The Lion KingIt seems that the old saying "everything old is new again" holds true at the box office as well. After a successful run for "The Lion King," which hit theaters in 3-D last month for a limited run, Disney will release several more classic flicks to theaters.

The Associated Press reports that after the re-release of the beloved 1994 film has grossed about $80 million at the box office there are plans to release four more.

What will hit your local Cineplex? "Beauty and the Beast" arrives in January 2012 and "Finding Nemo" in September of that year. "Monsters Inc." will hit in January 2013 with "The Little Mermaid" following close behind in September 2013.

Robert Pattinson. "Akira." Two very different worlds quite possibly colliding.

When MTV News recently sat down with RPattz, we brought up the subject of the "Akira" movie, a project that he's currently rumored for alongside a shortlist of other young hot actors like Andrew Garfield. But while he says he "love[s] the movie," he's only seen the reports that you have.

"I mean, I don’t know. I’ve seen the same thing as anybody else has, really," Pattison told MTV. Still, despite no concrete attachment to the project, the actor digs its style. "I mean, I like motorbikes," he said with a laugh.

After the jump check out the rest of today's news, including the new release date for "Monsters University," Sean Hayes being cast in "The Three Stooges" movie, Lindsay Lohan's latest offer, and why Mark Wahlberg may take the "Bait and Switch."

Monsters IncSully and Mike are returning for some more "Monsters, Inc." excitement, but this time they're going to college.

Disney revealed at CinemaCon that they're planning a new movie due out in 2012 called "Monsters University," which will tell the origin story of these two best buds back when they were enemies at the University of Fear. It's the first we've heard of a planned "Monsters, Inc." follow-up since 2008, and will make it Disney's second Pixar film out next year opposite "Brave."

But the news got us thinking: what exactly would be taught at a university that trains monsters to scare young children? Probably a more eclectic group of classes than you'd think. After the jump, we guess what a young creature's class schedule at the University of Fear might look like.

'Up'After last week's jam-packed release schedule led by "G.I. Joe," we're given an opportunity to breath today with only two new theatrical titles coming to market, along with an assortment of action-filled catalog offerings making their way to Blu-ray. This is your DVD Report for Tuesday, November 9.

Disney's Pixar was flying high after the critically and commercially acclaimed "Wall-E," so naturally they looked to the skies for their next animated outing, "Up." The film focuses on Carl Fredricksen, an elderly shut-in who aims to pay homage to his late wife by relocating to the top of a South American paradise the couple had always dreamed of visiting. Equipping his home with hundreds of helium balloons, the house lifts off its foundation and floats away, inadvertently taking with it a young wilderness scout who grows attached to the grumpy septuagenarian at the start of a grand adventure. Pete DocterWith Pixar’s “Up” claiming first place at the box office in its second weekend -- it’s just behind “Star Trek” in terms of the highest two-week tally for 2009 -- congratulations are in order for the film’s director, Pete Docter. Instead of kudos, Docter and his next project are making headlines today: a sequel to his first Pixar feature, “Monsters Inc.” Speculative rumors of a “Monsters Inc. 2” have been floating around for awhile, but we're now one step closer to official confirmation thanks to Disney expert Jim Hill.

In his coverage of Licensing International Expo 2009, Hill reports that licensing buyers were told of the sequel, though they were also apparently supposed to keep the news a secret. Of course now that the information has been leaked, along with Docter’s "Up" success, we can likely expect a formal announcement from Pixar very soon. Read More...

“On ‘Monsters [Inc.]’, when Sulley is putting Boo back in her room, and he’s going to say goodbye to her, she hands him all these toys,” saidd Pete Docter, a director on “Up” and “Monsters,” and a writer on the “Toy Story” films. “One of them was this fish – which was Nemo – but nobody knew it at the time, because ‘[Finding] Nemo’ hadn’t come out yet.
