-- Let the speculation begin. "Howling Mad" Murdock actor Dwight Schultz will be showing up for a cameo in Joe Carnahan's "The A-Team," according to a fansite. Hopefully, this means we'll be seeing other cameos from the rest of the team. Who doesn't want to see Mr. T give this young guns A-Team a vote of confidence with a tiny cameo role. Hell, he can leave his gold chains at home if it makes him happy. Schultz is great, but the fans want what they want: bring back T. (The Official Dwight Schultz Fansite, via Cinematical)

-- "Mad Men" producer Matthew Weiner is turning his attention to film now that the latest season is finished. He's now getting set to helm "You Are Here," a romantic comedy that he wrote. Independent financing is already in place and the cast will include the likes of Jennifer Aniston and "The Hangover" stars Bradley Cooper and Zach Galifianakis. No word on a synopsis, but he'd better get cracking or he's going to leave a lot of "Mad Men" fans very disappointed. (Variety) Read more...

-- Natalie Portman was in Toronto earlier this week, plugging her new movie "Love and Other Impossible Pursuits." The good folks from Movieline cornered her for a chat, and they asked the actress to play their little "My Favorite Scene" game. Portman was into it; her pick was "Dirty Dancing." Which moment, you ask? Follow the link to find out! (Movieline) Read more...

Natalie PortmanDarren Aronofsky has been lying low since all the critical acclaim heaped on him after "The Wrestler." He's just been quietly developing his "Robocop" reboot. The talented director also has another project up his sleeve, one that might just take flight before "Robocop" thanks to the addition of Natalie Portman. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Portman is attached to star in Aronofsky's next project, "Black Swan."

"Swan" is a supernatural thriller set in the New York City ballet. It follows a veteran ballerina (Portman) who finds herself in a tight competition with a rival dancer. With a big performance on the horizon, the rivalry between them becomes fierce and ugly. While that could be vicious enough territory for a film to explore, the ballerina must face an even more terrifying question: whether her rival is even real or just a delusion. A lot of comparisons to made here to "The Others," the Nicole Kidman ghost story where all was not as it seemed... but not before we all wept in terror. Well, at least I did. Read more...

Danny McBride. “Conan the Barbarian.” David Gordon Green. Natalie Portman. I can keep going. “Krull.” James Franco. “Deathstalker.” Am I just throwing stream-of-consciousness nonsense at the wall and seeing what sticks? Am I creating some wicked, half-fictional movie all-star team? Or am I listing the elements from a new project that has me pretty stoked?

Yes, new movie (called “Your Highness”), yes, stoked, and here’s why: the project brings together writers, actors, a director and ‘80s film reference points that have me thinking this flick is going to be a winner. When Danny McBride sat down with MTV News while promoting “Land of the Lost,” what he had to say about “Your Highness” only got me more pumped.

Natalie PortmanThe emphasis in that title is on the 'high' (or should be), a fact that should come as no surprise to fans of "Pineapple Express" director David Gordon Green. "Your Highness," his next gig, comes from a script by "Express" star Danny McBride and Ben Best. McBride, who appears in this week's summer comedy "Land of the Lost," will also star alongside James Franco and, as Variety revealed today, Natalie Portman.

In "Highness," McBride plays a lazy (pot-smoking?) prince who must work with his brother (Franco) to save the kingdom along with bro's bride-to-be. Portman joins the cast as a warrior princess and romantic interest for McBride. Green has already confirmed that "Highness" isn't exactly a full-blown stoner comedy, though McBride and Franco being in the mix certainly suggests that things will lean in such a direction. Natalie PortmanNever pigeonhole an actor. They’re out there writing, producing and directing, creating clothing lines, volunteering on political campaigns and charitable organizations. Yet it’s rare that actors—especially established ones—reverse roles with the pesky journalists who are always sticking microphones in their faces, trying to dig for the next big scoop.

Enter Natalie Portman to do just that. Along with her friend and business partner Christine Aylward, the “Star Wars” actress has launched MakingOf.com, a website that seeks to give people an inside look at the process of making movies through interviews with the insiders themselves: actors, directors, cinematographers, editors, makeup artists and more. Natalie PortmanNatalie Portman is falling in love -- and salvaging quiet little films along the way. According to Variety, Portman is set to star in "Love and Other Impossible Pursuits" alongside Scott Cohen and Charlie Tahan. She will play a young woman named Emelia, who must cope with the loss of her infant daughter, while trying to raise her gifted five-year-old stepson, William, and salvage her rocky marriage. The film will be directed by Don Roos for Incentive Filmed Entertainment, and is based on the novel by Ayelet Waldman.

The role originally belonged to Jennifer Lopez, who's abrupt departure nearly destroyed the film altogether. Portman rescued the film by taking the lead not only onscreen, but behind the scenes -- she's executive producing the film under her banner, Handsomecharlie Films. Read more...
