It's been a hard road so far for "The Man From U.N.C.L.E.," the live-action adaptation of the classic television show, but it may have found a new director. After George Clooney walked away from the film and director Steven Soderbergh, it's had a hard time holding onto anyone. Bradley Cooper left shortly after joining the film, and Soderbergh departed shortly afterward.

Now Deadline is reporting that Warner Bros. has brought on the director of "Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows," its big holiday relase, Guy Ritchie as a producer and probable director of the film.

Mike WhiteClearly someone in Hollywood missed our memo on getting "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies" into production before the end of 2011. Ever since Natalie Portman backed out of playing the film's lead character, the film has been sliding ever closer to the brink of production hell. Recently it was rumored that Anne Hathaway would be playing Elizabeth Bennett in the film, but, well, now she's Christopher Nolan's Catwoman for "The Dark Knight Rises," and we totally understand her desire to be in that above all else. Which brings us back to square one: no lead actress.

Actually, it brings us back to square zero, since now Deadline is reporting that director Mike White, the only person still attached to the film, is leaving the project. Read More...

Pride and Prejudice and ZombiesThough the movie still doesn't have a leading lady attached to it, "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies" is one of the hottest film adaptations-to-be in Hollywood right now. The previously attached director was David O. Russell, who has headed such quirky films as "Three Kings" and "I Heart Huckabees," but he left the project last month to direct "Uncharted Drake's Fortune." Since then, Lionsgate has been toying around with just how they're going to present the flick to audiences, and thus has yet to settle on a replacement.

That could change very soon. The Los Angeles Times blog 24 Frames is reporting that the two lead contenders to direct the flick are "The School of Rock" scribe Mike White and "The Descent" helmer Neil Marshall, though they say there's also a chance "Rocket Science" director Jeffery Blitz could sneak up and snag the project from both of them. The three very different directors would seemingly have three very different visions, so we decided to weigh the pros and cons of each of them. Read More...

Scarlett JohanssonBy Irene Lee

There hasn't been a whole lot of good news lately for the adaptation of the popular literary-horror crossover "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies." Director David O. Russell ("Three Kings") was set to helm, but recently bailed to take the reins of "Uncharted: Drake's Fortune." And Natalie Portman, who'd been attached to star, stepped down, though she remains involved in a producer role (is there anything this Harvard-educated beauty can't do?).

But suddenly things are looking up. Deadline reports that Scarlett Johansson is potentially on tap to play leading lady Elizabeth Bennett to Bradley Cooper's Mr. Darcy. And, according to Slash Film, directors Neil Marshall ("Doomsday"), David Slade ("The Twilight Saga: Eclipse"), and Mike Newell ("Prince of Persia") are circling the project. Read More...

--The folks from ComingSoon got a chance to chat with "2012" director Roland Emmerich, who had some things to say about what's next. He's got two projects on his plate: one having something to do with William Shakespeare (details in the article) and the other, an adaptation of Isaac Asimov's "Foundation" trilogy. (ComingSoon)

--Writers, producers and all-around cool guys Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman, who pretty much have an equity stake in Hollywood at this point, have some things to say about their upcoming View-Master movie. Apparently the idea for the story was born before the classic 3-D viewing toy came into the picture as a peg for a movie, from the mind of "Fringe" writer Brad Kane. Orci then references back to story relayed to the duo by "Transformers" producer Steven Spielberg, whose original idea for "E.T." had nothing to do with aliens. (Sci Fi Wire) Read More...

Who out there has seen "The Descent"? With "Halloween II" and "The Final Destination" just hitting theaters, this is the perfect weekend to unleash the trailer for its sequel, "The Descent: Part 2." In the Neil Marshall-directed original, a group of women embark on a spelunking adventure, only to become trapped underground and hunted by fresh-craving creatures. The second looks pretty much the same, only with more dudes. Not that there's anything wrong with that. Enjoy the trailer.

Neil MarshallIf the general consensus is skepticism regarding the planned (and potentially endangered) "Alien" reboot, then the overall feeling towards "Predators" is markedly more optimistic. For one thing, the sequel/remake/reboot/whatever is in the hands of "Planet Terror" director Robert Rodriguez, who plans to produce the alien epic himself. But it's the latest rumor as to who's directing the feature that has me really excited.

Bloody Disgusting has heard from a "100% reliable source" that "Doomsday" helmer Neil Marshall is "close to signing on" to direct 20th Century Fox's "Predators." The article stresses that Marshall's attachment to the film is not a signed deal, though he's "getting closer" to officially coming aboard. Read More...

Dominic WestIf "300" left you desperate for Old World, over-the-top carnage, you're in luck. According to The Hollywood Reporter, director Neil Marshall ("Doomsday") will finally be moving forward with "Centurion." He's landed two ex-Spartans for it too -- Michael Fassbinder and Dominic West have both signed on to star alongside Bond girl Olga Kurylenko. Eye candy for the girls and the boys both!

Marshall penned the script, which is being described as a thriller set during the Roman invasion of Britain in 117 A.D. It's centered on one Quintus Dias, the sole survivor of a Roman frontier fort that was raided by the Picts. He joins the legendary Ninth Legion, led by General Virilus, who are marching under orders to eliminate the entire Pictish race and their leader, Gorlacon. Read More...
