Remember that story we ran a few weeks back revealing the title of director Michel Gondry’s next flick? Well, due to communication difficulties with the French filmmaker, we must now make a minor retraction.
"It's funny because I tell you the title, but then because of my accent it's all over the Net with the wrong title!" the occasionally English-challenged director laughed. "It's called 'The Return of the Ice Kids.' But if you say 'Ice Kings,' that's cool too, I guess." Read More...
If you thought "Be Kind, Rewind" was off-beat or eccentric, wait'll you get a load of director Michel Gondry's proposed sequel, which could be called "Rewound" if I didn't already dub it "The Weirdest Friggin Thing I Have Ever Heard of In My Life."
I've got a fever, and the only prescription is more links of the day – back again with news on Ellen Page, "The A-Team," "The Princess and the Frog," and more.
Sit back and enjoy a hot steaming cup of our links of the day, back again in the new year with news on Daniel Radcliffe, Frank Darabont, and possibly the greatest trailer mash-up ever.
I'll be honest, when I think of Michel Gondry "real life" isn't the first thing that comes to mind, not with fantastical and sometimes surreal movies like "The Science of Sleep" and "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" to his credit. But, three years after "Dave Chappelle's Block Party," the Puckish director is returning to documentary, he revealed to MTV News.
A visionary director with a taste for the fantastic, the look of Michel Gondry's films have always seemed to have more in common with Bugs Bunny than Steven Spielberg - where the rules of space, and gravity, and time don't apply, and dreams can be as real as the girl in the next apartment.
One of the more interesting projects out there is a whimsical adaptation of "Ripley's Believe It or Not," the classic anthology of amazing discoveries and questionable facts. Long-attached to the film was director Tim Burton, with Jim Carrey set to play the intrepid explorer in the title role. Recently, however, Burton ditched the production, leaving its future in serious doubt.
