FROM HOLLYWOOD CRUSH: After months of filming in rain-drenched Portland, Oregon and Vancouver, "New Moon" stars Nikki Reed and Kellan Lutz must have felt right at home in Manhattan as a persistent drizzle lingered over the city. But unlike shoots for their vampire romance, the onscreen duo stayed toasty and dry inside the Times Square Toys "R" Us greeting fans and signing autographs for the final leg of the "Twilight" mall tour.
About 500 lovely ladies and a few fellows (not a surprising ratio by now) waited for hours in a line that snaked around the block, with some like Julianne Castillo and Vanesa Rayes, both 18 from Jamaica, Queens, having been outside since before 6 a.m.
"We got up at four o'clock in the morning. We were outside by 5:30 in the morning," Julianne said. "We want to be the first ones on line. That's when all the excitement is there from the actors. We want to have the energy on that paper."

By now you've surely read the news that "Twilight" director Catherine Hardwicke will be taking on a contemporized version of William Shakespeare's "Hamlet," and the Emile Hirsch has been tapped for the starring role. Hardwicke credits Hirsch for the story idea, which brings Hamlet's story "to a small East Coast liberal arts college where Hamlet's father is the president." The story will open with Hirsch's character returning home to attend dear old dad's funeral.
That's really all we know so far. Hardwicke will direct, once she's finished writing the script with Ron Nyswaner. Hirsch will star, though the contemporized setting could mean a shift away from the name 'Hamlet.' The character is universally known however, as is the rest of "Hamlet"'s colorful cast. And seeing as how Hardwicke is tapped in to all of these hot, young stars after her work on "Twilight," we can't help but wonder who among them she might tap for the other major roles. Read more...

“My brother goes to UCLA, and he’s making a documentary right now called ‘The Glorification of Celebrities’,” revealed Nikki Reed when we spoke with her a little while ago, explaining a small film that will feature herself, Kristen Stewart and other young stars commenting on the newfound power and pressure bestowed on them practically overnight. “’Twilight’ will play a role in it, but it is just about [exploring]: What is the definition of being a celebrity now? OMG! Did you guys know that Kristen Stewart is on Twitter? Just like so many other movie stars, including ass-aficionados Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore, the “Twilight” star is reaching out to her public and giving us the latest reports as she heads back to Vancouver to film “New Moon.” Or is she?
“Rob and i have become youtube geeks, it's so awesomely wierd [sic]!” tweeted ‘kristensss” recently. Today, “Twilight” fans are finally coming out by the millions to see beautiful young actresses Kristen Stewart and Nikki Reed star in the feature film adaptation of Stephenie Meyer’s beloved vampire book. Now, MTV has the scoop on the out-of-left-field concept that will reunite the real-life friends just a few weeks later…as men?
“I’m doing a movie called ‘K-11’ in January with Kristen Stewart,” Reed told us on the red carpet of the “Twilight” premiere Monday night. “It’s about a little-known section of the men’s county jail. I’m playing a man, and Kristen’s playing a boy.”
The term “K-11” refers to a dormitory section of the Los Angeles jail used to hold gay inmates, as explained in this 2004 L.A. Times story. According to a recent interview with Stewart, the film is a mixture of drama and comedy. Read more...
One of the most interesting phenomena of the past few years has been the rise in Hollywood's box-office prognosticators, people who make a living predicting how much a film like "Quantum of Solace" will make during its opening weekend. And in this time of perceived predictability, there are few pleasures as great for a movie fan as watching a film like "Borat" or "The Passion of the Christ" come out and make those people look like... well, they're not very good at their jobs.
This week's "Twilight" Tuesday takes you to last night's premiere and afterparty for the latest film to confound the prognosticators. Although few had given the movie much of a chance to win its weekend until recently, now several are predicting that it could beat Disney's talking-dog cartoon "Bolt," and wild guesses have the $37 million film pulling in anywhere from $20 million to $60 million or more.
With "Twilight" director Catherine Hardwicke having gone on record saying that the film must make $150 million for its sequels to become a reality, such inside-baseball talk has suddenly become a matter that concerns every "Twilight" fan. So naturally, the talk on the red carpet last night kept turning back to the stars' optimistic uncertainty.
