We've known for a while that Gordon Gekko would briefly reunite with his protégé-turned-whistleblower Bud Fox in "Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps." On the red carpet at the National Review Board gala on Tuesday night, Gekko himself, Michael Douglas, revealed some details about the circumstances surrounding that on-screen reunion with Charlie Sheen's Fox, possibly contradicting or adding to the already-known appearance "as a guest on a financial talk show in the background of a scene," as reported by The Playlist. Douglas also spoke to what it was like working with director Oliver Stone again, as the two famously clashed on the set of the original film.

"Charlie did a cameo," the actor told our own Josh Horowitz. "He came in. It was fun for a day. It was good to see him again." Read more...

How do you take down a highly trained soldier, freshly double-crossed with nothing left to lose? If you're Steven Soderbergh, you hire a quartet of high profile actors to do the job for you.

According to The Playlist, Soderbergh has enlisted the services of Michael Douglas, Michael Fassbender, Ewan McGregor and Dennis Quaid for "Knockout," the spy-centric action movie that stars mixed martial artist Gina Carano as Mallory Kane, a super spy trying to clear her own name. Read more...

Soon, very soon now, fans will get to see exactly what an Oliver Stone sequel looks like. The original hit theaters in 1987, earning Michael Douglas a Best Actor Oscar for his performance as shark Gordon Gekko. In the original, the morally bankrupt Gekko coaches young newcomer Bud Fox (Charlie Sheen) as he enters the fast-paced world of stock trading.

Gekko finds some redemption in the coming sequel, "Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps," when he links up with another young trader -- Jacob Moore (Shia LaBeouf) -- on the eve of a catastrophic financial crisis. It's not so unusual, to turn a one-time villain into a redemptive figure (see also: "Terminator 2: Judgment Day"). He'll even have a daughter in this outing, Winnie Gekko, played by Carey Mulligan. It's still sort of amazing to me that a "Wall Street" sequel is happening. Not just happening, but being helmed by the original's director, Oliver Stone. It just seems... off.

No matter though. It's happening. And Gordon Gekko, Michael Douglas's iconic shark, is back. In "Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps," he's teaming with Jacob Moore (Shia LaBeouf) to warn the finance industry of the coming economic crisis... and solve a murder mystery! Sounds awesome. Hit the jump for an on-set glimpse of Douglas and LaBeouf and Gekko and Moore. Read more...

"It would be sexual harassment in any other business." That's what Matt Damon had to say about Michael Douglas's "chapstick" comment, a reference to the Liberace biopic the two will star in. Douglas will play the famous singer/showman and Damon, his gay lover. The duo will be under the direction of Steven Soderbergh, whose Damon-starring quirky comedy "The Informant!" hits theaters today.

In the video below you can hear Damon talking about his work with Soderbergh at last week's Toronto International Film Festival, where MTV's Josh Horowitz got to sit with him. Beware listeners: there are some sizable "Informant" spoilers in the latter half of the video, so hit stop at around 1:00/1:10 if you want to remain pure.

Don't let the 9/11 release date and the slightly loaded title fool you. "Beyond a Reasonable Doubt" has absolutely nothing to do with the World Trade Center. It's actually a remake of director Fritz Lang's 1956 film-noir of the same name. I'm not usually drawn in by remake fever, but this story sounds pretty compelling. A journalist frames himself for murder so he can investigate a seemingly corrupt District Attorney, and the journo's Assistant DA love interest is caught in the middle.

The below exclusive clip is our very first glimpse at the movie. It must be early in the tale, as reporter C.J. Nicholas (Jesse Metcalfe) is clearly trying to woo ADA Ella Crystal (Amber Tamblyn). Can't say I blame him. I'm guessing that Ella's faith in DA bossman Mark Hunter (Michael Douglas) will start to waver shortly after this.

Director Peter Hyams turned out two of my favorite comfort movies of the '90s: "Stay Tuned" and "Timecop." He helmed "Reasonable Doubt" and adapted the screenplay from Douglas Morrow's original. That's really all I need to know.

'Wall Street'Back in February, Oliver Stone told MTV News that he would not be coming to save “Wall Street 2,” the sequel to his Zeitgeist-defining drama about corporate greed in the 1980s. Fox had fast-tracked the movie late last year as the economic downturn became severe.

“I dropped out,” he said. “I didn’t want to do another ‘Wall Street’ movie. I think everything I had to stay came through.”

Well, something changed in the last couple months, because Stone has now signed on to direct the picture. Michael Douglas is likely to reprise his role as merciless corporate raider Gordon Gekko and Variety is reporting that Shia LaBeouf is in negotiations to join the film as well. Read more...

LiberaceJust as Steven Soderbergh's "Che" biopic is set to his theaters, the director is already hard at work on a movie telling the story of a very, very different icon of the 20th century. According to the Soderbergh, "Liberace" is tentatively scheduled to begin shooting in 2010 with Michael Douglas and Matt Damon, and will focus on the flamboyant pianist's turbulent relationship with his companion Scott Thorson in the final decade of his life.

Thorson, who would be played by Damon, filed a $113 million palimony suit against the entertainer in 1982, but ended up settling out of court for a far lesser sum of money. The story promises a great deal of drama, and some insight into the secretive personal life of one of popular culture's legendary closeted superstars, but the filmmaker also promises not to ignore his subject's virtuosity and showmanship.

"There are performance scenes," Soderbergh told MTV News. Read more...

Michael Douglas as Gordon Gekko in 'Wall Street'Unless you live under a rock or have a Swiss bank account, you're probably freaking out about the economy like the rest of the world. So with the country's focus on Wall Street, it probably isn't a huge surprise to learn that Fox is continuing to develop a sequel to the 1987 film "Wall Street," now picking up an extra writer on the project.

Titled "Money Never Sleeps," according to The Hollywood Reporter the film's plotline is being kept under tight wraps, but the script is being penned by Allan Loeb. And yes, it will feature the character of Gordon Gekko, who was made infamous by a slick-haired Michael Douglas. Reportedly, Douglas is interested in playing the character again, but will decide whether to return when he sees the script. Read more...
