-- Filmmaker Charles Burnett is stepping up to direct a feature-length documentary about President Barack Obama's mother, Stanley Ann Dunham. The film, titled "Stanley Ann Dunham: A Most Generous Spirit" will not only track our president's childhood, but also Dunham's work in helping out developing countries. President Obama is currently "in talks" to be involved; my bet is that he will be. (The Hollywood Reporter)

-- "G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra" star Channing Tatum has joined the cast of Roman epic "Eagle of the Ninth," along with Jamie Bell, Donald Sutherland and "Sherlock Holmes" star Mark Strong. Tatum will star as Marcus Aquila, sent by Rome to Britain to figure out what happened to the missing Ninth Legion. (The Hollywood Reporter)

-- Even though Vin Diesel and director Rob Cohen were going to re-team for "xXx: The Return of Xander Cage," Cohen has since taken on other projects and the extreme sports super-spy simply can't fit into his schedule. Michael Jackson-- No tricks here, Michael Jackson fans are getting a Halloween treat when Sony Pictures puts out a digestible version of the much-discussed final rehearsal footage. In a throwback to "Captain EO," select bits will be presented in 3-D. Speaking of "EO," wouldn't it be nifty of some of those 3-D clips turned out to be from the Disney attraction? The words "career retrospective" are mentioned after all. (MTV)

-- It still feels so strange to know with absolute certainty that a "Wall Street" sequel is happening. It is though, and the "Money Never Sleeps" cast just got bigger. Frank Langella is in, playing a seasoned broker who mentors Shia LaBeouf's young up-and-comer. The role is said to play "a major part in the film's plot." (Variety) Read more...

Michael Douglas as Gordon Gekko in 'Wall Street'Unless you live under a rock or have a Swiss bank account, you're probably freaking out about the economy like the rest of the world. So with the country's focus on Wall Street, it probably isn't a huge surprise to learn that Fox is continuing to develop a sequel to the 1987 film "Wall Street," now picking up an extra writer on the project.

Titled "Money Never Sleeps," according to The Hollywood Reporter the film's plotline is being kept under tight wraps, but the script is being penned by Allan Loeb. And yes, it will feature the character of Gordon Gekko, who was made infamous by a slick-haired Michael Douglas. Reportedly, Douglas is interested in playing the character again, but will decide whether to return when he sees the script. Read more...
