Twilight Tuesday Takes One Giant Leap For Mankind

Since becoming a "Twilight" fan, I've made a lot of new friends, traveled to the very-cool town of Portland for the first time, and gotten some strange looks in the YA section at Barnes & Noble. This week as our main Twilight Tuesday feature, I'm remembering how up-close-and-personal I got to Bella Swan's iconic truck. But I never thought Stephenie Meyer's addictive books would take me...into outer space?

The retired astronaut, who appears in the upcoming documentary "In the Shadow of the Moon," spoke with MTV News about the current state -- and future of -- the US space program.

MTV: You once wrote that the space program was more than just the culmination of a decade long national effort, that it had some great meaning. What was that meaning for you?
