Abigail BreslinThese days, Abigail Breslin is growing up fast. The “Little Miss Sunshine” star recently graduated to the heart-tugging, adult-themed topics of “My Sister’s Keeper.” She also dropped jaws at Comic-Con with footage of her kicking ass in the October flick “Zombieland.” Now Breslin has revealed to MTV that she’s signed on for one of her heaviest roles yet.

“I’m going to Iowa to film a movie called ‘Janie Jones,’” the 13-year-old cutie told us this week, revealing the name of the top-secret project which she recently became the first major star to join.

“I can’t say too much about it, but it is a drama,” Breslin said of the film’s tone, claiming that it will be quite a departure from her past roles. “It has some funny parts in it, but for the most part it’s drama.” Read more...

Kristen BellWith any luck, Tom Felton's Twitter application of choice will follow him over the border into the United States as he heads to the New York premiere for "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince." He posted another pic in the Twitter-Wood feed today to announce that he is heading south for his next stop on the premiere circuit.

Newcomer to our feed Kristen Bell vehemently defended her authenticity today, so I'm going to give her the benefit of the doubt that this recommendation for "My Sister's Keeper" is for real. Mandy Moore also tweeted in with her reactions to "The King of Kong." She actually split her thoughts over two tweets, so I stitched them together for your reading convenience. Click on down and you'll find these fine critiques along with John Favreau's early morning Mexican cravings and Rainn Wilson's run-in with George Foreman. It's all in the Twitter-Wood report for July 9, 2009! Read more...

Transformers1. "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" ($201.2 million)
2. "The Proposal" ($18.5 million)
3. "The Hangover" ($17.2 million)
4. "Up" ($13 million)
5. "My Sister's Keeper" ($12 million)

"Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" is now the proud holder of a five-day box office record of $201.2 million, but Optimus Prime still comes in behind Batman. Poor reviews aren't keeping audiences away from the latest Michael Bay spectacle, which has continued to exceed expectations and break records every day that it's in theaters. Read more...

Revenge of the Fallen1. "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" ($36.7 million)
2. "The Proposal" ($6.1 million)
3. "The Hangover" ($5.3 million)
4. "My Sister's Keeper" ($5.1 million)
5. "Up" ($3.9 million)

Some weekends, it's easy to predict what's going to come out on top! "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" topped our poll, and it destroyed the charts to take number one with $36.7 million. That would be enough to qualify it as a summer hit, but since it's debut was actually on Wednesday, that's just a drop of the bucket. Read more...

Transformers: Revenge of the FallenGood afternoon readers! I hope your collective Fridays are going swimmingly. I know my vision is swimming, but I'm also running on less than five hours sleep and a whole lot of root beer!

So I decided earlier in the week that the Monday morning Box Office Poll roundup is just too long. And really, is it helpful to know how your peers voted after the weekend is over? So I've decided to break things up a bit, and feed you the poll results every Friday afternoon instead. Not that it really matters week, since we all know where your votes fell. Read more...

Transformers: Revenge of the FallenYes, yes... we get big explosions and giant fighting robots starting this Wednesday. First let's talk about last week. Your votes have been tallied, and most of you -- 34% to be precise -- picked "Year One," which flopped in at number four on the weekly charts with a $20 million box office take. What gives, people? Oh wait... I missed "Year One" too.

No, my $9.50 ticket price (thank you indie theater) instead contributed to the $27 million take for "The Hangover." The weekend's big box office winner was "The Proposal," which snagged 24% of your votes. I apparently misunderestimated the appeal of a Sandra Bullock/Ryan Reynolds-led rom-com. Also, I made up the word "misunderestimated." Okay, fine... it wasn't me. "Dead Snow" rounded out third place with 20%; I hope you 20-percenters enjoyed it. I can't wait. Read more...
