Russell Brand had a helluva 2008. Are we agreed? The man went from zero to sixty in no time it seems and now he seems clearly poised to be a leading comedy star all his own with "Get Him To The Greek." Yes, it is a rite of passage today for comedy star wannabes. Let Judd Apatow produce you in a film you star in and then we'll talk.

But Brand may not have to rely only on the Apatow gang for his future in film. Depending on who you believe Brand may be mixing it up with Johnny Depp some day soon for the fourth "Pirates of the Carribean" movie. It all sounds a bit suspect to me. Russell Brand playing Jack Sparrow's brother?!? Then again didn't Keith Richards signing on to play dear old dad sound like a pipe dream at one time.

So there's no real substantiation to the Brand casting rumors BUT the actors didn't dismiss it when I chatted with him the other day. Read more...
