Patrick Wilson in 'Watchmen'Let's say by some feat of luck, skill, or thievery, you somehow got your hands on the script for the much-anticipated "Watchmen" -- you still wouldn't know everything they filmed, Patrick Wilson ("Nite Owl") tells us -- because Zack Snyder and company squeezed in "lots of little things," both as extra lines not on the page and as visuals not directly related to the scene, that they expect only hard-core fans will notice or appreciate. That is, if it all makes it in.

"Zack tried to put everything he could in," Wilson said, "and he left it to the studio to cut it and tell him what he can't fit in. For the script we started with, every scene has something different than what's on the page. That’s the fun of it, building it as you go."

For instance, in the Owl Chamber - the Nite Owl's equivalent of the Batcave ("the comparisons to Batman are perfect and right on, because no one is trying to say that they're all that different, it's all done on purpose," Wilson smiled) -- there is a picture of the Twilight Lady, a costumed female supervillain, dressed in leather, holding a riding crop. "That's a character thing," Wilson said. "We don't have a scene about her, we don't talk about her, but at least we have the picture of her." Read More...

Watchmen If I had a nickel for every "Watchmen" blog post I've written in the last few days, I'd...well I still wouldn't be nearly as well off as Adrien Veidt (aka Ozymandias) would I? But here it is at last, the actual confirmed cast of Zack Snyder's "Watchmen."

Jackie Earle Haley is Walter Kovacs/Rorschach

Patrick Wilson is Nite-Owl

Matthew Goode is Adrein Veidt/Ozymandias

Billy Crudup is Dr. Manhattan

Malin Akerman is Laurie Juspeczyk/Silk Spectre

Jeffrey Dean Morgan is the Comedian

So what do you think? Guess they really didn't care about getting A-list names, huh? No offense, Mr. Crudup. Discuss... Stay tuned. We're going to be getting great exclusive access to Zack Snyder himself throughout Comic-Con. We'll bring you all the news right here.

Patrick WilsonAs the final days on his current film wind down, fast-rising actor Patrick Wilson has become known as a nice guy, a solid thespian, and a consummate professional. And he's also being called one other thing around the set: The Nite-Owl.

"Isn't that exciting?" Wilson's co-star Kerry Washington grinned last night. "It's what he goes into next!"

For those of you who recently emerged from a deep coma, Wilson's name has been rumored for weeks as a possible star for "Watchmen" – the big-budget superhero flick that will serve as director Zack Snyder's follow-up to "300." So when the "Little Children" star met with reporters Monday evening on the set of his Samuel L. Jackson thriller "Lakeview Terrace," he addressed the Internet chatter publicly for the first time.

"I'm not a good liar," he laughed, refusing to deny it, "so I really shouldn't go into it."

WatchmenWe've been eagerly anticipating official word on casting for "Watchmen" like everybody else for months now. And I, for one, feel like I've been through an emotional ringer already, before even a single frame of film has been shot (no, I'm not counting that test footage hidden in the "300" trailer).

Zack Snyder on board to direct? Great! Tom Cruise is Ozymandias? Yes! Tom passes? No! Keanu is Dr. Manhattan! Yes! Keanu doesn't want to be Dr. Manhattan! No! Jackie Earle Haley as Rorschach? Um, I guess that's right but I dunno. Patrick Wilson as Nite Owl? Didn't Nite Owl have a potbelly and nerdy glasses? Hmm.

But now, there's word of casting I can truly support and it might surprise you. According to various reports, Matthew Goode is Ozymandias. Read More...

Fans have been debating the right and wrong course for a "Watchmen" movie for so long that it seems almost anti-climactic to finally be reporting on real live developments. But here we are: Zack Snyder is directing, pre-production is underway and casting announcements are imminent. This week, Ain't It Cool said it had reliable info that offers were out to Patrick Wilson, Keanu Reeves, and Jude Law. Immediately "Watchmen" fanatics (count this writer among them) were shouting from the rooftops about how fantastic or horrible these choices were.

Here at MTV, we've got a couple brave "Watchmen" aficionados in the form of Larry Carroll and Karl Heitmueller. Check out their recommendations for casting of key "Watchmen" roles below.

Nite-Owl

Karl -- Paul Giamatti or John Hodgman. You gotta play with audience expectations with "Watchmen." Nite Owl's gotta be schlubby but ultimately heroic. Hmm, maybe Steve Carell? Read More...
