Calling all "Muppets" super fans - a sequel is in the works! This information comes straight from the source, co-writer of “The Muppets” and its imminent sequel, Nick Stoller.

MTV News caught up with Stoller at a junket for “The Five Year Engagement,” his comedy starring Jason Segel. The “Jeff, Who Lives At Home” star recently announced his “man over muppet” decision, and sadly, the sequel will be sans-Segel. However, don’t get too bummed, because Stoller revealed exciting news about the script.

"['The Muppets'] was an amazing experience and the movie came out so well, and we've started writing 'Muppets 2,'" he said. "James Bobin and I have been outlining it for a while. It is on."

Sure, we're really excited that Billy Crystal is now hosting the Oscars and blah blah blah but, let's face it, how cool would it have been if that "Muppets for Oscars" campaign had actually panned out?

In the few days between when Eddie Murphy exited as host and Crystal took over, there was a brief glimmer of hope that the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences would choose to have "The Muppets" host instead. The film is shaping up to be one of the highest-rated movies of the year, and has enough public press that the box office might soon reflect that, so (in our humble opinion) it could have been a perfect match-up. "The Muppets" screenwriter Nick Stoller agreed in a recent interview with MTV News.

"That was a really exciting three days," he said. "It would have been so good!"

The cast surrounding Segel just expanded, too, with Amy Adams, Chris Cooper and Rashida Jones reportedly hammering out terms for joining the film.

Segel and Adams will play a boyfriend-girlfriend duo that helps the Muppets in their battle against Cooper's villain, who's threatening to tear down the Muppets' old studio; Jones will play the role of an ABC exec, according to a story on Heat Vision. Read More...

The Muppets are coming, the Muppets are coming! For awhile now it's been known that a new Muppet movie is going into production, with a script from Nick Stoller and Jason Segel and "Flight of the Conchords" co-creator James Bobin directing. MTV's Josh Horowitz spoke with Stoller during the press tour for "Get Him to the Greek" and he got an update on where things are at with Jim Henson's beloved puppet troupe.

"It's PG," Stoller confirmed, before oddly jumping to a more obscure fact about the film. "There is no Muppet penis." Ummmmmmmmmmmm... neat? Read More...
