Michael Peña, welcome to the "Gangster Squad."

Director Ruben Fleischer, who's stepping behind the camera for his most dramatic picture to date in "Gangster Squad," revealed that Peña has joined the cast of the cops-and-gangsters period piece during the MTV Sneak Peek Week premiere of "30 Minutes or Less."

Peña, who also stars in "30 Minutes," is climbing aboard in an unspecified role alongside the previously cast Ryan Gosling, Josh Brolin and Sean Penn. Anthony Mackie is also supposedly up for a part, though he recently told us that his involvement is just a rumor right now. Shooting kicks off in September.

We're more than a little bit excited to see what Fleischer does with "Gangster," but we're just as thrilled by the possibility of a sequel to "Zombieland," the director's hilarious big-screen debut. Talk of "Zombieland 2" dates back to the first film's surprisingly successful box office launch, and while development isn't quite in high gear just yet, Fleischer says the horror comedy could be next on his list after "Gangster Squad."

30 Minutes or LessIt's the final day of MTV Sneak Peek Week — a weeklong movie extravaganza that brought you first looks at "Fright Night," "The Art of Getting By," "Horrible Bosses" and "The Help" — and we're closing things out with a time-sensitive action comedy that Jack Bauer would surely appreciate: "30 Minutes or Less."

Jesse Eisenberg, currently up for Best Male Performance at the MTV Movie Awards, stars in the comedy as a pizza delivery boy who gets kidnapped by a pair of thugs (Danny McBride and Nick Swardson). When the dim-witted criminals strap a bomb to his chest and order him to rob a bank or else surrender to a horrible fiery demise, Eisenberg turns to his best pal (Aziz Ansari) for help. So what do they do? Well, they rob the bank, of course!

We're bringing you an exclusive first look at "30 Minutes of Less" tonight at 11 p.m. ET, followed by a live Q&A with Aziz, Swardson and director Ruben Fleischer that you can watch right here on MTV.com. As always, if you have questions for the cast, we want to hear 'em; just tweet them along to @MTVNews with the hash tag #spw.

Stay tuned all week long for more from MTV Sneak Peek Week!

Foo FightersThe MTV News team might be a little tired and a little sunburned here in Tinsel Town, but with only two days until the MTV Movie Awards, we're buckling down to send more fun content your way.

We've had our daily dose of sightings of the Mystery Machine, spotting people walking around in maid costumes who are shooting films on Universal property and having tourists riding the trolley tours snap photos at us thinking we are celebrities, but still we managed to bring you a whole lot of exciting news from outside and around the Gibson Amphitheatre. From Jackson Rathbone talking up "Breaking Dawn" to Christopher Mintz-Plasse and Craid Gillespie chatting about "Fright Night," from Jasons Bateman and Sudeikis blossoming into our bromance of the year to Emma Stone charming our socks off, we have been working our hardest to get you all the good stuff.

But today is shaping up to be the best day yet. Our favorite "Transformers: Dark of the Moon" star is hitting the Movie Awards (hint: he's a robot and his namesake buzzes), and the cast of "Teen Wolf" will be hitting the red carpet. Then we'll be catching the Foo Fighters' rehearsal for the big show and reporting to you from inside the Gibson Amphitheatre. But what we're most excited about is tonight's "30 Minutes or Less" segment of Sneak Peek Week, where MTV's own Josh Horowitz will chat up stars Aziz Ansari and Michael Peña and director Ruben Fleischer.

Once we stuff Eric Ditzian with just a few more Double Doubles and some animal-style In-N-Out fries, we'll be bringing you tons more insider info, so keep checking back with us throughout the weekend.

Los Angeles will survive the alien assault in this week's "Skyline"... if only so the city can be bombarded again in next March's "Battle: Los Angeles." Thankfully, it looks like L.A. will be a bit more prepared this time around, considering "Battle" is more of a war movie, sci-fi style.

The trailer doesn't give too much of the film's plot away, but it's fairly straightforward. Aliens descend on Los Angeles, and the Marines are called in to try to stop the invasion. In this case, the Marines are Aaron Eckhart, Michelle Rodriguez and Michael Peña (and thousands of others, of course -- those are just the ones we're supposed to care about). What is most notable about the trailer is that it presents the film first and foremost as a gritty war movie; badass extraterrestrials just happen to be the enemies. Read More...

Michael PenaWith just under two months until the series finale of "The Shield," talk from the TV show's fiercely loyal fanbase is beginning to turn once again to rumors that one of the greatest cop dramas of all time could live on -- as a feature film?

About a year ago, Emmy winner Michael Chiklis revealed to us that "there are a lot of questions about the potential of a 'Shield' movie these days," and we remarked at the time that it would be interesting to see what happens to Vic Mackey in the years to come, assuming he makes it through Season 7 alive. But according to his former co-star Michael Pena, even if Vic does die it could invite a prequel to bring him back from the dead. Read More...
