Steve Carell as Maxwell Smart in 'Get Smart'Steve Carell's "Get Smart" already ranks as one of 2008's highest-profile movies and now, ten months before release, die-hard fans are buzzing over a mystery that's fit for super-spy Maxwell Smart: Who's playing Hymie?

For those who haven't seen the classic Sixties comedy show, Hymie was a robot with superhuman powers, played with deadpan perfection by Richard Gautier. Despite being a cutting-edge aide to the CONTROL spy team, he lacked the mental processing chip that would allow him to comprehend everyday idioms. For instance, if someone told Hymie to go jump in the lake, they'd better go get him a life preserver and a towel.

"I didn't work with Hymie," shrugged Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson when we put him under the Cone of Silence and probed him for details. "None of my scenes were with Hymie - but I met Hymie; he's a cool dude and very, very funny in the movie." Read more...

The RockCaptain Marvel may be charged with protecting mankind, but that's nothing compared to being charged with finding the right actor to fill his heroic tights.

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson told MTV News he was in discussions to play both Captain Marvel AND the villainous Black Adam in the upcoming superhero flick "Shazam," and he's calling on fans of the character to chime in with their picks.

"It's up to the fans," he told me repeatedly when I interviewed him this past Saturday.

So we're opening up the floor to you. Do you think he's right for either role, and if so, which one? It's all yours to decide. But, remember, to borrow a turn of phrase from another superhero, "With great power comes great responsibility."

Sound off on your choices below.

In DC's "Infinite Crisis" series, Captain Marvel is charged with rebuilding the Rock of Eternity. It seems only fitting then that the real-life Rock (Dwayne Johnson) should return the favor and help revive "The World's Mightiest Mortal" in next year's big-screen adaptation of "Shazam!"

While Johnson has only been rumored to take on the role of Captain Marvel, the actor certainly sounded like the role was his. "The project's really, really exciting. Everybody involved, from the writer [John August] to the producers and [the director] Pete Segal, is very passionate about it," Johnson told MTV News. "We'll see what happens."

The alter-ego of young Billy Batson, Captain Marvel possesses the wisdom of Solomon, the strength of Hercules, the stamina of Atlas, the power of Zeus, the courage of Achilles and the speed of Mercury (the first letters of which spell S.H.A.Z.A.M.). But don't expect to hear that from The Rock, who candidly admitted he knew very little about the character. "I didn't know that much about it until I talked to Pete about it — talked to John August about it — and then I started talking to a lot of fans about it, and they started educating me on it," he confessed.

The Rock is one of the few stars able to convincingly play both comedy and action. So with a somewhat goofy premise located between "Superman" and "Big" (a young boy says a word and becomes an adult hero) will "Shazam!" be played straight or for laughs? "That's a good question, it could go either way," Johnson coyly replied. "We'll just have to wait and see when the script comes out."
