I love Richard Pryor so much that it's been hard for me to imagine anybody adequately portraying the legendary comedian/actor in the planned biopic "Richard Pryor: Is It Something I Said?" I certainly didn't think Eddie Murphy was right for the role when he was set to play the icon awhile back. Nor did I like the idea of Mike Epps as Pryor. But I surprised myself with a very positive reaction to today's news that Marlon Wayans may star as Pryor in the film, to be written and helmed by "Dreamgirls" director Bill Condon.

Say what you will about Wayans' movie career, especially the lowbrow stuff he's co-written with brothers Keenan and Shawn ("White Chicks;" the "Scary Movie" series). The guy has shown us that he can act (in one film -- "Requiem for a Dream" -- at least), and he is great at being funny solely through facial expressions, just like Pryor was. Read more...

A lot of discussion around "G.I. Joe" (out this Friday) focused on three areas: how cool Snake Eyes would be, how the "accelerator suits" would look and the bombastic destruction of the Eiffel Tower. Well, now we can help you out, as we have clips of all three of those scenes.

Watch Channing Tatum and Marlon Wayans bounce their way through a high-speed chase in the video below, and then click here to watch three other clips from the summer blockbuster.

"G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra" is out next weekend! As an avid viewer of the classic cartoon series and hoarder of action figures/vehicles, I'm kinda sorta a little bit excited for this one. I'm actually seeing the movie this weekend to prepare for Sunday's press day with the cast. You can look for that coverage to appear on MTV.com next week in anticipation of the movie's release.

To get the hype train rolling a little early, we've got some video for you from the "Rise of Cobra" premiere yesterday in Tokyo. Check out that awesome signage; movie titles always look so much cooler in a different language. You'll also see stars Channing Tatum, Sienna Miller and Marlon Wayans stepping up to the red carpet mic to say howdy.

Marlon WayansWhen the “G.I. Joe” live-action movie finally got a greenlight after more than a decade in development, fans of the series seemed to have two main concerns: That they’d mess up the look of the beloved characters, and that Marlon Wayans would be cracking too many jokes. And while I haven’t got much evidence to shoot down that first fear, I can tell you when we recently caught up with Marlon, he insisted that “The Rise of Cobra” kept his “Little Man” hijinks in check.

“The movie is serious, action and some comedy - but not all comedy,” insisted the star, who will bring an extremely different look to the High Altitude Low Opening jumper in the August 7th flick. “You pull off the reigns; I did what was appropriate for the role and for the character.” Read more...

BaronessYou’ve seen the photos, heard the rumors, and even had your eardrums blown out by one star’s unparalleled sense of excitement. But the question remains: Is next summer’s “G.I. Joe” movie going to be as awesome as Michael Bay’s “Transformers,” or as laughable as Dolph Lundgren’s “Masters of the Universe”?

“We are in post-production, and it’s looking really good,” promised super-producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura recently, marveling over some of the early “G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra” scenes he’s been working on recently with director Stephen Sommers. “It’s going to be really fun, and it’s going to be big.”

The cast alone would seem to back up di Bonaventura’s boasts, with such names as Channing Tatum, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Dennis Quaid, Marlon Wayans, Sienna Miller and others. When MTV visited the set awhile back, it was as if the soldier-stuffed toyboxes we all had as children had grown 20 times their size and been handed over to Sommers. All that remains now is to see if his plotlines are as exciting as the ones we dreamed up in our backyards all those years ago. Read more...
