What a long, strange trip it's been since the first "Hangover" film dropped in 2009. Who could predict that an original comedy starring three mid-level actors would gross hundreds of millions around the world, or that it would become the new standard of bromance comedy, or that you'd actually want to drink more after seeing where alcohol had led the wolf-pack?

But less surprising is how the careers of the actors involved have taken off. Almost all of the primary actors in "The Hangover" have found increased success in the biz, whether it's as action stars, comedic bit players, or reality TV stars.

How far have they come, and where are they going? Find out after the jump!

If you were thinking about getting a replica of Mike Tyson's facial tattoo and making a movie about it, you might want to reconsider -- for several reasons.

S. Victor Whitmill, the tattoo artist behind the boxing icon's distinctive facial tattoo, is suing Warner Bros. for copyright infringement because of the use of a similar tattoo on Ed Helms' character in "The Hangover: Part II." As The Hollywood Reporter points out, since the similar design was kind of the point of Helms' tattoo to begin with, it will be hard to argue that wasn't its intent, but we have a feeling the case will be able to be settled fairly quickly. If you've forgotten what Helms' new tat looks like, check out the newest poster for "Part II" that hit the web courtesy of actor Ken Jeong:

There's a lot more of today's movie news after the jump: Arnold Schwarzenegger picks his next film, we find out more information about the new "Terminator" flick and "Ender's Game" finally gets a director and studio.

James Van Der BeekConsidering that he's best known for a three second, 10-year-old clip of him crying, it makes sense that James Van Der Beek's next comedy gig is all about himself.

The "Dawson's Creek" and "Mercy" star is making his return to television in the ABC pilot "Don't Trust the Bitch in Apt. 23" as a heightened version of himself, according to Deadline. Considering he's at the height of his comedic career thanks to his Funny or Die videos, it definitely seems like the right direction.

Van Der Beek is far from the first star to play himself, and though we're sure he's got his bases covered, here are some previous examples he could learn a few lessons from.

Of all the cameos (that we know about) in "The Hangover 2," we at MTV were definitely most excited about former president Bill Clinton popping on to the Thailand set. So when we had a chance to catch up with star Ed Helms at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival (where he was promoting his new comedy "Cedar Rapids" with co-star Anne Hecht), we had to ask him how it was working with Clinton on the set.

"Check your sources," Helms chided us. "He came and visit us. I'd be surprised if there's a scene in the movie." Read More...

The Hangover Part II

Did you have a relaxing time over the long holiday weekend? Good, because the boys of "The Hangover Part II" sure as hell didn't. Two photos from the upcoming comedy film hit the Web -- the first (above) courtesy of director Todd Phillips' Facebook page and the second (below) thanks to Cinemablend -- and judging from what we're seeing here, the guys aren't having the most subdued Thai vacation of all time.

The first film was a total balls-to-the-wall comedy, during which plenty of ridiculous questions were raised with even more ridiculous answers. What happened last night? Why is Doug missing? Where did Stu's tooth go? Where did that baby come from? Why is there a tiger? Do we really want to know these answers?

Well, it looks like "Part II" is going to follow up on that winning formula. These new photos certainly raise some questions of their own, and we'll dissect them after the jump. Read More...

Jamie ChungSorry, Heather Graham! We knew you weren't reprising your role as sweet stripper Jade in "The Hangover 2," but now you have officially been replaced. The Hollywood Reporter breaks the news that "Sucker Punch" star Jamie Chung has joined the cast as the fiancée of Ed Helms's character's Stu.

The fact that the 27-year-old Chung might be a tad too young -- and hot -- for Stu aside, this at least allows us to flesh out the film's plot a little more. Maybe Stu's bachelor party is the catalyst for our boys' new adventure in Bangkok, where Alan (Zach Galifianakis) reportedly beds a transsexual (accidentally, we think) and the boys encounter an angry tattoo artist played by Liam Neeson. Who knows, maybe the tranny and tattoo artist will be one and the same (fingers crossed)? Read More...

Liam NeesonIn a quick turn of events by Hollywood standards, Liam Neeson has reportedly gone from rumored Mel Gibson-replacement on Friday to shooting his cameo in "The Hangover 2" in L.A. this past Sunday. Deadline broke the news that Neeson would be shooting his scene so quickly, presumably playing the Bangkok tattoo artist role Gibson was attached to.

On Friday, we talked about we hoped Neeson would get the cameo instead of the also rumored Robin Williams and Kurt Russell. The man certainly has a sense of humor (tell me "Release the Kraken!" isn't the most quoted line of 2010), but we've never seen him be a total nutjob in a comedy before. Read More...

As we were reminded recently when we caught up with Todd Phillips, director of “The Hangover,” everyone involved with the sequel to 2009’s most surprising hit is keeping their lips zipped. All he’d reveal to us is that there’ll be more Bartha.

But, as those who’ve already enjoyed the four-buddies-in-Vegas flick will remember, a key subplot involved scandal-plagued boxer Mike Tyson. And in one of the many other interviews Phillips has done promoting this week’s “Hangover” DVD release, the filmmaker stated (joked?) that he wants to use the sequel to give the same treatment to Tiger Woods.

Yep, that Tiger Woods. Read More...

Not too long ago, Jamie Foxx and Taylor Hackford teamed up and essentially took over Hollywood for a few memorable months, as fans and critics alike marveled at the “Booty Call” comedian’s transformation into Ray Charles. Now, I’ve got to admit that I’m a bit fascinated by the duo’s current plans to reunite – and take on an even more difficult real-life icon to portray in Mike Tyson.

Yesterday, we broke the news that Foxx has tapped Hackford to direct him in the upcoming Tyson biopic that he and the former champ have spoken about in the past. If you read those comments, it’s pretty obvious that Foxx views the controversial Iron Mike as something of a misunderstood figure, and it seems likely that the biopic would aim to make Foxx’s admitted friend a bit more sympathetic. In the rest of our conversation with Jamie, he expanded a bit on such feelings. Read More...
