MTV's After Hours has made a name for itself creating the highest quality late night entertainment around. But now, with the help of Ice T, the series could be making its big break into prime time programming.

Enter "Snowy River," which absolutely was definitely not shot on location at the Sundance Film Festival or anything like that (hint: okay maybe it was). Snowy River is a mysterious town with many terrifying murderers on the loose (you could get killed for playing peek-a-boo) and even more interesting inhabitants (just wait until you see the Inarticulate Twins). As the trailer teases, it will be a lot better than "NCIS"... we hope.

In MTV News' recent visit to the set of "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter," we learned that the movie will be anything but a traditional look back at the life of our 16th president. Most biopics about Lincoln don't involve Honest Abe utilizing his own custom form of axe-centered martial arts.

"It's a very unique take," Mary Elizabeth Winstead told MTV News at the Sundance Film Festival, in what may be the biggest understatement in movies this year.

We caught up with Winstead, who was in Park City for her new movie "Smashed," to talk about playing the woman behind the presidential undead killer, Mary Todd Lincoln. Unfortunately for the actress, her role as Mary Todd doesn't involve much axe-throwing.

Johnny DeppJohnny Depp is poised to star as yet another colorful author in the upcoming Dr. Seuss biopic.

He is reported to be producing the project, but is also considering playing beloved children's author, born Theodor Geisel, in the upcoming flick. Though the movie won't end up relying on CGI as much as, say, "Alice in Wonderland" did, the flick's producers did say that it will include some animated elements. Depp has already portrayed "Peter Pan" author J.M. Barrie and "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" author Hunter S. Thompson on the big screen.

FROM MTV MOVIES: It's a horror-movie question almost 30 years in the making: What the hell happened to the Norwegian researchers discovered toward the beginning of the 1982 John Carpenter cult fave "The Thing"?

Kurt Russell and his crew do end up stumbling into some terrifying answers, but Carpenter's flick concentrates on the alien horrors the Americans endure. The 2011 fall movie season, however, is set to uncover what really happened before Russell touched down in the Antarctic, as director Matthijs van Heijningen Jr. delivers a prequel story, also called "The Thing," to theaters on October 14.

As part of MTV News' Fall Movie Preview, we're not only debuting an exclusive clip and photo from the horror flick about an alien able to mimic the likenesses of other life forms, but we sat down for a chat with star Mary Elizabeth Winstead, who plays a young researcher confronting the extraterrestrial danger. She spoke about the pressures of remaking a classic, the criticism from some corners about introducing a central female character to the action, and the challenges of reinventing an alien creature while staying true to its original form.

Mary Elizabeth WinsteadLast year Mary Elizabeth Winstead played Ramona Flowers, the object of Michael Cera's affection as he fought off her league of evil exes in "Scott Pilgrim vs. the World."

Now, Winstead will stand by her man once again, only this time her man happens to be the 16th President of the United States and instead of fighting video game battles, he'll be killing off vampires.

Heat Vision reports the news that Winstead, who was previously reported as a contender for "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter," has officially landed the role of First Lady Mary Todd. Winstead's casting comes just days after an earlier report that actress Robin McLeavy had landed the part -- but it's Winstead who will be standing side-by-side with Honest Abe.

TransformersTyrese Gibson said that yesterday would be the last day of filming for "Transformers 3," and it looks like everything went down as planned. In fact, according to his posts he treated Michael Bay to a Lakers game to celebrate.

Former President George W. Bush has also been doing some celebrating, now that his new book "Decision Points" is out. He received praise from both Donnie Wahlberg and Stephen Colbert today on Twitter, though one of those posts might be a little more sincere than the other. Check out what they said after the jump, along with what it might be like to hire Randy Moss for yourself... and which "Scott Pilgrim vs. The World" actress now seems to be on Twitter, though has yet to be verified.

Let's clear a couple things up about the upcoming horror flick "The Thing." Firstly, it is NOT a remake of John Carpenter's 1982 sci-fi horror classic; in fact, it's a prequel that follows an international group of scientists who, while at a Norwegian outpost in Antarctica, discover an alien that is able to assume the physical identity of anything it touches. Secondly, while promoting the film at New York Comic Con, stars Joel Edgerton and Eric Christian Olsen told MTV News that purists can rest easy: The film won't be "the spring break version of 'The Thing.'"

MTV asked Edgerton and Olsen whether the film's two -- count 'em, two -- female cast members, Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Kim Bubbs, were intimidated by the male-to-female ratio, and the actors replied by laughingly boasting of their own overabundance of masculinity. "This facial hair just screams testosterone," said Olsen, while Edgerton said his hair "just keeps going [all the way down my body]." That visual -- and a couple more jokes about their "feminine side" and on-set "crying and whimpering" -- aside, the two got semi-serious enough to talk about how the film will stack up to the expectations of fans of the original "Thing."
