It was always my understanding that ninja were so fearsome that no foe or monster — vampires included — could withstand their stealthy skills, but my preconceived notions have been dashed by the box office debut of "Ninja Assassin," the WB's latest action epic produced by the Wachowski siblings. FROM MTV.COM: "Ninja Assassin" starts off with one of the coolest and most gruesomely entertaining movie scenes of the year: a claustrophobic attack from some masked killers who slice, dice and decapitate their way through some unlucky gangsters, spraying blood around the room like they're firefighters trying to extinguish a four-alarmer.

From there, director James McTeigue ("V for Vendetta") and his star Rain take us on a global treasure hunt in which the nominal goal is vengeance but whose real aim is to kill as many people in as insane a fashion as possible. Run-and-slash sword fights on a busy highway! Armed-soldier-vs.-ninja melees! Spooky, flashlight-assisted battles that leave you hoping never to run into a ninja in a dark alley. The film barrels into theaters on Wednesday (November 25), and here are five things you should know before checking it out:

This weekend is a surprisingly big one for the movies, but let's talk about last weekend for a moment. More importantly, how it might inform this weekend. "New Moon" turned out to be pretty popular, didn't it? $140 million worth of popular, including record-breaking box office numbers for its midnight opening and Friday sales. So, on top of everything else opening this weekend, there's also that big, dark "New Moon" looming to screw everything up.

But what else have we got? Well the big one for a spectacle-junkie like me is "Ninja Assassin," directed by James McTeigue. There are shurikens thrown with gatling gun-like speed and rapidity, at least one limb severed for every minute of screen time and some wicked-looking choreography involving katanas and a kusarigama (the new nunchaku, you heard it here first). It's glorious. Maybe not fine cinema in the traditional sense of story, dialogue, etc., but a hoot to see in action on the big screen. I say this because I've seen it, and it was good. Read More...

"Ninja Assassin" is badass defined. It delivers on exactly what the title promises. Rain deals out some heavy beatings on ninja, multiple ninja. Any one of whom could single-handedly pick apart a gang of armed Wiseguys. You can't reason with a ninja, nor can you bargain. You can only hope that 100 pounds of gold has not been spent to ensure your death.

Unless Rain is around to offer protection. Then you're all good. There are many new "Ninja Assassin" clips, so keep watching after the video below plays or click here to check 'em all out.

I can't freaking wait to see this movie. No talk. Just watch. James McTeigue. "Ninja Assassin." Unbelievably badass-looking ninja action. Out November 25. Finally.

Seriously, the November 25 release of "Ninja Assassin" is really close. Enough so that I can taste the blood in my mouth, which will surely be there after the unbridled awesome that director James McTeigue brings to the screen leaves my ass kicked. I didn't love his "V for Vendetta," but it was definitely beautiful. "Ninja Assassin" is similarly eye-catching, and the story will probably fare better since it's not bound to any source material.

For now though, feast your eyes upon the joys of real ultimate ninja action in our newly updated flipbook gallery.

Last Friday's episode of "Behind the Screen" unearthed a wealth of exclusive new content relating to some of the fall's most highly anticipated releases. Among them is the James McTeigue-directed "Ninja Assassin," a heavily stylized action flick featuring buckets of blood, severed limbs and everybody's favorite black pajama-wearing martial artists. If you need any convincing about this movie's high quotient of awesome sauce, check out last week's exclusive trailer.

The focus of the tale is Raizo, a world-class assassin who emerges from hiding in search of vengeance for the murder of his friend. Raizo's target is the Ozunu Clan, the same crew that helped him sharpen his own person-killing skills. The starring role in "Ninja Assassin" is filled by Asian pop sensation Rain, who will very likely break out in the U.S. after he slices and dices the army of ninja McTeigue throws his way. In real life though, the top dog killer is a sweetheart. Just check out the video below to see Rain fielding the questions that you readers gave us to ask him.

The below exclusive clip from "Ninja Assassin" is gratuitous defined. As MTV Movies editor Josh Horowitz said, it's "exactly what you'd expect to see from a movie called 'Ninja Assassin.'"

There are ninja and there's an assassin (Rain). The former -- in full black ninja pajamas -- are chasing the latter the wrong way down a starlit street, and everyone's getting hit by cars. Rain smacks into two of them, and he recovers like a proper ninja assassin should both times. Hell, the first time it's a van that smacks into him head on, and what does he do? Forward flip, spin and BAM!, smack to a pursuing ninja's face. BAM BAM! Two more go down, and now Rain has a sword. Hit play. It's glorious.

I know that "Jennifer's Body" star Megan Fox seems all sorts of sweet -- you know, in a badass sort of way -- but she can bring the rage too. And I'm not just talking about playing a possessed cheerleader who consumes the souls of her male classmates, which is the case in "Jennifer's Body." No, Fox can get angry. And you wouldn't like her when she's angry. Remember kids: if you meet Megan Fox in a dark alley one night, don't, under any circumstances, ask her to sing for you.

"Behind the Screen" is here, giving you exclusive looks at hot upcoming releases like "2012," "Clash of the Titans," "Jennifer's Body" and "Ninja Assassin." Hit play below to behold the awesome!
