correct. Read More...
