The past 24 hours -- really, 12 hours -- have brought with them a rash of everyone-knew-it-was-coming breaking news. Let's start with the most nuclear bit: "Breaking Dawn," the final chapter in Stephenie Meyer's "Twlight" series, will be split into two movies. The first one is still set for a November 2011 release and the follow-up will arrive at a still-unspecified date.

It has long been rumored that the split would happen. Cast member have even explicitly address the possibility, and on numerous occasions. For many Twilighters, it was a foregone conclusion that "Breaking Dawn" would be split. And so the news should come as no surprise to anyone.

The news broke very recently that "Splice" director Vincenzo Natali is all set to direct an adaptation of William Gibson's highly influential sci-fi novel "Neuromancer." MTV's Brian Jacks spoke to him earlier this week and learned that while the process is close to a done deal, Natali isn't fully set yet. What's clear is that he is a fan and, if anyone can do the story justice, it's him.

"'Neuromancer'-- it's at such an early stage that I'm not 100% attached to it," Natali revealed. "I think it's probably the most influential science fiction novel of the past 25 years. Various people have attempted to do it in the past and it hasn't worked out, I think in part because the book was so in advance of its time." Read More...

The news broke at the end of last week that Vincenzo Natali, the director of "Splice," will next turn his attention to an adaptation of William Gibson's classic work of literary cyberpunk sci-fi, "Neuromancer." Hayden Christensen was once set to star, with Joseph Khan directing, but there's no mention of whether that will change with Natali now on the gig.
