David FincherDavid Fincher is a busy man. He's in the midst of an incredible amount of awards season love for "The Social Network," filming "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo," setting up "20,000 Leagues Under The Sea" as his first 3-D film, and planning for his next two films after that to be "The Reincarnation of Peter Proud" and the Morgan Freeman-starring "Rendezvous With Rama."

In an interview with Collider, Fincher confirmed "20,000 Leagues" would be the first film he shoots in 3-D and implied that it would be his next film, though the director spent most of his time talking about his other projects. Read More...

Morgan Freeman has wanted to bring an adaptation of Arthur C. Clarke's classic 1972 sci-fi novel "Rendezvous With Rama" to the big screen for the better part of a decade-and-a-half. But despite having David Fincher attached to direct back in 2007, the project -- which tells of a group of human explorers trying to unlock the mysteries of an alien vessel that enters the Earth's atmosphere -- has never taken off.

When MTV News chatted with Freeman at the junket for the action-comedy "Red," we asked the acting legend whether the spaceship has sailed on this particular "Rendezvous." He responded by uttering the word "no" about 37 times in a row. Care to elaborate, Mr. Freeman?

"We're still pushing for 'Rendezvous With Rama,'" he said. "That's a got-to-be-done movie. Just have to figure out how to do it. I've been trying for -- I don't know -- 15 years now to get a script. You would think it was easier than it is. It's not; it's really hard." Read More...

FROM MTV.COM: In the hours since the early morning announcement of the 82nd Academy Award nominations, reactions from the Hollywood elite recognized by the Oscar gods have been rolling in.

Sandra Bullock, who nabbed a nod for her turn in "The Blind Side" (also a Best Picture selection), told The Hollywood Reporter, "I'd always assumed that the road to Oscar was planned. I thought people chose projects that were considered 'Oscar-worthy.' No one wanted to make this film. I didn't want to make this film for the better part of the year. Everyone is as blindsided — can I say that? — as I am."

"Invictus" star Morgan Freeman is a familiar and comforting presence in his film appearances, almost distractingly so at this point in his career (particularly when he's playing more of a villain role, as in "Wanted"). Close to 20 years of his grandfatherly demeanor onscreen has made his performances somewhat difficult to take seriously. When you’re sitting in the theater watching “Invictus” this Friday, at no point are you going to be thinking, “Hey, there’s Nelson Mandela up there.” You’re going to be like, “Aw snap, listen to Morgan Freeman’s South African accent. That’s adorable.”

I say it’s high time we start intentionally putting Freeman in even more recognizable leading roles. This is an actor who audiences have already accepted as the creator of the universe. Twice. He can play anything and anyone on screen and the audience will accept it. As the film industry plots out its next series of historical biopics, blockbusters and Oscar-baiters over the next decade, here are the roles they should consider Freeman for. Read More...

According to the actor, Willis plays the man who hires Stallone and his titular team for "a death-defying mission," but there's another operative that could take on the job — none other than Stallone's longtime rival, played by Schwarzenegger. "I talked about this scene with these guys for a long time, but I never thought it would come to fruition," said Stallone. (PopWatch)

Morgan FreemanSo I am off to see "The Ugly Truth" this evening. Rom-coms aren't my usual bag, but I've decided to break character and play against type for once.
