Though its plot remains almost entirely shrouded in secrecy, "Stoker" is nevertheless one of our most anticipated projects by quite a lot. It comes from "Oldboy" director Park Chan-wook in his English-language feature film debut, written by "Prison Break" actor Wentworth Miller and starring "Alice in Wonderland" rising star Mia Wasikowska and Oscar winner Nicole Kidman. Even without knowing the plot, how can you argue with that lineup of talent?

It gets even better: Colin Firth, fresh off of his Oscar victory for "The King's Speech," is reportedly joining the cast as well. Rumors swirled regarding his involvement earlier this month, and now THR reports that Firth is finalizing his deal.

But there were other rumors about "Stoker" that are simply untrue, like the fact that it centers on vampires. Park's film company Moho Film denied reports that "Stoker" is a vampire film to THR, and when we recently caught up with "Stoker" lead Wasikowska, she also verified that the fangs are not out for her latest picture.

Guy PearceAdd "The Wettest County in the World" to our list of movies we're enormously excited about. Based on Matt Bondurant's novel about his grandfather and two great-uncles' bootlegging activities in Prohibition-era Virginia, the John Hillcoat-directed and Nick Cave-written gangster movie has already secured top-flight talents Shia LaBeouf and Tom Hardy for the two lead roles as the Bondurant boys.

Now, add four more stars to the cast: Guy Pearce, Gary Oldman, Mia Wasikowska and Jason Clarke are all on board for "The Wettest County in the World," which starts lensing in Georgia on February 28.

Justin TimberlakeWe're in the thick of a particularly competitive awards season where snubs and shutouts are par for the course. But that's not the fault of nominating parties, necessarily — frankly, 2010 was just an excellent year for film.

Still, it's hard not to get a little raw about some of the shocking omissions that we've seen thus far, like the complete absence of "True Grit" at the Golden Globes, for example. But there are some performances that are just too great to ignore, leaving us surprised at the lack of awards recognition for some of our favorite actors and actresses.

After the jump, check out five of the biggest snubs of awards season thus far! Read More...

We've all been so distracted by another adaptation, of-sorts, of a classic 18th century novel (I'm talking about "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies," of course), that the newest version of "Jane Eyre" has slipped right under the radar. But the trailer for the latest big-screen incarnation of Charlotte Brontë's classic tale, starring Mia Wasikowska and Michael Fassbender, just hit... and it has definitely caught our attention.

Most people should know the basic premise of the novel, which follows an orphan named Jane Eyre (Wasikowska) who ends up working as a governess for the wealthy Edward Rochester (Fassbender), who is hiding a terrible secret. The trailer for the film, though, seems to play the whole story off as a horror-thriller -- which, I guess, we could argue that it is. Read More...

A few missteps aside, Tim Burton turned in a solidly entertaining film with his live-action adaptation -- more a sequel, really -- of "Alice in Wonderland." This is thanks in large part to the performance turned in by Mia Wasikowska, who led the cast as Alice. The movie ends in an interesting place as compared to many other blockbusters: while there certainly could be a sequel, the conclusion could also just as easily serve as an end point. For Wasikowska, it is just that... for her character at any rate.

"I don't think [a sequel is] really necessary," she told MTV's Josh Horowitz in an interview at the press junket for "The Kidd Are All Right," the Lisa Cholodenko-directed comedy that opens next week. "I think it was left in a really good place. I think it's sort of good where it is." While she may not necessarily be willing to put on the blue and white dress again, Wasikowska admits that she continues to feel the aftershocks of taking on such a high-profile role in her professional life. Perhaps the biggest release this month is "Alice in Wonderland," Tim Burton's sequel (get over it; that's what it is) to the 1951 Disney classic. The movie opened to Burton's biggest-ever opening weekend and it remains popular going into its second week.

You know what that means, right? Sequel! That's how these things work. Movie with established name and franchise potential opens, performs well, gets a follow-up. Only that might not be the case with "Alice." Not as far as star Mia Wasikowska is concerned.

"I think it's left in a really good place and I don't think it really needs [a sequel]," she told MTV's Josh Horowitz on the red carpet at the 2010 Independent Spirit Awards. "I think it's good how it is." Read More...
